- Salvatore was youngest of four (three 1/2 siblings from mother Delores' first marriage.) Raised by Mamma Frisella and two older sisters De Anna and De Neena and seven Sicilian aunts. Mother is youngest of ten, Grandfather was eldest of five. Salvatore grew up in a very matriarchal Sicilian family that arrived from Giardinello, Sicily in the early 1900s. The entrepreneur gene runs in the family: Frisella's Nursery, Moving and Storage, Metro Lighting, Hair stylist, doctors, lawyers, professional athletes, teachers, poets, and actors. The list goes on and on. The smallest litter of children was eight from the Frisella brothers and largest was twelve. The name Frisella is a bread that dates back 3000 years. It is pulled out of the oven half way through cooking, sliced in half, then put back in until crisp.

- Second cousin to the late great Dan Frisella of baseball fame.
- Loves history.
- Played Charlie Brown in Charles Schulz's "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" in Senior Play 1989 at Grace Christian School.
- As a child, while pretending to be sick to stay home from school, he saw Stephen J. Cannell on the Phil Donahue show and heard his story of how he was struggling in school but was encouraged by a writing teacher. This was the seed that started Frisella's desire to write stories for movies.
