Julian Silva is an acclaimed musician, producer and composer with more than 17 years of experience in the music industry. While he is primarily known as a percussionist, his balanced repertoire of instrumental knowledge also includes wind and string instruments.
Most notably, Julian is recognized in the Salsa genre for his work with La Excelencia, a band he co-founded in 2005. With La Excelencia, Julian recorded, produced and composed three albums: Salsa Con Conciencia (2006), Mi Tumbao Social (2009), and Ecos Del Barrio (2012). His works have been received with measurable success in both national and international markets, resulting in tours and sold-out performances in more than 16 European and Latin American countries, as well as the United States. Julian has also had the honor of sharing performance bills with great artists including: Buena Vista Social Club, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, The Wailers, Ozomatli, Juan Luis Guerra, Oscar D'Leon, Eddie Palmieri, Calle 13, El Gran Combo, Grupo Niche, Havana D' Primera, Conjunto Classico, Larry Harlow, Ismael Miranda, Alfredo De La Fe, Spanish Harlem Orquesrta, Cheo Feliciano, Adalberto Santiago, DLG, Sargent Garcia, and Los Van Van.
Julian's musical compositions have also garnered worldwide media exposure and have been featured in a variety of television programs, fitness videos, independent films and numerous CD compilations including, FOX's So You Think You Can Dance, Zumba Fitness, NFL's Monday Night Football, BBC's Latin Music USA - Live at the Barbican Theater, P-Star Rising and The Big Shot Caller, Press coverage of Julian's musical endeavors has appeared in The New York Times, Latin Beat Magazine, The New York Daily News, NY1 News and ABC's "Tiempo."
