It’s case closed for The Rookie: Feds. The ABC series isn’t getting a season 2. The Rookie spinoff starred Niecy Nash-Betts as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie FBI agent.
‘The Rookie’ spinoff canceled after one season at ABC
The Rookie: Feds premiered in 2022 and wrapped up its first season in May 2023. While The Rookie earned a season 6 renewal in April, ABC held off on making a decision about the future of Feds, leaving the show in limbo throughout the months-long WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Now, with the writers’ strike over and the actors’ union having reached a tentative deal with the studios, the network has decided not to move forward with The Rookie: Feds Season 2, Deadline reports.

When it comes to environmental storytelling, there’s several different routes a project can take. Some have opted for scaring an audience into action (like Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up) while others have tried to Trojan horse climate messages into more uplifting fare, or take a more by-the-numbers documentary approach.
For Extrapolations, Apple TV+’s new anthology drama following eight different stories of people’s lives upended by climate change, creator Scott Z. Burns is taking inspiration from another future-looking anthology series, as star Kit Harington recalled how “Scott always described this to me as a kind of Black Mirror of a climate change show, and I think it falls in that.”
“There are thriller elements to it, there are horror elements to it and it should scare you, and it will scare you, but it’s also really thought-provoking,” Harington told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday.

The Rookie: Feds team is going undercover for a seemingly low-stakes operation in the January 24 episode, airing at 9/8c on ABC. The team gets the low-down on their latest assignment in the TV Insider exclusive clip above. Unfortunately for Brendon (Kevin Zegers) and Antoinette (Devika Bhise), their first date dinner plans will be interrupted by this case. But team leader Matthew Garza (Felix Solis) doesn’t see why their date can’t take place undercover. They can’t say it won’t be a memorable night! The gaggle of FBI agents (plus Antoinette) will be disguised as bartenders, servers, and guests at a hotel bar — no cover stories needed. “In order to control the environment on certain opps, we sometimes fill the target location with agents,” Garza explains. “Super boring,” Laura (Britt Robertson) bemoans. “And what we’re getting paid to do,” Garza quips back. Simone (Niecy Nash-Betts) is...

Devika Bhise as the widowed monarch Rani Lakshmibai shows the Victorian Brits, including Rupert Everett, what she’s capable of in this impressive drama
As Rani Lakshmibai (Devika Bhise), the titular queen in this colourful historical epic, slices and dices her way through a battlefield towards the end of the film, her foe Sir Hugh Rose (a spectacularly muttonchopped Rupert Everett) looks on with awe, intoning solemnly: “She’s like Joan of Arc!” The moment somehow sums the movie up, encapsulating The Warrior Queen of Jhansi’s signature blend of impressiveness, ridiculousness, and lustily on-the-nose messaging in one neat package.
Although the story of this young, legendary widowed monarch who became one of the leading figures in the Indian rebellion of 1857 has been told before in countless books, films, TV shows and even video games from all over the world, the makers of this international co-production have found a reasonably fresh way into the story,...

Even after two and half centuries, the valiant queen Rani of Jhansi stands as a role model and her tale of bravery is strongly instilled in the hearts and minds of the people. Director Swati Bhise brings to screen the incredible backstory of the Rani in her film ?The Warrior Queen of Jhansi?.
The director of ?The Warrior Queen of Jhansi?, Swati Bhise prepared for all the visual aesthetics of the film while the lead actress Devika Bhise stepped up a rigorous physical regime.

Every Indian has grown up listening to the tales and adventures of the valiant and fearless Rani of Jhansi. Even though everyone knows her name and her bravery, her backstory is less well known, even in her country of origin.
The film ?The Warrior Queen of Jhansi? tells the story of the Rani and her indomitable spirit.

Swati Bhise found her star in New York-raised Devika Bhise, who was not only physically adept for the role but also linguistically perfect, capable of speaking both Hindi and Marathi. ?It meant that I could get her to break into Marathi and Hindi dialogues to keep the authenticity of the script,? says Swati.
While Devika is able to understand both Hindi and Marathi, switching between both languages and English was anything but easy. ?I was terrified of it? she admits.

Brave. Fearless. Inspirational. These are the words which aptly define the Rani of Jhansi. ?The Warrior Queen of Jhansi? narrates the exemplary story of the Rani who is a symbol of valour and national pride.
The film celebrates the Rani of Jhansi who went down in the annals of history as a freedom fighter who believed in the unyielding feminine force.
While the director of the film, Swati Bhise prepared for all the visual aesthetics of the film, the actress who plays the role of the queen, Devika Bhise, stepped up into a rigorous physical regime to play the role to perfection.
Devika not only trained extensively in London with top notch stuntmen Marcus Shakesheff but also studied the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu under Master Gopakumar in India. ?It?s the oldest martial art in the world,? she explains.
?It was really tough, because you are using real weapons and can easily injure yourself.

The part Rani Lakshmibai (Devika Bhise) played during the 1857 Indian mutiny against the British East India Company is massive. A great moment of perseverance and rebellion on its own, this queen became a much-needed symbol for whom her persecuted people and dwindling allies could rally behind. Widowed five years earlier with an adopted son set to inherit the throne, England presumed a moment of weakness to seize her kingdom as its own. Believing Jhansi’s allegiance to this point gave them cause to simply take over, they didn’t anticipate her staunch opposition. Lakshmibai instead decides to train the women under her rule to sword fight like her father taught her when she was a young commoner not yet wed to the maharaja. The Company had guns; she had purpose.

