Chicago – Chicago is acknowledged as one of the great comedy cities in the world mostly for The Second City influence. However like other cities, there is an ebb and flow regarding stand-up comedy, and during the late 1980s/early 1990s there was a stand-up boom in the Windy City, chronicled in the film “Out of the Loop.” Producer Scott Perlman provides the context behind the documentary, now available for free on Plex and Tubi, and for download on various platforms.
“Out of the Loop” is familiar documentary form, but there are several twists in the story that occur, exposing the uniqueness of Chicago … one of the main ones being the great divide between Black and White comics, also divided geographically between South and North sides. T.J. Miller is best known for his work alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool as the bartender Weasel, but before that, he first collaborated with Michael Bay on the Transformers franchise, Age of Extinction. After his experience there, the actor did not seem eager enough to work with the director anymore.

2023 happens to be the 15th anniversary of the release of the creature feature Cloverfield (watch it Here), which was directed by Matt Reeves and spawned an anthology franchise, being followed by Dan Trachtenberg’s 10 Cloverfield Lane and Julius Onah’s The Cloverfield Paradox. Last year, Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari signed on to direct a new Cloverfield sequel from a screenplay by iBoy writer Joe Barton. The only information we’ve really learned about this new Cloverfield sequel is that, unlike the original film, it won’t be presented in the found footage style. But during an interview with CinemaBlend, 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg revealed that the film is setting aside the anthology approach to be a direct sequel to the original film. He also said that it’s going to be “very cool”.

Jon Heder and T.J. Miller are set to star in a web3 animated series inspired by the collapse of crypto bank Ftx.
Miller (Silicon Valley) has been cast to play a character inspired by Sam Bankman-Fried in workplace comedy Fortun3 loosely inspired by the implosion of Ftx last year. Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) is also joining the series.
Web3 story studio Toonstar is producing and, in what it calls an industry first, will also release an AI-powered companion game in which token holders guide characters through a series of life decisions and moral dilemmas similar to board game The Game of Life.
As the series storyline, the impacts will be felt by corresponding chapters of the companion game. AI will power the development of original characters and shareable digital comic books based on token holders’ gameplay. Players will also be able to earn their characters a role in the animated series.

With the WGA currently picketing and a looming SAG-AFTRA strike already impacting San Diego Comic-Con with several film and TV companies, i.e. Marvel, Lucasfilm, Sony, Universal, Netflix skipping, Lord knows what a truncated and tamer Comic-Con is going to look like from July 19-23, especially after an explosive 2022 which repped the confab’s return to in-person after going dark for two years during Covid for 2020 and 2021. However, here’s a glimpse at the first 3-days. Some shows and movies have promised cast appearances, but that’s still Tbd given that the SAG-AFTRA contract expires on July 12, and actors aren’t permitted to promote their wares during a work stoppage. During the Second World War, the Nazis found the body of a British Royal Marine floating in the sea off the coast of Spain. To their surprise, they discovered that the case attached to the dead man's wrist contained top-secret documents related to the Allies' imminent invasion of Sardinia and Greece. Hitler jumped right on it and diverted troops and tank divisions to the region to ward off the attack.
The siege never came, however, because the Allies invaded Sicily instead. It was all a big fake out -- British intelligence had dressed the corpse of a deceased homeless person as the mysterious messenger and deposited it near the Spanish coast by submarine in the hope that the Nazis would find it and take the bait. The elaborate ruse was named Operation Mincemeat.
In 2007, a similarly covert viral marketing campaign teased the latest project from producer J.J. Abrams. Making its debut before "Transformers,...

Exclusive: Rob Delaney (Catastrophe) has closed a deal to return for Deadpool 3, joining the Ryan Reynolds-led ensemble of the threequel that Shawn Levy will direct and produce for Marvel Studios.
Reynolds and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will also produce, as previously announced, working from a script by Reynolds, Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese and Zeb Wells.
While Deadpool 3‘s plot is under wraps, past installments have followed the misadventures of Wade Wilson (Reynolds), the foul-mouthed mercenary who transforms into the immortal superhero known as Deadpool following a disfiguring science experiment.
Delaney’s character Peter joins Deadpool and Weasel (T.J. Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com audio film review for the newly released “Out of the Loop,” an overview of the Chicago stand up scene, with many notable names that began their career in the Windy City. Currently available through Video On Demand, since April 11th.

