Ellen DeGeneres delivered a health update via Instagram today, assuring fans that she is well and feels “100%” despite contracting the coronavirus.
DeGeneres announced last week that she had tested positive for Covid-19. Today, she spoke from her home with an upbeat assessment.
“I feel really good,” the 62-year-old television host said, but added one caveat. “One thing that they don’t tell you is that you get, somehow, excruciating back pain,” she said. “Didn’t know that was a symptom, but I talked to some other people…Who knew? How come?”
Muscle pain and body aches are acknowledged by the Centers for Disease Control as a Covid-19 symptom.
Today’s update followed the Dec. 10 revelation by DeGeneres that she had tested positive. In that message, she said anyone who had been in contact with her has been notified and that she was following CDC protocols.
Fans posted get well wishes on her Wednesday video.

On February 21st, the rock band Younger Hunger released “Yung,” a new single that cataloged a litany of horrors — everything from stubbed toes to poisonous salads to vehicular manslaughter — on its way to a chorus that is stirring and alarming in equal measure: “They’re comin’ for my life!”
“The inspiration was being paranoid and looking around at all the things that can come and kill you,” says the group’s lead singer, Tony Davia. Just a month later, the song seemed scarily prescient. “We put it out, and two weeks later,...

Cougar Town continued its tradition of telling emotional, one-hour bookends to its seasons with “Don’t Fade on Me” and "Have Love Will Travel."
Chick’s recurring memory issues this season were finally diagnosed: he has Alzheimer’s. The “Old Timers Disease” is one of the saddest diagnoses a family member can get, and Jules handled it in the best way she knew how: with positivity, some wine and by latching on to a crazy idea.
Jules wanting to grant Chick’s one wish, just so he has something so powerful to hold on to as his memories begin to slip away, was the greatest present she could possibly leave him with. It was a deep and emotionally resonating moment for a show that devotes nearly every title card to self-deprecation.
Jules wanted to stay strong and positive, but her greatest fear has the potential to come true. Not only...

Cougar Town returns for season 5 in 2014
It’s been an interesting season for Cougar Town, one that’s had it’s share of emotional highs (‘Make It Better’) and overly broad comedic lows (last week’s ‘The Criminal Kind‘). Tonight’s two-part season finale falls somewhere in the middle: it’s one of the funnier episodes of the season, but is often too sentimental for its own good, despite having its heart in the right place in the most important moments, when the themes of family and hope are at their strongest.

It took place in Los Angeles, but the wedding of Scrubs star Donald Faison to Texas native Cacee Cobb was decidedly a Southern affair. Other guests included Ashlee Simpson, Seth Green, Faison's Scrubs costar Sarah Chalke and Clueless costars Breckin Meyer, Elisa Donovan and Stacey Dash. "Everyone was teary-eyed,...

Janet Devlin has unveiled some new material online. On Friday (October 26), the former X Factor contestant uploaded a video to her YouTube account which includes footage of her performing tracks live at Steelworks Studios in Sheffield. Earlier this month, Devlin confirmed that she had been working with songwriters including Newton Faulkner and Joshua Radin. The teenager described (more)...

Oh boy, Zac Efron's "The Lucky One" is coming, and in case you couldn't tell, this was his "serious" movie. Director Scott Hicks ("Shine," "Snow Falling On Cedars," "No Reservations") is going to make sure you feel it in every frame.
A handful of clips from the film have emerged, totaling over five minutes, and they find Efron playing an Iraq war veteran (snicker), who credits the photo of a woman named Beth, whom never met, for saving his life. Instead of going to therapy like most people would, he tracks her down and a romance begins. Oh yeah, this is based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. So, how can we tell little Zac is damaged? Well, they've got him wearing a scruffy half-beard (giggle) and in order to amp up the drama this thing is bathed drowned in Thomas Kinkade-style Golden Lighting emerging from every cinematic orifice.

