Exclusive: Evette Vargas and producing partner Ricardo Reyes on Thursday announced the launch of Indigo Reign Films, a new full-service production company based out of Los Angeles.
Indigo Reign will focus on elevated projects with social impact and multicultural representation, producing stories in the U.S., Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain. The company will be active across film, television, commercials, podcasts, interactive, gaming, and music videos. Vargas and Reyes will serve as co-CEOs, with Emmy-winning cinematographer Jimmy A. Velarde, composer-producer The Angel and line producer Noah A. Waters III also on the team.
“Having met at UCLA grad school, Ricardo and I are thrilled to realize our dream of founding Indigo Reign Films. We’re building a new pipeline to develop, produce, market, and distribute stories – both our own and client projects,” Vargas told Deadline.
Reyes added that what sets the company part is the duo’s process.

Warner Bros. Discovery is shutting down its Television Workshop for up-and-coming writers and directors, as well as its digital shortform programming division, Stage 13, TheWrap has confirmed. The news comes amid further layoffs that are expected to hit the newly merged conglomerate.
Stage 13 was established in 2017, while the writers workshop has been around for four decades, with the 2022-23 season being the last. Both of these ventures are planned to be folded into development and current programming. While neither program was founded with the initiative of specifically supporting talent from underrepresented backgrounds, both eventually became a pipeline through which rising and diverse talent could break into the industry.
As part of the Warner Bros. Television Group and formed under the previous Warner Bros. Digital Networks, Stage 13 was an award-winning studio and production company “dedicated to amplifying intersectional stories and championing creators from underrepresented communities,” according to its site. The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The pledge, while noting that the “responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives,” acknowledges that “America’s storytellers” have the power to “effect change.”
“Cultural attitudes toward smoking, drunk driving, seatbelts and marriage equality have all evolved due in large part to movies’ and TV’s influence. It’s time to take on gun safety,” the Brady pledge states, and goes on to ask writers, directors and producers to, whenever possible, to:

If Elena Gilbert had a Timehop account, she’d find one hell of a notification awaiting her today. Exactly one decade ago (give or take a few time jumps), she encountered a strapping 161-year-old named Stefan Salvatore in the Mystic Falls Cemetery. And the rest is… insanely complicated, to be honest.
She didn’t know this at the time, but Stefan was a vampire. He would also go on to become her lover, her ex, her friend and, ultimately, her dead brother-in-law.

Is The Originals Season 4 going to stop for air?
The Originals Season 4 Episode 5 continued to go for the home run with another hour that was up there as one of the best.
It's crazy how much better a series can be with fewer episodes.
Okay, let's get to the goodies. I'm going to go for the polarizing option and speak about Hayley first. I felt horrible for her. Mary's husband was under the influence of The Hollow and killed her parents.
Like, where the heck did that come from? Throughout Hayley's stint on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, she has been looking for a place to belong.
It's natural for people to want to feel a sense of belonging. She even admitted that growing up in the system was not good for her. She was always confused, wondering what really paved the way for her parents to leave her.

It's been a long ten months, and I'm so glad to say The Originals is finally back.
Did it live up to the tremendous hype?
The Originals Season 4 Episode 1 was, without a doubt the best episode in a few years.
The five-year time jump helped. Returning after all this time off the air made me concerned that it would be difficult to keep track of events, but Michael Narducci elevated the show higher than I thought was possible.
Let's start with Hayley. In short, she was badass. Her sass throughout the hour was on point, and I loved getting to see her continued fight to save the Mikaelsons.
Mary warning her off bringing the Mikaelsons back was warranted. Hayley has had five years of safety, and that's what she needed to find the final werewolf so Freya could make the antidote.
Hopefully, Mary has a bigger role this season. She's...
