There’s light at the end of the tunnel for Snowpiercer, after all.
The post-apocalyptic drama on wheels was canceled after three seasons by TNT in January 2023, despite previously scoring a renewal for a fourth — and final — season.
At the time of the cancellation, the entirety of the fourth season was in the can, meaning that an ending had been filmed, but producers would need to find a new outlet to air the episodes.
Truthfully, we lost hope the episodes would see the light of day because it was the latest in a long line of financially driven decisions by Warner Bros. Discovery, which had already scrapped the already-completed Batgirl movie, among other things.
As the weeks turned into months, the chance of Snowpiercer securing a home to air its final-ever episodes looked bleak … until AMC stepped up to the plate this week.

TNT‘s series adaptation of Bong Joon Ho’s “Snowpiercer” (which was based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob) kicked off back in 2020, with three seasons aired between 2020 and 2022. Season 4 has already been filmed, but it won’t be airing on TNT. As we learned last year, TNT made the decision to cut ties with the brand entirely.
The good news? The upcoming season has been given a second chance at life.
Variety reports this afternoon that “Snowpiercer” Season 4 has been acquired by AMC – along with the previous three seasons – and it’ll finally premiere on AMC in early 2025.
Variety notes, “It had already been announced Season 4 would be the show’s last before TNT parent company Warner Bros. Discovery decided to not air Season 4 altogether in a cost-cutting move. Producer Tomorrow Studios then shopped the show to other outlets.”

Patience is a virtue, especially if you're a sci-fi fan.
When it comes to genre TV, science fiction and sci-fi adjacent programs are often saved when unceremoniously dumped by a network.
Jericho, Lucifer, The Expanse, and Stargate Sg-1 all found new life after cancellation. Today, Snowpiercer joins that list.
AMC Networks announced today that it has acquired the exclusive U.S. linear and streaming rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama series Snowpiercer.
The first three seasons of the critically acclaimed drama will stream on AMC+ later this year, leading up to the series’ season four premiere on AMC and AMC+ in early 2025.
This should come as excellent news for TV Fanatics, as the show always drove discussion and fueled passionate viewers with much to say.

Snowpiercer’s final season will see the light of day after all.
AMC has picked up rights to all four seasons of the post-apocalyptic drama — including the completed but never aired fourth season. The series first aired on TNT, but the Warner Bros. Discovery network canceled the show in January 2023 as it and sister channels TBS and TruTV left the scripted business.
The first two seasons of Snowpiercer will begin streaming on AMC+ on June 1, with season three following a week later. The final season will debut July 21 on both AMC and AMC+ — a change from the network’s earlier plans to air the final season in early 2025.
“Snowpiercer is an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with a loyal fanbase — similar to the passionate fandoms we serve across our biggest franchise series — and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+,” said Ben Davis, executive vp original programming at AMC Networks and AMC Studios.

The final season of Snowpiercer has finally found a home.
The fourth season of the sci-fi drama will air on AMC after the company acquired the rights to the Tomorrow Studios-produced series. It comes after TNT scrapped the show last year as part of a wider Warner Bros. Discovery content write down strategy.
Deadline revealed in January 2023 that the fourth season wouldn’t air on its original home, as part of a slew of content cuts that also including the axing of Batgirl, Abrams’ HBO drama Demimonde, and TBS series such as The Big D, Chad and Kill The Orange Bear.
It is the latest series that AMC has saved after being scrapped elsewhere; the network bought Captain Nemo series Nautilus after it was cut by Disney+.

Four years ago, actor Dave Franco made his feature directorial debut with the horror film The Rental, which happened to star his wife Alison Brie. Now Deadline reports that Franco and Brie are set to share the screen in the upcoming horror film Together, which they will also be producing, with first-time feature filmmaker Michael Shanks writing and directing.
Tango, Picturestart, and 30West are providing the financing, while Picturestart, Tango, 1.21, and Princess Pictures produce alongside Franco and Brie.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Deadline was able to learn that Together is about “the horror of co-dependency, told in a unique way.” Of course, they’re not ready to tell us just how the film will be approaching this subject matter in a unique way.

Revel in Ana Lily Amirpour's ‘Bad City' where the luscious chiaroscuro of depravity meets style and substance in the first ‘Iranian vampire western' -coined by the UCLA graduate with her feature directorial debut. It seems that TNT is officially out of the original scripted series business. The cable channel has cancelled plans to air the fourth and final season of Snowpiercer. The episodes have been produced and season four will be shopped elsewhere. There's also a possibility that the show's universe will keep chugging along.

Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Chris Naoki Lee’s feature directorial debut, Dinner Party, in which he stars alongside Kara Wang (Top Gun: Maverick), Imani Hakim (Mythic Quest) and Kausar Mohammed (The Flash). The global indie distributor has slated the pic for a day-and-date release on August 19.
Inspired by Lee’s own experiences growing up in a diverse community outside of Los Angeles, the indie ensemble drama follows Izzy (Hakim) and boyfriend Cal (Lee) as they go to a casual reunion dinner party amongst Cal’s childhood friends 10 years after high school. The friends navigate socially sensitive topics, though some fall on deaf ears when it comes to the hyper-masculine Miles (Charles Hittinger). It doesn’t take long for Izzy to notice that Shannon (Wang), co-host and childhood friend to the boys, seems uncomfortable around Miles, as the film simmers into a slow burn that erupts in the final act.