Fox Janette Manrara and Marko Germar on “So You Think You Can Dance”
We’re down to the top four, and the final two shows! The four will dance solos, partner with All-Stars, dance with each other, and have mini-interviews with Cat.
Who will be crowned America’s favorite dancer? Tonight’s your last chance to vote!
Cat’s in a strapless, blingy, sparkly dress, with her hair up and red lipstick. And, for once, even the hemline is very nice.

I have a weakness for Zach Braff and the music of Joshua Radin. Maybe that's why I'm showing you this trailer for The High Cost Of Living. Basically Braff's character is much like his character in Garden State, just a little bit older. He's the single guy with no direction in life, partying it up, and at a constant stand still. The moment that changes everything is when he hits a girl with his car. To top it off, the chick is pregnant. Braff's character ends up spending time with her,...

I was lucky enough to get to preview multi-hyphenate Schuyler Fisk’s upcoming album, “Blue Ribbon Winner,” this past week and I honestly enjoyed every second of it. A singer, songwriter, and actress, Fisk has been on my radar musically since I heard her duet with Joshua Radin on The Last Kiss soundtrack for the track “Paperweight,” and this album fulfilled the appetite I had for more of her work.

Rapper joins late Tupac Shakur as artist who reached #1 while in prison.

Lil Wayne

Though it's not a club many musicians are rushing to join, Lil Wayne will make his mark alongside the late Tupac Shakur next week when the physical copy of Weezy's latest album, I Am Not a Human Being, debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The digital copy of the album — which, like Shakur's 1995 Me Against the World, will hit the top spot while Wayne is incarcerated — debuted at #2 two weeks ago with sales of 110,000, while the in-store copy bested those numbers, moving 125,000 in its first week, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.
Wayne leads a quartet of new albums crashing the top of the chart, including former Hootie and the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker, whose second country album, Charleston, Sc 1966, comes in at #2 with 101,000 in sales. It's...

Our typically enthusiastic Life Unexpected critic was harsher than usual this week, not loving a few of the storylines on "Criminal Incriminated."
But this show never fails to deliver in the music department at least, as the following songs were played throughout the hour. Download them now with the click of a mouse:
Vetiver - "Everyday" The Marys - "Let's Dance" Motocade - "Holy Moly" The Heavenly States - "Lost in the Light" Joshua Radin - "Brand New Day"...

Singer-songwriter doesn’t make any waves Joshua Radin’s latest, The Rock and The Tide, is a 13-part ode to starting fresh—though, unfortunately, this theme is hardly apparent in the music itself. The album is bookended by up-tempo tracks about setting your sights on something new (opener “Road to Ride On”) and being content once you’ve moved “past your past” (concluding “Brand New Day”). The idea of renewal is brought up over and over again, interrupted occasionally by straightforward love songs that range from the simple but sultry “You Got What I Need” to “Think I’ll Go Inside” and “Wanted,” pitiable accounts...

Jonathan Novack the weatherman and Jesse Beck the general contractor have been eliminated from "The Bachelorette". Ali Fedotowsky chose to let them go in the fourth episode airing Monday, June 14, leaving nine including bad boy Justin Rego to compete for her heart.
Both Jonathan and Jesse were in the group date along with Roberto, Craig, Kirk, Frank and Ty. These men were pitted against each other in an audition for "The Lion King" stage performance in order to win a date with Ali. Roberto won the challenge, leaving Jesse who was lauded for his golden voice and the rest of the boys in dismay.
On the better side, Chris L. earned the first rose of the night when he took care of ill Ali. The landscaper who had his birthday that day was also treated to a rooftop concert from Joshua Radin and a kiss from Ali.

(S06E04) Welcome back, Ali-coholics -- it was a surreal episode this week. Just when we thought 'The Bachelorette' couldn't get any weirder, Kasey decides to burst into song ... well, kind of.
The self-proclaimed guard and protector of Ali's heart (seriously, how many times was that line uttered this episode?) won the first one-on-one date this week -- a whirlwind tour around New York City, including a helicopter ride above the skyline. For a chick who's afraid of flying, Ms. Fedotowski sure does a lot of jet-setting, doesn't she?
The date also included Ali and Kasey's own madcap reenactment of 'Night at the Museum,' and Kasey's first misguided attempt at singing (yes, there was more than one). Ali seemed as bewildered and creeped out as we were -- nervously laughing to fill the looong silence that followed his impromptu performance. Awkwaaard.

