Why I kept watching the American Pie series after the third film was beyond me. They all involved a member of the Stiffler family, and were all terrible. But for the first time since American Wedding, the series takes an upturn with a smaller, funnier film that only has a few truly dumb hiccups along the way.
The Book Of Love is the first film since the original that doesn’t follow a member of the Stiffler family, and for that it deserves some credit. The Stiflers are obnoxious characters and every single one of them is just doing a bad impression of Seann William Scott’s performance of the original. It’s like they exist in some weird universe where every member of the family acts the exact same way, which is something I don’t think anyone can really relate to. The focus this time is on Rob...

Believe it or not, it’s now been 10 years since the original American Pie movie. It was a huge success costing around $10m to make and creating around $235m at the box office. It spawned two further theatrical releases and American Pie Presents: The Book of Love is the 4th straight-to-dvd release in the franchise making it the 7th in the series. None of it’s predecessors have managed to live up to the standard of the original movie but read on to find out if this seventh movie cu the mustard!
American Pie (1999) didn’t just start a franchise that would go for ten years or longer, it created (or possibly revived?) a whole new genre which sparked many other college based comedies, none of which have quite lived up to the daddy that is American Pie. All the elements have been there in the sequels but there seems...

Yup, Universal is releasing yet another direct-to-dvd American Pie sequel/spin-off. And yes, the jokes have gotten progressively less funny. This time around, the story focuses on three friends at Great Falls High, who like the original group, are "determined to succeed in their mission of manhood and score with the ladies of their dreams." But before that can happen, they must reconstruct "the bible". After some uproarious attempts with less than successful results, they accidentally discover a legendary guide to seduction hidden in the school library. It turns out to be a rarely-seen, often-sought manual about the secrets to sexual success, penned by some of the school's previous generations. But a few missing pages leads to hilarious surprises for everyone... including the alumni. The film stars Eugene Levy, Rosanna Arquette, Bug Hall, Kevin M. Horton, Brandon Hardesty, Beth Behrs, Melanie Papalia, Jennifer Holland, John Patrick Jordan, Louisa Lytton, Sherman Hemsley,...

Moviehole is reporting that Tara Reid is going back to the franchise that started it all for her, "American Pie." She will reprise her role of Vicki Lathum, from the first two films, for the straight to DVD "American Pie Presents Book of Love." Plot: Ten years after the first American Pie movie, three new hapless virgins discover the Bible hidden in the school library at East Great Falls High. Unfortunately for them, the book is ruined, and with incomplete advice, the Bible leads them on a hilarious journey to lose their virginity. For those who remember the first film, Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) used the newly learned tricks from the book on his then-girlfriend Vicki (Reid). The new movie is directed by John Putch ("Scrubs") and penned by David H. Steinberg (American Pie 2). It stars Bug Hall (Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves), Kevin M. Horton (Big Game), and Eugene Levy.

Back in October, rumors were swirling that the American Pie series was going to make a triumphant return to theaters after finding so much success in the direct-to-dvd market. While that doesn't seem to be happening just yet, we've got one better for you: According to Moviehole, Tara Reid will reprise her role as Vicki Lathum in the next bargain-bin sequel, currently titled American Pie: Skank Patrol! I kid, of course, they're calling this installment American Pie: Book of Love, and it apparently follows a group of kids who discover the so-called "sex-bible" from the original film in their school library and set out on a quest to lose their virginity. Reid appeared as Vicki in the first two American Pie films, and will join Eugene Levy as the only other original cast member still munchin' on that tasty pie.
