Malibu’s reputation as paradise took a beating in 2018. More than 450 homes were destroyed in the city limits during November’s Woolsey Fire, as were 750 or so more residences in the surrounding county. Heaviest hit was the region’s western edge.
“Although the fire has shaken the community, people are reenergized and those who lost homes want to come back home,” says Chris Cortazzo, Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, sales associate, Coldwell Banker Malibu. Cortazzo was able to keep his all his pending escrows after the fire.
“Prices haven’t retreated at all,” he says.
He expects a busy spring and leases continue to command a premium.
It seems the showbiz enclave is retaining its per-square-foot values — always dependent on variables such as architectural style, location and proximity to the beach —despite the devastation. Property Shark recently reported that in 2018, Malibu Colony Road was the No. 1 most expensive neighborhood in L.

Madison Hildebrand is leaving his TV home, Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles. The 37-year-old realtor and founder of The Malibu Life real estate company has announced that he will not return to the Bravo reality show for season 11. "After a decade of adventure and one of the most unique experiences of my life, I have decided not to continue Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles," he said in a statement to the cable network's Daily Dish website on Tuesday. "I am so grateful to have had this opportunity but the time has come for me to re-energize, rejuvenate, and refocus my attention and light onto new endeavors." James Harris is coming for Madison Hildebrand.
The two realtors come face to face on the next episode of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, and Et has your exclusive first look. James seemingly called the meeting to confront Madison about “stealing” a listing they previously worked on together, but eventually lost after they were unable to sell the home. Madison swooped in after the split to get the listing back, just for himself -- and James is convinced he lied to make that happen.
“I just want you to admit, for once, that you might be a pathological liar,” James says. “I just want you to admit it for once, and I’ll have a smile on my face!”
“You lied to get the listing,” he adds after a back and forth over who gets to talk when.
“I did not lie!” Madison counters. “Did you ever talk to [the client] Jerry since the listing expired?”

"Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles" star Madison Hildebrand had an interesting showing at his own house this week ... a guy walking around naked showing his junk, and it was caught on surveillance video. As with all reality shows, the Million Dollar Listing franchise has a lot of moving parts that operate behind the lives of real, live people, and this can make for some interesting chemistry and conflict. The thing that drives the mystique of many of these shows is the fact that the audience is rarely aware of the backdrop stories that drive many of the relationships on the shows. One of the most interesting characters on Million Dollar Listing is Madison Hildebrand. One thing Hildebrand is not, and that is boring. There are quite a few things that the public does

It wasn't that long ago that property values in California were in free fall. But, according to real estate agent Josh Altman of Bravo's reality show "Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles," returning Wednesday, Aug. 7, on Bravo, things are looking up.
"In L.A., we're officially rebounded," he tells Zap2it. "I think everybody learned a lesson. I don't think we're going to see another bubble burst. It's not due to speculation at this point. It's due to low interest rates, lack of inventory and people having their money back."
Altman is one of three agents followed on the show, along with Josh Flagg and Madison Hildebrand. But according to the Massachusetts-born Altman, if clients want someone to knuckle down and get to business, he's the one they call.

Bravo's Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles may have undergone several key changes since its first season in 2006, including cast and location shifts, but one thing has remained consistent: the presence of Madison Hildebrand, the diplomatic, hunky blond agent whose sexual orientation remained something of an enigma for a couple of seasons. Officially he's shifted from "polyamorous" to classic old "gay," and just like his now-out castmate Josh Flagg, he's living a visibly homosexual existence in front of the cameras. And yes, he looks blithe and sandy-haired while doing it.
We caught up with the 31-year-old Bravolebrity to discuss the upcoming season (featuring season four's cocky newcomer Josh Altman), the process of coming out on TV, and what it's like to oil up your body for Bravo's summer advertisments. Bravo, you've come a long way baby. The network celebrated its upfronts presentation to potential advertisers on Wednesday (March 30) in a big way with a bicoastal bash and by announcing it had picked up 11 new series for its 2011-2012 schedule.
At the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, the network hosted an intimate gathering to watch the "Top Chef: All Stars" finale live and proudly paraded its stable of Bravolebrities at the same time.
All smiles (for now) as "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" has officially been renewed for Season 2, it's Kim Richards, Camille Grammer, Kyle Richards, Adrienne Maloof, Taylor Armstrong, and Lisa Vanderpump with mini-bravoleb Giggy.
Blond and buxom as per usual, "The Real Housewives of Orange County's" Peggy Tanous, Vicki Gunvalson, and Tamra Barney.
New Bravo golden boy, Brad Goreski, may have left Rachel Zoe, but he has a new series on Bravo and obviously knows who he should buddy up to.

In "news" that was leaked weeks ago, Los Angeles real estate agent Josh Flagg, one of the stars of Bravo's Million Dollar Listing, officially came out on Tuesday night's episode. While it's always great when anyone comes out, the news that Flagg is gay was greeted mostly with shrugs, probably for a variety of reasons.
For starters, Flagg wasn't exactly in the closet except on Million Dollar Listing. He's been seen around L.A. with boyfriend Colton Thorn a number of times at public events where their attendance as a couple was reported, and he specifically introduced Thorn as his boyfriend during one interview available on YouTube since last year (as opposed to some Hollywood stars living in the glass closet who have never made any public acknowledgment of their same-sex partner and decline to answer the question when asked).
For another thing, gay visibility on television is drastically improved...

For the second time in two seasons, a cast member on Bravo's docudrama Million Dollar Listing is coming out as gay. But while Madison Hildebrand started as quasi-straight and eventually discovered his sexuality in about 90 seconds of thinly developed narrative, Josh Flagg's dating life has never been a part of the show, although his Judaism and other aspects of his personal life have been included. That changes on Tuesday's episode, which, in a remarkable...

