Snowpiercer season 4 went into production in early 2022, and by the middle of that year, TNT had confirmed that season 4 would also be the last season of the show. That was soon after TNT owner WarnerMedia merged with Discovery Inc to form Warner Bros. Discovery… and things have been pretty wild since that merger happened, with films being scrapped as tax write-offs, content purges, and streaming service shake-ups. One of their surprising “write down strategy” moves came in January of 2023, when Warner Bros. Discovery decided they wouldn’t even bother to air Snowpiercer season 4 on TNT. The show has been searching for a new home ever since. Today, Deadline reports that it has found one: AMC.
Deadline lets us know, “The first three seasons of the show will stream on AMC+ later this year and season 4 will air on the linear network and the streaming service in early 2025.” Snowpiercer is a Tomorrow Studios production.

Patience is a virtue, especially if you're a sci-fi fan.
When it comes to genre TV, science fiction and sci-fi adjacent programs are often saved when unceremoniously dumped by a network.
Jericho, Lucifer, The Expanse, and Stargate Sg-1 all found new life after cancellation. Today, Snowpiercer joins that list.
AMC Networks announced today that it has acquired the exclusive U.S. linear and streaming rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama series Snowpiercer.
The first three seasons of the critically acclaimed drama will stream on AMC+ later this year, leading up to the series’ season four premiere on AMC and AMC+ in early 2025.
This should come as excellent news for TV Fanatics, as the show always drove discussion and fueled passionate viewers with much to say.

Snowpiercer’s final season will see the light of day after all.
AMC has picked up rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama — including the completed but never aired fourth season. The series first aired on TNT, but the Warner Bros. Discovery network canceled the show in January 2023 as it and sister channels TBS and TruTV left the scripted business.
The first two seasons of Snowpiercer will begin streaming on AMC+ on June 1, with season three following a week later. The final season will debut July 21 on both AMC and AMC+ — a change from the network’s earlier plans to air the final season in early 2025.
“Snowpiercer is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase — similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series — and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said Ben Davis, executive vp original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

The pilot tentatively titled Shifting Gears comes from Duncanville cocreators Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Sully, who executive produced Last Man Standing with Allen, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina, according to Deadline. Written by the Scullys, the series would center around Allen’s character Matt, described as a stubborn widower who owns a classic car shop. (Credit: Michael Becker/Fox) When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration will begin though. As mentioned above, this would be Allen’s latest team-up with the Scullys, after he led the comedy Last Man Standing for nine seasons. Last Man Standing first began in 2011, airing for six seasons on ABC until 2017 when it was ultimately canceled.

Allen is on board to star and executive produce the multi-cam sitcom pilot — which is still a working title — which will also be written and executive produced by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully.
In the project, Allen plays Matt, the “stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”
Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker and Rick Messina are the non-writing exec producers on the show.

It looks like Netflix won't be giving "One Piece" the "Cowboy Bebop" treatment. The new live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's manga has just been renewed for a second season, as announced by the author himself. "Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news. Netflix has decided to renew the show!" Oda shared in a message via "Transponder Snail." He added: "The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward!"
The live-action "One Piece" premiered on the streamer in late August and has been met with praise from fans of both the manga and Toei Animation's long-running anime adaptation. With 20 seasons of that series and counting, plus 106 volumes of the manga, there's plenty more source material for the latest iteration of the story to pull from. The series follows a crew of adventurers called the Straw Hat Pirates, led by semi-superpowered Monkey D.

Just two weeks after the premiere of One Piece, Netflix has officially announced the live-action series has been renewed for season two. One Piece‘s creator and illustrator Eiichiro Oda even shot a short video – with the help of a Transponder Snail – confirming the good news. Oda hinted that season two will find the Straw Hat crew in need of a doctor, and then drew Tony Tony Chopper.
Oda’s message also asked fans, both those who love the popular Manga and those who were just introduced to Monkey D. Luffy and his ragtag crew, to be patient. The ongoing writers and actors strike is going to push back the start of production for the just-announced second season.
Eiichiro Oda’s full message:

One Piece, the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga, just wrapped its second week at No. 1 in Netflix’s Top 10 with another dominating performance internationally. On the heels of its splashy debut, the producers behind Netflix’s “One Piece” say scripts for a possible Season 2 are completed and that the next season could be “ready to air” in a year, once production is able to begin.
“We’ve got scripts ready,” Marty Adelstein, CEO of Tomorrow Studios, which produces the live-action “One Piece” in partnership with manga creator Eiichiro Oda and publisher Shueisha, told Variety Thursday.
Though production on a potential second season would not be able to begin until the SAG-AFTRA strike against the AMPTP has been resolved, Tomorrow Studios president Becky Clements says once they’re allowed to get going again, Season 2 could launch as early as next year.
“Realistically, hopefully, a year away, if we move very quickly, and that is a possibility,” Clements said. “Somewhere between a year and 18 months, we could be ready for air.”

One point for the Straw Hat Pirates!
One Piece soared to the top of Netflix’s English-language TV charts during its premiere week with 18.5M views from August 28 to September 3. The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga is in the Top 10 in 93 countries and No. 1 in 46 of them, according to Netflix.
As Deadline reported last week, the buzz for the series was already fairly high at launch, considering the manga and the anime version of the series already have a dedicated fan base. However, 18.5M views is not nearly as strong a start as many of Netflix’s more recent series that have made the all-time most popular list. For example, Wednesday boasted 341.23M hours viewed in its first week back in November 2022 — which would translate to about 43M views. Queen Charlotte drew about 148M hours viewed in its first week, which is about 24M views.

There’s no shortage of visually astonishing scenes in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “One Piece.” If Zoro (Mackenyu) isn’t cutting someone down with a katana between his teeth, then Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) is tearing down a building, one rubbery punch at a time. But there’s one scene that was an especially big challenge for this ambitious show: the battle with Buggy the Star Clown.
“That actually was our scariest. That is the one that we spoke about the most,” Becky Clements, the partner and president of Tomorrow Studios, told TheWrap.
Luffy’s quest to become King of the Pirates takes him to Buggy’s (Jeff Ward) circus tent, complete with a captive audience. Buggy emerges as Luffy, Zoro and Nami’s (Emily Rudd) first big foe. After escaping the showman’s traps, Luffy uses his superpowered strength to punch Buggy’s head off his body. That’s...

Exclusive: It’s been less than 24 hours since One Piece debuted on Netflix, but the buzz surrounding the series already fairly strong.
The 10-episode series launched on the streamer Thursday and, to celebrate, Netflix held fan events in 10 cities around the globe that drew thousands of straw hat pirates. Things kicked off in Los Angeles on August 24 and have traveled across the seas (much like Monkey D. Luffy himself) to hit Paris, Tokyo, Milan, Bangkok and more.
The events are just one part of an extensive campaign that Netflix has launched in support of the manga adaptation, which is expected to be quite popular.
As is expected in 2023, the streamer is also leaning heavily on social media to engage the fandom during launch and throughout the premiere weekend. In addition to its own social media assets, Netflix has also partnered with influencers across the globe to connect with current One Piece...

On paper, adapting “One Piece” — a manga filled with rubbery protagonists, giant swords, fish people and flamboyant costumes — for live-action seems like a task as foolish as trying to become King of the Pirates. But for Tomorrow Studios CEO Marty Adelstein and partner/president Becky Clements, it was a challenge they couldn’t resist.
“Because it was such a big piece of IP, beloved all over the world, we’re basically masochists,” Adelstein joked to TheWrap. “We just felt that there was a way forward to do it. And if it could be done, it would resonate with all the fans around the world. It was a challenge we couldn’t not pursue.”
It’s also a challenge that’s already paid off, at least on some level. In early January, the teams at Tomorrow Studios and ITV Studios hosted a screening attended by “One Piece’s” creator, artist Eiichiro Oda.

Eiichiro Oda, the reclusive creator of One Piece, is praising Netflix’s live-action series adaptation of his bestselling manga title ahead of its August 31 premiere.
Via a “snail phone” given to him by One Piece star Iñaki Godoy and the cast and crew of the series, Oda affirms his approval of the adaptation in a video shared on the show’s verified Instagram account.
“As a Hollywood production, the action and VFX are great, not to mention the performances by the cast. But above all I want to call attention to how perfect the Straw Hat cast are,” says Oda. “It’s like you’re watching the Straw Hats in real life, which I’d love for you to savor.”