Early in “The Warrior Queen of Jhansi,” there’s a scene that feels like something you’d find in a Bollywood take on “Wonder Woman,” during which Rani Lakshmibai, the feisty monarch of the title, takes time from serving as drill instructor for a unit of female troops to deal with the harrumphing skepticism of a male visitor. “Do you really think you can train these women to fight like men?” he asks. “No,” Lakshmibai confidently replies. Pause. “I will train them to fight better than men.”
Yes, “The Warrior Queen of Jhansi” is that kind of movie.
Specifically, it’s the kind of old school historical epic where charismatic upstarts lead idealistic revolts against tyrannical colonialists, outnumbered revolutionaries are by turns anxiously dreaded and condescendingly underestimated, and scowling louts periodically reveal the full depths of their industrial-strength nastiness by bellowing lines such as, “She will never surrender! She needs to be broken and destroyed!

It’s Hollywood history time at the movies this weekend, though there’s more than a bit of Bollywood in this new release. Yes, history is explored in this week’s big studio crowd-pleasing Ford V Ferrari, set in the 20th century. This other film goes back to the previous century, at just past its midpoint. While in the states the stage was being set for the Civil War, an even bigger conflict was ‘boiling over” into violence on the other side of the globe. The British were fighting the rebellious forces of the locals in India. And one of the most revered leaders of the “mutiny” was a woman, royalty actually. With her courageous spirit, hunger for freedom, and fierce fighting skills she fits right in at the multiplex alongside any of our female superheroes. But she was a real person, celebrated as The Warrior Queen Of Jhansi.

"Is that young queen still refusing to submit to company rule?" Roadside Attractions has just unveiled an official Us trailer for an Indian historical action drama titled The Warrior Queen of Jhansi, also known as Swords and Sceptres: The Rani of Jhansi while in development. A tale of women's empowerment, The Warrior Queen of Jhansi tells the true story of Lakshmibai, the historic Queen of Jhansi who fiercely led her army against the British East India Company in the infamous mutiny of 1857. She is played by Devika Bhise in this film, and seems to be a bonafide warrior of both past & present. The full cast includes Jodhi May, Rupert Everett, Derek Jacobi, Nathaniel Parker, Ben Lamb, Omar Malik, R. Bhakti Klein, Arif Zakaria, and Yatin Karyekar. This looks especially cheesy, and if it weren't a true story, I'd say this is worth skipping. But it does look like an inspiring story.

The Man Who Knew Infinity is a handsome, well-acted historical drama based on the unexpected true story of an India-born, self-taught mathematical genius. In 1913, the young genius was brought to England, by a mathematics professor at Trinity College in Cambridge, who recognized the young man’s gift despite the prejudices of the time.
Dev Patel (“Slumdog Millionaire”) plays Srinavasa Ramanujan, a poor and poorly-educated Hindu man who is obsessed with mathematics, working out ground-breaking original theorems in the dust of his local temple floor. Jeremy Irons plays mathematics professor G.H. Hardy, a flinty fellow who counts among his friends and colleagues Bertrand Russell (Jeremy Northam). The story is set against the historical backdrop of World War I, and the colonialism and cultural prejudices of the era.
Even before traveling half way around the world to the foreign culture of Great Britain, Ramanujan was already a fish-out-of-water even in his home city of Madras,...

How does one describe, let alone cinematically circumscribe ,the life of an unvarnished genius like Srinivasa Ramanujan who at the at the age of 32 had burnt himself out, scorned, smothered and snuffed out by his own unplumbed brilliance.
This is not an easy story to tell. Director Matthew Brown wisely follows the course set down by Robert Kanigel’s biography of Ramanujan. As seen through the prism of poignant artlessness and a belief that the mathematical genius flows from the will of God, true to the somber end to its unrehearsed design, the narrative seems to flow almost by divine ordinance.

A bit character in Matt Brown‘s affecting biographical drama The Man Who Knew Infinity chants “Din, Din, Din, Gunga Din” a couple times in friendly jest as a response to his employer G.H. Hardy’s (Jeremy Irons) decision to send for an uneducated South Indian man on the merits of a letter presenting the potential for mathematical genius named Srinivasa Ramanujan (Dev Patel). We laugh at the line’s delivery as well as Hardy’s humored look of contempt because we embrace levity. What’s ironic, though, is just how close to Rudyard Kipling’s tragic poem this story of a true intellectual legend proves. The “abuse” isn’t physical and Hardy almost instantly acknowledges Ramanujan to be the better mind, but similarities including its depiction of race relations between Britain and India remain.
This is why I found myself enjoying the film as much as I did.

The Man Who Knew Infinity seeks to tell a unique and, for me at least, relatively unknown story about a mathematics prodigy who faces discrimination and homesickness in his quest to prove his own theorems. Its subject is Srinivasa Ramanujen, perhaps one of the most influential mathematicians of the 20th Century, whose work shaped the future of the discipline and whose theorems still confound mathematicians to this day.
Dev Patel stars as Ramanujen, a young man from Madras, India who can calculate complex mathematical theorems without the benefit of an education or even an understanding of the formal laws of mathematics. When he sends some of his work to Cambridge mathematician G.H. Hardy (Jeremy Irons) in the hopes that the professor will help him to get it published, Hardy sees Ramanujen’s brilliance for what it is. Leaving his wife (Devika Bhise) and mother (Arundhati Nag) in Madras, Ramanujen...

Hollywood actress of Indian origin, Devika Bhise, who’s getting rave reviews for her power-packed performance in upcoming biographical drama, The Man Who Knew Infinity, which is based on the life of mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan, says that she wouldn’t mind doing a Bollywood film, provided she gets the right script.
The actress, who plays Ramanujan’s wife Janaki in the movie, is quite intrigued with Bollywood and wouldn’t mind doing a Hindi film. When asked, if she would want to work in a Bollywood film, Devika Bhise said, “Bollywood is such an interesting place and the roles and the movies that are being created, have definitely changed over the last couple of years and are continuing to change so, I think, if I get the right project, I would definitely want to do that.