ABC is releasing some details regarding the upcoming sixth season of "The Bachelorette" starring Jake Pavelka's lost love Ali Fedotowsky.
Highlights of the season include trips to Iceland, Turkey, Portugal and Tahiti, a Broadway competition featuring "The Lion King," a music video with the Barenaked Ladies, an InStyle photo shoot and private concerts by Jamie Cullum, Joshua Radin and the Harlem Boys Choir.
It begins with 25 eligible men arriving from all over the country, including a real estate investor, a lawyer, a TV weatherman and even a professional wrestler. One outdoorsman literally tries to reel her in, a hunky skier does a death-defying back flip off the limo and a one man even gets down on one knee and proposes. An aspiring writer is the first to snag some alone time with Ali, sharing his very inspiring story. One man scores some points with a sentimental scrapbook he made for her,...

Season 9 "American Idol" top 5
Photo: Fox
One year ago, under the tutelage of Jamie Foxx, the "American Idol" kids welcomed the gentlemen of the Rat Pack into the Nokia Theatre. Season eight's Danny Gokey wowed the judges with a bluesy take on "Come Rain or Come Shine" and Adam Lambert donned a shiny white suit for a rendition of "Feeling Good" that Kara DioGuardi called "confusing and shocking and sleazy and superb!"
This season, the invitations for Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and all but one of the Rat Packers must have gotten lost in the mail, because only Frank Sinatra will be represented on Tuesday night's (May 4) live show. Come rain or come shine, Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze and the rest of the top five will attempt to fly "Idol" voters to the moon.

Elsewhere in the chart, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake broke into the top ten, jumping ten places to reach number six with 'Carry Out'. Meanwhile, Joshua Radin just missed out on the top ten with his single 'I'd Rather Be With You', going straight in at number 11. However, Delirious? dropped out of the top 40 after an online campaign propelled them to number four last week. The top ten singles in full (click (more)...

Joshua Radin has complained about talent shows like The X Factor and American Idol. The singer told the Daily Star that he wants the music industry to become more "organic". He explained: "It would be nice if the people that Simon Cowell is sending out into the world could actually play instruments, write their own songs, and have something to say. I would like to bring pop music back into something that's more organic and honest." Radin added that he is disappointed that pop music (more)...

The Dear John soundtrack. Imagine, if you will, that musical quality is a beachside stretch of highway, bathed in California sun, with a big white line straight down the middle. One side of the road is the side of good tunes, and the other is the side of gloopy monotonous bilge. The Dear John soundtrack swerves from one side to the other and back like an outtake from Death Proof.
Dear John is adapted from a novel by the author of The Notebook and directed by Lasse Hallstrom, whose previous work includes Chocolat and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (his earlier Danish film My Life As A Dog is probably his best work), and it’s an old fashioned weepy romance from the Mills-and-Boon-with-pretentions end of the scale, so it’s no surprise that the soundtrack consists of ten sentimental love songs. What is surprising is just how alternately terrible/quite good the songs are.

Folk/pop singer crafts familiar, fleetingly enjoyable assortment of songs
There is a tangible sincerity to Joshua Radin. While his brand of singer/songwriter tunes aren't terribly original, they never feel false or fabricated. Simple Times, his sophomore release, is just that: simple. It sticks to his formula of pensive, vaguely introspective lyrics (example: "you make your past your past") echoed through his hushed, whisper-thin voice, peppered with wistful piano and string arrangements. Songs like "One of Those Days" and lead single "I'd Rather Be With You" are fleetingly pleasant. "Sky," the sprightly confection with fellow Hotel Café artist Meiko, is charming and earnest ("Sometimes I forget to love you like I should / But I'd never leave you / No, I never would"). The muted, melancholic "They Bring Me To You" is a stunning standout, with pitch-perfect vocals from Erin McCarley that melt in tune with Radin's. When Radin strays too far from the formula,...