“Out of the Loop” is a talking head documentary, but there are several twists in the story that occur that exposes the uniqueness of Chicago … one of the main ones being the great divide between Black and White comics, also divided geographically between South and North sides. The truth, in this case, sets several comics free and emphasizes the lost legend of the late Bernie Mac. Featuring well know and lesser known comic talents including goddess Judy Tenuda (who recently passed away), Jeff Garlin, T,J Miller, Megan Gailey, Hannibal Burress, Deon Cole, Dwayne Kennedy, Marsha Warfield, Lil Real Howery and SNL-er Chris Redd,...

Two more vets have signed on to return for Deadpool 3, with Morena Baccarin, who plays the Merc With a Mouth’s love interest Vanessa, and Stefan Kapicic, who plays Colossus, confirmed in a Deadline report. While Vanessa was infamously killed off in Deadpool 2, fans will remember that in the post-credits sequence from that film, Deadpool used Cable’s time travelling device to save her (along with killing Ryan Reynolds himself after he read the infamous script for Green Lantern). Last week, Baccarin’s return seemed to be in doubt, with her saying it “may or may not work out.” Clearly, it did, and indeed Baccarin joins a cast stacked with returning characters, including Leslie Uggams as Blind Al and Karan Soni as Dopinder, Deadpool’s driver. That leaves Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead unaccounted for, although she’s widely expected to return. Only T.J Miller, who played Weasel,...

The 2020 film "Underwater" takes place in 2050 in a drilling facility at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest known spot in the ocean. It's about seven miles under the sea and subject to intense pressure, and in the film, unknown creatures threaten the lives of the crew who work there. The escape pods are gone, people are dying, and the survivors have to walk along the ocean floor to get to safety if there is any to be found.
William Eubank directed the film, and joining star Kristen Stewart in the cast are Vincent Cassel, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr., Mamoudou Athie, and T.J. Miller. The production obviously didn't film in the actual Mariana Trench, but it was a rough shoot for the cast and crew nonetheless. Despite its kaiju trappings, Cloverfield always seemed like an unlikely movie to earn a sequel, let alone a franchise. One of the best entries of the 2000s found footage craze, Cloverfield was less a killer monster movie and more character driven, focusing largely on Rob (Michael Stahl-David) making his way across a devastated New York City to reunite with his ex-girlfriend Beth (Odette Yustman). When their story ended, so did sequel chances.
But that wasn’t always the plan. Talking about the movie’s 15th anniversary, director Matt Reeves recalled the sequel hook he included in the original film. “I did something in the movie when Hud [the videographer played by Tj Miller] is on the bridge before the tail comes and smashes the Brooklyn Bridge in half,” Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s a moment where you actually see someone filming him and you realize, “Oh, there’s another perspective on this evening.

We’re happy to report that this Goddard – Abrams – Reeves monster thriller holds up, when most everything else from the years of shaky-cam nausea and ‘found footage’ boredom disappoints. The ‘found’ video recording of the end of NYC is more than a gimmick, and it brings the panic for a you-are-there night of mayhem, chaos and destruction. The show was engineered to look like low-grade amateur video footage . . . so . . . why a 4K presentation? Curious format-philes will want to know.

If you are looking for a perfect mix of humor, action, and cold savagery, then you should consider watching the Deadpool movies in order. Owing to the brilliant execution of the character by Ryan Reynolds and the great chemistry shared by him with his costar Morena Baccarin, the movie series has become almost a household name.
As a part of 20th Century Fox’s X-men series, the Deadpool film series began with the release of “Deadpool.”
Deadpool’s first film was released in 2016 and is based on the Marvel Comic character of the same name. Being one of the important parts of the X-men franchise, it was produced with an estimated budget of 58 million and earned a gross of 782.6 million worldwide.

