- Stephen Tyrone Williams is known for Person of Interest (2011), Tobacco Burn (2014) and Da Sweet Blood of Jesus (2014).
- Graduated from the University of Alabama (in Tuscaloosa, Alabama) with a BA in Theatre and Communication Studies.
- In 2013, Williams made his Broadway debut in the play "Lucky Guy" by Nora Ephron, playing the role of Abner Louima. The director was George C. Wolfe (known for plays and musicals such as Jelly's Last Jam, Angels in America, Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk, and Topdog/Underdog). Among Williams's costars in the play were Tom Hanks, Courtney B. Vance, Maura Tierney, Christopher McDonald, Deirdre Lovejoy, Peter Scolari, and Richard Masur. The play was also the Broadway debut for Tom Hanks and Maura Tierney, and it was the last play written by Nora Ephron before her 2012 death.
- In August 2013, filmmaker Spike Lee announced that Stephen Tyrone Williams had been cast as the male lead in his next (then-untitled) project. Lee said that he first saw Williams in his role in the Broadway play "Lucky Guy" and found his performance "haunting.".
- Was a 2012 finalist for a Clive Barnes Foundation Award for his performance in in Athol Fugard's play "My Children, My Africa." His prize as a finalist was $500. The foundation, named after the late theater critic, supports the work of young theater and dance artists.
- In March 2013, the magazine Time Out New York named Williams one of their "Future Legends of New York Theater". The Time Out writer, David Cote, singled out Williams's performances in the plays "Hallway Trilogy," "Burning," "My Children! My Africa!," and "Lucky Guy".