Production on TNT’s “Snowpiercer” has been stopped due to safety concerns involving extremely high temperatures on set (via Deadline). The series was filming in British Columbia, where temperatures frequently reached the mid-90s. Multiple cast and crew members experienced cases of heat exhaustion, and 14 people were reportedly taken to the local hospital for treatment. Soon after, producers made the decision to suspend filming until temperatures became more manageable.
“Out of an abundance of caution, production of ‘Snowpiercer’ wrapped early yesterday and was suspended for today due to extreme heat on location,” said a spokesperson for Tomorrow Studios, which produces the show. “The health and well-being of show cast and crew remains top priority.”
Many were quick to point out the irony of a show about people affected by extreme climate change being shut down over extreme climate change. “Snowpiercer” takes place in a future Ice Age, and the heavy...

Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 9
From the very opening moments of Snowpiercer, it’s clear that the train that couldn’t slow down is in for some big changes. Ben (Iddo Goldberg) talks about how people build their lives around loved ones, and when those loved ones are lost, we lose part of ourselves and turn inward to examine who we are, if we did enough, and where we belong in this new world without that person in our lives. For Ben, that person has been Melanie (Jennifer Connelly), out in the frozen wilderness and presumed dead until signs of her active presence are uncovered. For Melanie, she’s lost everyone she’s ever known, depending on suspension drugs and stimulants to hope against hope that she’ll live long enough for someone, anyone to notice her presence and keep her from becoming just another frozen corpse among 7 billion or so.

Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 7
The first season of Snowpiercer was at its best when it focused not on the climate dystopia or the science fiction elements, but the detective story. Andre Layton, at least in the first season, is a classic film noir detective. Pulled from the grimy underbelly of the train known as the Tail and thrust into the heights of power to investigate a murder for a powerful, mysterious woman who may or may not be hiding a big secret. Daveed Diggs is a great actor for this sort of setting, and it was strong enough to carry the show through the beginning and into the struggle for power and survival against Wilford’s dictatorship.
Now, Layton is struggling for survival against his own body, and falls into an appropriately film noir situation within his own mind. He wakes up, slowly, and finds himself...

Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 4
In a world where extinction is a cracked window away, it’s only natural that the survivors on Snowpiercer spend a lot of time dealing with ghosts, but rarely is that more explicit than on “Bound by One Track.” Granted, the returning Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) isn’t a literal ghost, she’s just the manifestation of the fears and pains carried around by multiple characters in the episode. She’s far from the only ghost haunting Snowpiercer and Big Alice in the wake of multiple revolutions and several terrible accidents/decisions, but she’s the most prominent ghost for both Wilford (Sean Bean) and Alex (Rowan Blanchard).
It could be worse, she could be one of the three ghosts from A Christmas Carol, or a face-hungry rottweiler like Javi (Roberto Urbina) is dealing with. I’ll take a comforting—or at...

It’s gonna be a hot one on the pirate train when Snowpiercer Season 3 pulls away from the proverbial station this Monday night.
When last we tuned into TNT’s dystopian drama, Andre (played by Daveed Diggs) had orchestrated it so that he and a handful of other friendlies explosively broke away from Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) and Big Alice, in their own 10-car pirate train. Before doing so, Andre made sure to hold onto Miss Audrey (Lena Hall), Wilford’s No. 1 gal, so as to ensure the safety of his baby momma Zarah (Sheila Vand), who was still on Big Alice.

Having isolated a film enthusiast on a North Sea lighthouse island in 2021, this year’s Göteborg Film Festival, Scandinavia’s biggest movie-tv event, looks set to stage another bold metaphor for film consumption, subjecting audiences at three different movie screenings to mass hypnosis.
Dubbed The Hypnotic Cinema, the strand’s titles chosen for the singular experiment are Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s 2021 Cannes Jury Prize winner “Memoria,” starring Tilda Swinton; “Land of Dreams,” from Iran’s Venice Silver Lion winners Shirin Neshat and Shoja Azari (“Women Without Men”) starring Sheila Vand, Matt Dillon and Isabella Rossellini; and Danish director Christian Tafdrup’s “Speak No Evil,” slated to world premiere at this month’s Sundance Festival.
Before each film, a hypnotist will perform a mass hypnosis from the main stage at the Stora Teatern in Göteborg, the festival announced Tuesday. Transforming the audience’s state of mind in accordance with the mood and theme of the film,...

Snowpiercer will hit the tracks again in 2022.
TNT announced Wednesday the third season of the post-apocalyptic drama will launch Monday, January 24, 2022.
News of a premiere date comes months after it was revealed the show would be returning for a fourth season.
While many shows don't know their fate until late in the game, TNT has been vocal about its support of the series by picking it up for very early additional seasons.
“Snowpiercer has been an incredibly successful series for us that continues to capture the imagination of viewers, grow audience and maintain strong ratings,” said Sam Linsky and Adrienne O’Riain, co-heads of scripted original programming for TBS, TNT, and truTV earlier this year when the show was picked up.
“All of our seasons embark on an emotional, unexpected ride, and the well-plotted storylines will continue to evolve and remain relevant to audiences. We’re excited to keep the train running into season four.

The American future presented in Land of Dreams is not, unfortunately, all that far-fetched. In this beguiling political satire, directed by Shirin Neshat and Shoja Azari, computer screens and cellphones are sleek and sexy, xenophobic attitudes persist in the name of a misguided nationalism, and the state still investigates its citizens for vague national security purposes. If it weren’t for the fact that the U.S. Census Bureau collects dreams — yes, dreams — it would be easy to mistake the film’s representation for reality.
