Robert Pattinson out of ‘Mission: Blacklist’ movie (photo: Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson in ‘Life’) Robert Pattinson and Mission: Blacklist have parted ways. Pattinson, whose name had been attached to the project for two years — since Cannes 2012 — has reportedly dropped out due to scheduling issues. Now, what could those issues be? Well, Robert Pattinson, best known (at least for the time being) as the vampire Edward Cullen in the immensely popular Twilight movie franchise, has no less than two movies opening at Cannes 2014: David Michôd’s thriller The Rover, co-starring Guy Pearce, which will be shown as one of Cannes’ Midnight Screenings, and David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, also featuring Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, and Carrie Fisher, and which is in the running for the Palme d’Or. There’s more: Robert Pattinson has recently completed work on Anton Corbijn’s Life, with Pattinson as photographer Dennis Stock,...

Actors like Robert Pattinson are sometimes the most interesting ones to watch as they go about crafting their career in Hollywood. Completely written-off as a legitimate talent due to his work on the Twilight series, the British thesp is now making most critics bite their tongues. With an impressive turn in Cosmopolis not too long ago, and lead roles in two very exciting upcoming films (David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars and David Michod’s The Rover), the actor is starting to turn heads again.
Add to that a whole slate of in-development projects (Lost City of Z, Life, Queen of the Desert) that will solidify his status as a leading man even further, and Robert Pattinson is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most exciting young talents (I never thought I would write that sentence).

Back in May 2012 we got a sales poster for the adaptation of Eric Maddox's book "Capturing Saddam: The Hunt for Saddam Hussein--As Told by the Unlikely Interrogator Who Spearheaded the Mission", which was to be simply titled Mission: Blacklist with Robert Pattinson set to star. Since then we haven't heard much about the project, which was to be directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire. That is, until today, and it's not a good sign. According to The Wrap, Pattinson has dropped off the project, which would have seen him playing the role of interrogator Eric Maddox on a mission to trap the world's most wanted man, Saddam Hussein. Oh, yeah, it's based on a true story, Maddox isn't an ego maniac that uses his own name for characters in his books. Sauvaire is still attached to direct with a screenplay by Erik Jendressen, Dylan Kussman and Trace Sheehan. Pattinson simply won't be involved,...

Robert Pattinson is having a hell of a year. The former “Twilight” star has two films appearing at Cannes 2014 – David Cronenberg’s “Maps To The Stars” and David Michod’s “The Rover.” His already-completed bucket list achievement includes working with Werner Herzog (“Queen of The Desert”), Anton Corbijn (“Life”) and his to-do list includes acting for auteurs like James Gray (“Lost City Of Z”), James Marsh ("Hold on to Me") and director/actor Brady Corbet (“The Childhood of a Leader”). But a busy plate often means something has to go by the wayside. So the Wrap is reporting that Pattinson has dropped out of the Saddam Hussein thriller “Mission: Blacklist.” A psychological thriller, the movie is a true story of military interrogator Eric Maddox on the hunt for the Iraqi leader, and the events that led him to uncover the wanted man in a spiderhole in Tikrit. "Band Of Brothers...

Robert Pattinson has exited “Mission: Blacklist,” an indie thriller about the hunt for Saddam Hussein, due to scheduling issues, TheWrap has learned. First announced in May 2012, Pattinson was attached to play military interrogator Eric Maddox, who spearheaded Hussein's capture. With two films premiering at Cannes, Pattinson is coming off a very active period. He just wrapped Anton Corbijn's “Life” with Dane DeHaan and did not have sufficient time to prepare for his demanding role in “Mission: Blacklist,” an individual familiar with the situation told TheWrap. The role of Maddox will now be recast, and the filmmakers hope to start production this.

In the beginning stages of transformation for a new role, Robert Pattinson headed to the gym in West Hollywood on Wednesday (September 25).
The "Twilight" star covered up in a black hooded sweatshirt, shades, and black shorts as he hurried inside to start his routine.
In "Mission: Blacklist," the 27-year-old actor plays Eric Maddox, a military man on the hunt for Saddam Hussein.
Reports say the role requires RPatz to hit the gym for four hours a day and follow a strict diet. Unfortunately, he'd rather do the opposite, as he told Sunday Style, "I don't have a six-pack and I hate going to the gym. I've been like that my whole life. I never want to take my shirt off. As reported over a year ago at Cannes and with a poster to prove it, there is a movie on its way about the manhunt for Saddam Hussein starring glittery vampire extraordinaire Robert Pattinson. Don't worry, this isn't some teen romantic drama infused with Middle Eastern political intrigue, it's set to be a pretty gritty thriller with the semi-autobiographical novel "Mission: Blacklist #1" as source material and a script written by "Band of Brothers" writer Erik Jendresen, "Dead Poets Society" actor Dylan Kussman, and relative unknown Trace Sheehan. The upcoming feature, "Mission: Blacklist" (no #1) follows military interrogator (and the novel's co-author) Eric Maddox on the hunt for Hussein, ultimately leading him to the 6 to 8 foot spider hole in Ad-Dawr filled with the Iraqi dictator, two Ak-47s, a pistol and $750,000 worth in $100 bills. Sounds pretty exciting, no? With Pattinson as Maddox and a finished script, all seemed good to go until director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire left.