Ryan Reynolds is a Swiftie! Et’s Rachel Smith spoke to the 46-year-old actor on the red carpet for his latest film, “Spirited”, in New York City on Monday, and he reacted to the fan theory that Taylor Swift is going to make a cameo in “Deadpool 3”.
The theory began circulating in September when Reynolds released a teaser for “Deadpool 3”. Fans realized that that video was shot at the same location as Swift’s “All Too Well: The Short Film”, causing some to think that Swift was going to appear in the upcoming flick. However, Reynolds was quick to shoot that theory down.
“If we shoot the next Deadpool film in our house, then that would be that location,” Reynolds joked to Et.
Whether or not the moment was meant to be an Easter egg, Reynolds confirmed that he’d “of course” be down to have Swift appear in the upcoming movie.

Hugh Jackman just teased his recently announced return as the beloved X-Men member Wolverine while wishing his friend and “Deadpool 3” co-star Ryan Reynolds a happy birthday on Sunday.
Jackman showed off his singing skills in a video he posted to Twitter which sees the actor humming happy birthday as he serenades two portraits of Reynolds, one being the black-and-white photo of the Canadian star performing a heel click with a good luck note attached to it — the same portrait Reynolds gifted Jackman back in February for the opening night of his Broadway revival show The Music Man.
Jackman then signed off the birthday video with one of Wolverine’s most iconic lines: “I’m the best there is at what I do, but what I do isn’t very nice.”

Scarlett Johansson has revealed that Joaquin Phoenix had to flee the set of Her when she was recording her fake orgasms.
Released in 2014, Her follows the story of Theodore Twombly (Phoenix), a man who develops a relationship with Samantha (Johansson), an artificially intelligent virtual assistant personified through a female voice.
During a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the 37-year-old actor spoke about the scene from the film where her character was required to record herself fake orgasming.
Johansson remembered the time when Phoenix literally had to leave the film set due to her fake orgasm recordings.
“We tried to get through one take, and he was, like, losing it,” Johansson said. “He left the studio. He needed a break.

Issa Rae has claimed that the response to the allegations against Ezra Miller have shown “the lengths that Hollywood will go to to protect” alleged offenders.
In recent years, a number of allegations have been levelled against Miller, including those of disorderly conduct, assault and burglary.
The actor, who uses they/them pronouns, was also accused of grooming and “psychologically manipulating, physically intimidating and endangering the safety and welfare” an 18-year-old by her father.
However, the teenager denied that she had been abused, calling the accusations against Miller “a disgusting and irresponsible smear campaign”.
In August, Miller apologised for their actions, saying that they had been “going through an intense period of crisis”.
“I want to apologise to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour,” they said. “I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.

Billy Bragg has hit back at Jk Rowling after she appeared to accuse him of supporting “rape and death theats” by backing Graham Norton’s view on transgender rights.
On Thursday (13 October), Bragg posted a tweet praising TV host Graham Norton for his comments about so-called “cancel culture” while attending Cheltenham Literature Festival. Norton also commented on the media’s coverage of the debate surrounding trans rights.
Reposting a clip of Nortan’s talk, Bragg wrote: “Norton really good here on John Cleese.
“Telling him that cancel culture is just accountability, and Jk Rowling, suggesting that the media talk directly to trans teens and their parents rather than merely amplifying the takes of a celebrity.”
Rowling was quick to respond to Bragg, writing: “Very much enjoying the recent spate of bearded men stepping confidently onto their soapboxes to define what a woman is and throw their support behind rape and...

Bill Murray “absolutely hated” some of the cast of Saturday Night Live, according to Rob Schneider.
Schneider appeared as a guest on Thursday’s episode (13 October) of SiriusXM’s The Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show.
The Grown-Up’s star claimed that Murray particularly hated Adam Sandler and the late Chris Farley.
The subject of their alleged feud arose after the hosts discussed rumours about Robert Shaw’s reportedly difficult behaviour on the set of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws.
“That’s the same thing with Bill Murray,” Shcneider suggested. “I won’t say who the filmmaker was, but ‘Bill Murray is gonna come, he’s gonna change the…dialogue. He’s gonna change things, and it’s gonna be great, but you don’t know who you’re gonna get. Which Bill Murray you’re gonna get. The nice Bill Murray? Or you’re gonna get the tough Bill Murray?’”

