- Is a licensed hairstylist and make-up artist, and was a finalist in the 1986 Dallas Hairstyling Competition.
- Has one "fur child" - Gizmo, a chihuahua. His beloved beagle, Shadow, passed away in March 2008 from Transitional Cell Carcinoma (bladder cancer).
- His original screenplay "Absolution" was a Quarter Finalist in the 1996 Lone Star Screenplay Competition.

- Was diagnosed with a spinal cord injury in July 2012, and underwent an Anterior Cervical Fusion. Two discs in his neck were replaced, and a titanium plate placed over the vertebrae.