R-Patz stepped out in Los Angeles looking super sexy and a little scruffy--but the star was missing something: his hair! Do you think he shaved his head? Vote below! Robert Pattinson, 26, is a hottie no matter how he wears his hair, but the Twighlight mega star seems to have significantly less hair hiding beneath his baseball cap. "We met for 14 hours and he focused exclusively on the project and wanted to get down to the nitty gritty of the project. His entire focus was on the project. It wasn't about him or his needs, and from that, I realised that this is a guy who is dedicated to his work and wanted to put in the hours. That's what made me certain that they have built the right team for this."...

Just recently we learned that Robert Pattinson was gearing up for a stint in Iraq. The actor isn't stepping away from acting to join the military (don't worry, ladies), but he will be taking post in Mission: Blacklist, a military thriller based on a book by military interrogator Eric Maddox with Davin Seay which chronicles the inside story of the search for Saddam Hussein from the point of view of Maddox himself who spearheaded his capture. Pattinson is playing Maddox himself, and since the film still needs to be sold at Cannes, a promo poster with Pattinson's dreamy eyes and a list of Iraq's most wanted has just surfaced. Here's the promo poster for Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire's Mission: Blacklist from MTV: Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, who had his film Johnny Mad Dog premiere at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival and won the Prize of Hope, will direct the adaptation of Mission: Blacklist, which...

He’s got Robert Pattinson’s eyes: Mission: Blacklist poster Robert Pattinson was officially cast in Mission: Blacklist, as American military interrogator Eric Maddox, about ten days or so ago. Producing company Embankment Films isn’t wasting any time. The sales poster for Mission: Blacklist, which will be peddled at the Cannes Film Festival, has been making the rounds online for several days. "In a World of Lies Only One Man Could See the Truth." That man was apparently Pattinson’s Maddox, who claimed to have eschewed torture while trying to figure out the whereabouts of fallen Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The brief Mission: Blacklist plot synopsis reads as follows: Unlike other Interrogators fresh out of training, Eric Maddox (Robert Pattinson) has a brilliant and beautiful mind. He has a unique ability to decipher highly complex patterns from seemingly random events. His mission is to trap the world’s most wanted man,...

Here’s the fancy new sales poster for Robert Pattinson’s new movie, Mission: Blacklist which will be doing the rounds next week when Cannes 2012 kicks off in an attempt to find funding (I’m sure it won’t take long!). It features RPatz staring at us seductively and I rather like it!
It comes from the folks over at Rope of Silicon who make the very good point that adding the colon to the title makes it appear very much in the same vein as the Mission: Impossible franchise. Who knows why the Embankment Films would go down that road but I’m sure we’ll find out in due course.
The movie is based on the true story based on the book by Eric Maddox Capturing Saddam: The Hunt for Saddam Hussein–As Told by the Unlikely Interrogator Who Spearheaded the Mission and is directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire.

The only thing I'm not a big fan of here is the title and the use of the colon. Unless you are inviting some kind or any kind of confusion with the Mission: Impossible why do this? Otherwise, Mission: Blacklist sounds interesting as we get a first look at a sales poster for the film, which will surely be floating around the Cannes marketplace next week looking for some money. Based on a true story, Mission: Blacklist is an adaptation of Eric Maddox's book "Capturing Saddam: The Hunt for Saddam Hussein--As Told by the Unlikely Interrogator Who Spearheaded the Mission." With a role in David Cronenberg's upcoming freak fest "Cosmopolis," Robert Pattinson continues to take on parts that...well, that are as far away from Edward in the "Twilight" movies as possible. And so to that end, last week he signed up to star in the thriller "Mission: Blacklist," and in case you missed the news, he'll be the guy hunting down Saddam Hussein.
With the Cannes Film Festival around the corner, the producers are gonna have to start selling this thing, so they've banged out a sales poster that feels like something that was made for a movie that was just announced last week. Featuring a hypnotic closeup on Pattinson's eyes (Squeeeeee!), the one sheet boasts a pretty generic tagline and not much else, though the weird design makes it seem like Saddam Hussein is a co-star. By now, it seems fairly obvious that this year’s Cannes Film Festival will serve as a coming out party of sorts for Robert Pattinson, at least, a coming out party for the actor’s talents beyond just sucking blood and turning girls into emotion pancakes, as he’s been doing for years with his work in The Twilight Saga. The actor’s performance in David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis looks better with every trailer released, and the film’s in-competition premiere at the festival should be a watershed moment for Pattinson.