Marvel fans are convinced the She-Hulk finale teased an exciting Bruce Banner storyline.
The finale of She-Hulk: Attorney-at-Law was released on Thursday (13 October), and many viewers think the episode set up a chapter for Hulk that fans have been requesting for some time.
This storyline would position Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner as World War Hulk – one of, if not the most unbeatable forces in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In episode two, Hulk, in his Smart form that was introduced in Avengers: Endgame, leaves Earth to “take care” of “somet things” and, in the finale, he returns with a surprise in store – he has a son named Skaar.

Those hoping for T.J. Miller to reprise his role as Weasel in Deadpool 3 are about to get their hearts broken. When Miller was introduced in the first feature back in 2016, he was a fun supporting character that helped liven the world of Wade Wilson thanks to some witty banter and fun dialogue between him and Ryan Reynolds. Then, the sexual allegations came out. Miller was accused of rape and assaulting a woman during his time in college, and as you can imagine, this had a huge impact on his rising career. Miller denied the allegations. The actor was

A new film is said to be so shocking and violent that people are “passing out” in the cinema.
On Thursday 4 October, Damien Leone unveiled his sequel Terrifier 2 in the US, and horror fans have been flocking to watch the film. It has consequently become a word-of-mouth hit.
This is possibly due to the fact that social media is filled with posts from people who claim to have either passed out or vomited from the violence depicted in the film.
The film, which Bloody Disgusting called “the kind of horror movie that just doesn’t really exist anymore”, is a sequel to 2016 film Terrifier, which follows a sadistic killer known as Art the Clown.
Terrifier 2 catches up with a newly resurrected Art as he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.

Tj Miller has claimed that Ryan Reynolds contacted him after he said he had a “weird” experience with the Deadpool actor during filming.
The former Silicon Valley star, who played Weasal in the first two Deadpool films, said in a recent podcast interview that Reynolds’s alleged on-set behaviour left him with no desire to work with the actor again.
“Would I work with him again? No, I would not work with him again,” Miller said during an appearance on the Adam Corolla Show podcast earlier this month. “But I’ve said that about Michael Bay, and now we’re friends, and I would work with him again. But I think Michael Bay is different.”
Miller explained: “We had a really weird moment on Deadpool where he said, ‘Let’s do one more take.’ And then as the character, he was horrifically mean to me as if I’m Weasel.

Almost six months after Bill Murray’s alleged “inappropriate behaviour” on the set of Being Mortal led to the production being shut down, details of the incident have emerged.
Being Mortal is Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, and is based on surgeon Atul Gawande’s 2014 book, Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End. As well as directing, Ansari – who helms his own Netflix show Master of None – wrote and was set to star in the film, alongside Seth Rogen.
In a new report from Puck writer Eriq Gardner, multiple sources describe Murray, 72, allegedly straddling and kissing a “much younger” female production staffer who “interpreted his actions as entirely sexual” and was “horrified”.
The woman is not named, but the writer claims she is not actor Keke Palmer, who also stars in the film, as has been speculated.
Gardner writes: “This much younger woman, Murray felt, had been flirting with him.

Game of Thrones fans are learning a lot more about the Targaryens thanks to House of the Dragon.
HBO’s new spin-off series continued on Sunday (9 October), transporting viewers back to the world of Westeros – albeit one set more than 150 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
The series isn’t just aimed at viewers of the original series, though. There have already been several moments where it became clear the prequel will reward readers of George Rr Martin’s Fire & Blood, as well as his A Song of Ice and Fire book series.
In the latest instalment, the series harked back once again to a time long before even this series begins – a time whe Aegon the Conqueror was ruler of the Seven kingdoms.
One key scene, which was requested by Martin himself, sees King Viserys (Paddy Considine) tell his daughter and heir Princess Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) about...
