Alex Walton and his team head to Berlin with international rights to the long-awaited follow-up to the 2008 horror hit.
Johannes Roberts will direct from a script by Bryan Bertino, who wrote and directed the original (pictured) that grossed $82.4m worldwide, and Ben Ketai.
The Fyzz Facility Pictures’ Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones, and Mark Lane and James Harris are producing in association with Relativity Media.
The Strangers 2 centres on the familiar masked psychopaths who this time terrorise a family on holiday at a secluded trailer park.
Casting is underway and the project is on schedule to shoot in the Us this summer.
“I am truly scared every time I think of the original The Strangers movie,” said Walton. “It is my favourite horror film of the past 10 years. The screenplay will immediately satisfy any fan of the original and I’m confident of a growing audience for this genre around the world.“...

After director Josh Trank epically shit the bed with the Fantastic Four reboot, I wasn't really sure we'd ever see him make another movie again. But Addictive Pictures has hired him to direct a new film that he wrote called Fonzo, and Tom Hardy is set to play Al Capone. This is the plot summary that was released:
Once a ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Alfonse Capone was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Alfonse’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.
This is actually a very intriguing and unique take on the life of Capone, and I have no doubt that Hardy will give an incredible performance. The guy is a crazy talented actor,...

Terrence Malick's "To The Wonder" "makes 'Tree of Life' look like 'Transformers,' " Ben Affleck said in 2012, just a few weeks before the film was unveiled to audiences for the first time in Venice. Some viewers loved it, but not everyone was impressed. One thing we can probably all agree on, Affleck’s comments, while well-intentioned, were a bit ridiculous, even meaningless (especially given that he kind of backtracked and sort of suggested the “half-crazy” experience was a bit frustrating). Producers and billionaire scions Ken Kao and Alex Walton, Kao being one of the financiers on the project, gave a few more details about Malick's latest film, "Knight of Cups," in an interview with THR. We know the movie is about excess in Hollywood, but Kao filled in a few more details. “Christian Bale plays Rick, who is a screenwriter and filmmaker living in California,” he said. “From the outside,...

Ivanhoe Pictures and Beijing Galloping Horse Film Co have jointly acquired all Chinese rights for John Carney’s Begin Again.
The deal marks Ivanhoe’s first acquisition. International financier Robert Friedland launched the company launched last September to finance and produce film and TV projects with global audience appeal, particularly in China, India, Korea, and Japan.
Veteran producer John Penotti heads the company with Beijing-based Ray Chen.
The company is also in development on Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians and has signed a four year, multi-picture co-financing deal with Fox International Productions for local language films in five markets across Asia.
Begin Again was arguably the hit of Toronto 2013 and stars Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Hailee Steinfeld and Adam Levine. The Weinstein Company will release in North America in July.

Cannes: Now that former president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton has announced his new company Bloom, Us operations at Exclusive Media are expected to wind down quickly.
What will remain of Dasym-owned Exclusive Media and continue as going concerns are the 800+ library and UK-based genre label Hammer run by Simon Oakes.
The popular Walton has transitioned his international team with him to the new venture, backed by producer-financier and Waypoint Entertainment founder Ken Kao.
The extraction of the sales team, allied to the fact that Bloom will continue to sell and service outstanding titles on the Exclusive Media slate, foreshadows the demise of the production division under president of worldwide production and acquisitions Tobin Armbrust.
The short-lived Exclusive Releasing’s days are numbered once the Us distribution operation has met all its obligations. Release titles included Adore (pictured) and Parkland.

Alex Walton arrives on the Croisette with his new company Bloom and will kick off sales on the prestige drama Sea Of Trees from Gus van Sant to star Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey.
Backed by Waypoint Entertainment head and producer-financier and Garmin heir Ken Kao, Walton has taken his Exclusive Media sales team with him and will continue to sell and service all outstanding titles from the Exclusive Media slate.
What is understood to be an amicable arrangement with Dasym, the chief owner of Walton’s former employer, nonetheless foreshadows what would appear to be a winding down of Us operations at the embattled company.
Walton said he was seeking to build a diverse stable at Bloom, ranging from commercial, talent-driven wide-release titles to specialty films from proven filmmakers. Unearthing fresh voices is also a priority.

Exclusive Media co-founders Nigel Sinclair and Guy East have reached a deal that will see them exit the film finance and production company they helped build to create a new venture dubbed White Horse Pictures. Sinclair and East's exit clears the way for Chief Operating Officer Marc Schipper to be become CEO of the company. His promotion is effective immediately. Schipper will be at the helm as Exclusive moves away from producing films towards becoming a company that is primarily focused on film sales. To that end, Alex Walton, president of international sales and distribution, will remain at Exclusive and.

Efm: The fate of Exclusive Media remained unclear on Friday night (7) as it appeared that co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East were headed for the exit.
As Alex Walton and his team pressed ahead with sales on, among others, the reconstituted Black Mass project starring Johnny Depp (Tom Hardy is in talks to join), the co-chairs were locked in crisis talks.
While Woman In Black was a bona fide smash, the disappointing global performance of Rush and perhaps more significantly the financial ramifications of Exclusive Media’s top-heavy structure have clearly tested the patience of prime backer Dasym Investment Strategies, the investment vehicle of Dutch mogul John de Mol.
Insiders noted that Sinclair and East, who own part of Exclusive Media, could segue into a producer role on the back of their past successes.
Speculation has inevitably turned to who will now run the company, with the smart money on COO Marc Schipper as the strongest candidate...

Following the astounding success of last year’s The Woman in Black, which became something of a sleeper hit around the world for Hammer Films, we first heard late last year that Tom Harper had come on board to direct the sequel, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death.
We saw a pretty snazzy promo poster surface back in November, at which time we were still in the dark about who would be taking the leads this time around in Daniel Radcliffe’s place.
And now Hammer have announced that Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Phoebe Fox (Switch) have signed on to take the leads for the sequel, set several decades after the original.
