I hadn’t heard of Bounty Killer till a couple of YouTubers (Coolduder, Wetmovie1) mentioned the film in their usual DVD and Blu-ray round-ups. The title alone intrigued me, after all I had enjoyed the previous “bounty hunter” flicks I’d seen: Michael Dudikoff’s Bounty Hunters and Bounty Hunters 2: Hardball and the recent Trish Stratus (WWE Diva) starring Bounty Hunters. So I was bound to enjoy a film that not only featured bounty hunters, but was called Bounty Killer, right?
In a word. Yes! In fact two words: Hell Yes!
Based on a short film of the same name (and also the graphic novel adaptation) by Jason Dodson and Henry Saine, Bounty Killer is set 20 years after corporations took over the world s governments.

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by Arc Entertainment. Director: Henry Saine. Writers: Jason Dodson, Colin Ebeling, and Henry Saine. Cast: Matthew Marsden, Kristanna Loken, Christian Pitre, Barak Hardley, Abraham Benrubi and Gary Busey. This film critic is not a fan of writing negative reviews. However, reviews can sometimes serve as a warning, to steer viewers away from certain material. Henry Saine's (The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu) Bounty Killer is a film that most film fans will want to skip. Based on a 2013 comic book, Bounty Killer offers silly situations in a future post-apocalyptic landscape. The film also offers very little in its characters, while trying to trump up its shortfalls by offering almost every genre in the book. This mishmash of story ideas and weak characters creates for a very uninspiring ninety-two minutes. The story is built on a very weak foundation. The...

I’ll start at the beginning. Jason Dodson, the writer of my new feature “Bounty Killer,” which opened this weekend — and I were sitting in his apartment after a few too many beers – half listening to each other as you do when the brain cells start dying off. He was preaching about the Enron scandal and the dangers of big business while I was looking through a book of vintage sci-fi film posters, where I found an awesome tagline: “In a time unborn-1997!” “We should make a movie about the future. The future of 1997!” “But it’s 2006.” Jason noted. “I know.

Bounty Killer is a new post-apocalyptic movie that was released today on VOD and in select theaters. We caught up with the movie’s director and co-writer, Henry Saine, for our latest Q&A feature. Continue reading to learn about the cartoon and short film that came first, his experience on the set of Bounty Killer, and future plans for his post-apocalyptic world:
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Henry. How long have you had the idea for Bounty Killer? Was this a world you wanted to get into ever since you first caught Mad Max (or another post apocalyptic-movie)?
Henry Saine: I’ve always loved the world that George Miller created in Road Warrior and Mad Max, but also the nuttier movies like Ice Pirates and Roger Corman’s Death Race 2000, so it was always a sand box I wanted to play in. Years ago,...

The genre equivalent of soft-core porn: it doesn’t care how strained and derivative it is as long as it is delivering flying bullets, fast cars, and closeups on women’s sashaying asses. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m a big ol’ science fiction geek
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Deliver me from little boys who think that tossing together some ideas stolen from Mad Max and Firefly, some visual tropes swiped from Tarantino, and some “hilarious” characters who are sexist morons makes for a fun, sexy, badass flick. Oh, are writers Henry Saine, Jason Dodson, and Colin Ebeling (Saine directs) older than 12? Coulda fooled me. Who else would name a whorehouse the “Thirsty Beaver”? *cue adolescent sniggering* In a standard grungy postapocalyptic future — though one in which there’s still gas for muscle cars and delicate white stockings...

Bounty Killer from Arc Entertainment has a fresh movie trailer, poster as well as new images in the gallery for the film which opens in theaters and VOD on September 6th, followed by a DVD release on October 29th, 2013. Matthew Marsden, Christian Pitre, Barak Hardley, Eve, Gary Busey, Beverly D'Angelo and Alexa Vega star in the Henry Saine actioner written by Jason Dodson, Colin Ebeling and Saine. The film is rated R for strong bloody violence, language and some sexuality/nudity. It’s been 20 years since the corporations took over the world’s governments. Their thirst for power and profits led to the corporate wars, a fierce global battle that laid waste to society as we know it. Born from the ash, the Council of Nine rose as a new law and order for this dark age. To avenge the corporations’ reckless destruction, the Council...

Right from the start, you'll likely know whether you want to continue down the hilarious and overly violent schlock that is part of Bounty Killer's charm. We are given a world where bounty killers--bounty hunters with the license to kill off the white-collar criminals in a post-apocalyptic wasteland of the United States--are rock stars and adored. They appear on magazine covers, have groupies, and reap wealthy rewards for dispatching the bad guys that ruined the world's economy and environment. Is it a film that has more relevance today than ever before? Well, maybe it would have been better timed a few years back after the stock market crash, but writers Jason Dodson, Colin Ebeling, and Henry Saine were likely working on the original idea...

Henry Saine is the director behind The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu a film that mixes the humor of such Gen X styled comedies such as Reality Bites, Clueless, Floundering, etc. It then throws in some sci-fi with, of course, some horror. After all, this does have Lovecraft in the title and you couldn't do this type of film without some horror elements. Saine was all to bring a seamless quality to the narrative of the film making it so that the various story tangents flowed with one another, instead of feeling jerky or uneven. In The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu, Jeff an ordinary guy that is stuck at a dead end job with a boring life, but when a strange old man gives him an Ancient relic and tells him that he is the last bloodline of H.P. Lovecraft, He and his friend Charlie embark on an adventure...
