Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone -- the comedy jam masters also known as The Lonely Island -- will soon be dominating TV and online comedy through their Fox development venture "Party Over Here." They announced the first of many projects on the slate today, which will feature such comedic talent as "Community" co-star Danny Pudi, "Chappelle’s Show" vet Neal Brennan and stand-up Andre Hyland. First off, "The Tyler Zone" stars Pudi as a young man who moves to a new town where he witnesses a series of supernatural happenings that may just be his imagination. Music video vet Keith Schofield -- ho's worked with Bastille and Chromeo -- wrote and directed. "Home For the Weekend," hosted by Brennan, is a half-hour mockumentary following celebrities returning to their hometown. Naturally, the first episode features Samberg, Schaffer and Taccone back in their hometown of Berkeley, CA. Finally, "Topics With...

From attention-grabbing promos to thoughtful documentaries, a new crop of directors is creating innovative and daring pictures that are cheap to make, easy to share, and finding an audience as never before. Here, we speak to those responsible for some of the best
Are we in the middle of a short‑film revolution? Not long ago, if you wanted to catch short work by exciting new film-makers, you had to travel to a festival, hunt down a compilation on DVD, catch a charitable showing on TV or, if you were uncommonly lucky, before the main feature at the cinema. The 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival is set to run June 17-27 in a brand new location. Oh, it’s still in L.A, but it’s moving across town, from Westwood — where it’s been held the past few years — all the way over to Downtown.
The main “hub” for the fest will be the new L.A. Live complex, but there will also be screenings at other locations, such as the Downtown Independent and Redcat theaters. The city is really trying to build downtown up into a major arts and culture hub, so the festival moving there fits in with that agenda. Film Independent, the organization that runs Laff, also runs the annual Independent Spirit Awards, an event that also moved downtown — from Santa Monica — this year.
On Bad Lit, I tend to like to put up festival lineups that include days and times of screenings. However, since I...

Beck and Charlotte teamed up for the album Irm earlier this year, and this week the video to their song Heaven Can Wait was posted online. The song we like, but the video (courtesy of Keith Schofield) we love.

The cheeky use of seemingly endless, interactive, and fake credits at the end of this "Let Love Rule" video for the Justice remix of Lenny's Kravitz's song take over once the hero saves the girl, hands her his lucky purple rabbit foot, and wanders off into the city. No, really. That's all there is after he shoots the bad guy in the head; the music plays, the guy wanders around the city, and the credits start rolling. There's Wolfman Rick, a prison guard, dancers, a cab driver, three assistant directors, and even a person to handle the floor special effects. Eventually, our hero realizes that the credits are actually there, and the fun begins.
Director Keith Schofield is definitely a creative, clever dude, as his viral videos, advertisements, and music videos (and many awards and professional kudos) go to show. The Sfw XXX Diesel video is pretty wild -- I...
