In the foothills surrounding Louisville, Kentucky, a post-modern mansion was recently overtaken by Bardstown Bourbon Company. Dubbed the “House of Bardstown,” the interactive two-night pop-up event tantalized the senses — this seamless blend of whiskey, ingenuity, and fellowship in the heart of bourbon country.
“‘House of Bardstown’ is a way to bring the company and all that magic to consumers on the road,” says Dan Callaway, vice president of product development for Bardstown.
Formed in 2016, Bardstown Bourbon Company is known as the “most technically advanced distillery.” Across its 400-acre distilling property...

Queen Kwong performs a pole dance for a dirty rat in a new video for “The Mourning Song,” a track off her recent Couples Only album. “I’ve only ever loved one man and you weren’t that guy,” she sings over deceptively gentle indie-rock guitars. “But I tried and I tried.” As she describes the breakdown of a relationship — “You said it would be the end of my life,” she sings, “But at least I’m not dead inside” — it builds to her repeating, “Mourning will break your heart,...

A judge has dismissed Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland’s request to sanction his ex-wife, Carré Kwong Callaway over opinions expressed in an album review, as well as an interview she gave to Bandcamp Daily.
In January, a judge heard Borland’s claims that Callaway, a musician who records as Queen Kwong, violated an anti-defamation clause in their divorce agreement by describing how a song on her recent Couples Only album referenced the grief she felt for a cat that had died after Borland made her leave the marital home...

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
Nearly a decade after the last Dtv entry, The Amityville Horror finally returned to theaters. This was thanks, in large part, to the success of Platinum Dunes’ 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which kicked off a wave of horror remakes..
TCM 2003 set the precedent for the look and tone of many of the aughts remakes. This is clearly visible from the opening murder montage of director Andrew Douglas’ film: staccato editing of grainy archival footage set to an industrial score. This isn’t your mother’s true crime story; this is amped up, gritty, and slightly desaturated-looking. It’s MTV music video chic by way of Se7en.

Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, who cowrote the band’s “Break Stuff” and “Nookie” and also fronts his own group, Big Dumb Face, is using his ire at how an album review interpreted his ex-wife’s latest record as fuel for a legal action against her, accusing her of defamation. The filing also cites an interview that ex-wife Carré Callaway (aka indie rocker Queen Kwong) gave the same writer for another publication. Callaway rose to prominence using the Queen Kwong name about a decade ago, after her moody, personal music...

BBC America paid its final respects to “Killing Eve” in April; now, “Doctor Who” is (time-) traveling away to Disney+. Guess what BBC America’s top two shows were?
The extremely long-running British series will now stream on Disney+ outside of the UK and Ireland. While we’re about a year out from that deal’s debut, the “intention” is for “Doctor Who” on Disney+ to stream the same day episodes air on Britain’s BBC One, a person with knowledge of the plans told IndieWire. For the next few years, BBC America, a joint venture between AMC Networks and BBC Studios, will continue to have the linear license for several prior seasons of “Doctor Who.” The limited catalogue will include all of the Jodie Whittaker seasons and a dozen specials.
Disney’s “Doctor Who” deal follows a somewhat similar platform change for “Dancing With the Stars,” which is produced...

Eighties nostalgia is alive and well in Hollywood, it seems! Not only did Peacock TV recently reboot the beloved Punky Brewster and Saved by the Bell series to much fanfare, but Fred Savage is currently executive producing a reimaging of his hit show The Wonder Years, and the eagerly anticipated third season of Netflix’s Karate Kid-inspired Cobra Kai hit the streaming giant at the start of the year, immediately securing the No. 1 spot. The latter, which debuted in 2018 and is set 34 years after Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) defeated Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) in the 1984 All Valley Karate Championship at the end of the first film, sees the two adversaries on opposite sides of the mat yet again, this time as adults, and has proved highly popular with audiences. And now, the house where a grown-up Daniel lives with his wife and children on the series is up for sale!