After Hollywood realtor Josh Altman replaced Chad Rogers on Bravo's "Million Dollar Listing," we were prepared to hate him. The suits, the celebrity clientele, the fast talk - what's there to like?
Now, we'll be the first to admit we jumped to conclusions. He's not such a bad guy, makes for good TV, and he definitely handles his business.
Altman tells us we're not the only ones who had a change of heart about him. He gets several emails a day expressing the same sentiment.
"I think with any TV show in general when you have someone replacing someone or someone new," Altman tells Zap2it. "There's always going to be people who have preconceived notions of you - like when a new model Ferrari comes out. Nobody likes it at first, but then you get used to it and you think 'wow, this is a lot better.'"

It looks like out director Lee Daniels has picked a new project, the adaptation of Pete Dexter’s The Paperboy. He’s after top line talent, hoping to have Bradley Cooper play Alex Pettyfer’s older brother, and Sofia Vergara as the wife of a death row inmate. It’s set in Florida, so maybe we can hope for minimal wardrobe for the male cast?

The retrial for murder music king and Grammy winner Buju Banton for drug charges has gone to jury deliberations. I can find very little reporting on the trial that isn’t horribly biased, but it doesn’t sound like the government made a very strong case.

Tune in alert for Bravo's Million Dollar Listing "Too Nice for Real Estate?" Do nice guys really finish last? When Madison tries to land a new client, his "nice guy" attitude might get in the way of closing the deal. His potential clients treating him like a five year old also isn't helping the situation. Meanwhile, Josh Flagg can't play the nice guy either when he gets in the middle of an offer battle. Will the agents get their way this week or will the clients end up on top? Find out tonight 2/10 @9/8c on Bravo's Million Dollar Listing * Treated Like a Child: Madison Hildebrand wants to land a new client but is...

I know, I know: this is the guiltiest of all guilty pleasures in some ways. But I do believe that when it comes to television, one shouldn't feel guilty about what one finds enjoyable, as long as you're truthful with yourself about the quality of the thing in question. Which brings us to Bravo's Million Dollar Listing, which returns for its fourth season tonight, amid a cast shakeup that saw the departure of oddball Chad Rogers from the series and the arrival of a new face in Josh Altman. While Chad irritated me to the point of tears at times, I do have to say that I'll miss him because he added such an unpredictable, weird element to the mix. Between the pocket-sized dog, the bizarre chemistry with his girlfriend, and his social awkwardness, Chad added a certain je ne sais quoi to the mix that will be missed, particularly...

Luxury real-estate golden boys Madison Hildebrand and Josh Flagg are back for their fourth go at "Million Dollar Listing," Bravo's look at the cutthroat world of high-end realty, made even moreso thanks to the crash of the real estate market.
Out is bowl-cut Chad Rogers from seasons 1, 2, and 3, and in is Josh Altman, a real estate impresario who you might recognize from his appearance on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" (if you'd ever admit to watching that show), who's celebrity clientele includes Kim, her ex and football pro Reggie Bush, and rapper/actress Eve.
The slumped market and new blood makes the competition even more fierce (who knew open houses could be so tense?). Of course Bravo throws in some real-life drama into the mix, like the new guy moving in on competitor Madison's assistant, and we're sure Madison's oft-talked about "polyamorous" situation is sure to come up as well.

As Zap2it reported earlier this week, high-end realtor and the previous lead castmember of "Million Dollar Listing," Chad Rogers, has decided not to return for Season 4, and Bravo officially announced his replacement for the new season today (Dec. 16).
Rogers' spot goes to real estate agent Josh Altman, who we hope is as eccentric and funny as the show's other Josh - Josh Flagg! Malibu realtor Madison Hildebrand, who was struggling with his sexuality last season, is also returning for Season 4.
Here's the official bio on Altman, which accompanied Bravo's announcement:
Josh Altman is one of the most successful real estate agents in the Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hills luxury housing market. Josh's clientele consists mostly of entertainers, athletes and high net worth individuals from all over the world. Josh consistently offers his clients the white glove/VIP service. Over the past year, Josh has sold over $38,000,000 and has another $50,000,000 in current listings. His latest sale...

EW has learned that agent Chad Rogers, 33, has left Bravo’s real estate-focused reality series Million Dollar Listing. His replacement for the show’s fourth season: agent Josh Altman, a big player in the L.A. real estate game who sold $38 million in property in the past year and currently holds an inventory of $50 million in listings. One of Altman’s recent sales in L.A.’s Beverly Park neighborhood went for a hefty $16.5 million, and was the sixth-largest sale in Los Angeles county in 2010.

One of the three stars of Bravo's Million Dollar Listing is leaving the series, and producers are now casting for New York City real estate agents, perhaps for a spin-off of the L.A.-set series. Chad Rogers, whose attempts to cause drama couldn't overcome his awkward acting and stilted delivery last season, is leaving, according to Madison Hildebrand, one of the other two cast members, who also confirmed the show is returning for a fourth season.

Every week we pick the gays who we think have made the biggest splash in television (or pop culture in general) and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner on Friday, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following week to try to steal his title.
Last week everyone was off for the Thanksgiving weekend, so no one was crowned. We're back with a vengeance this week with four fine contenders courtesy of a jealous cop, an album drop, a change in Facebook relationship status, and a gay son's hockey-infused coming out story.
Check them out after the break, and vote for your favorite!

Bravo's Million Dollar Listing falls somewhere between the network's best shows — Top Chef, the old Project Runway — and their worst — NYC Prep, Miami Social — but in last night's episode, Madison Hildebrand, the show's most appealing character, decided to come out. Again. Sort of.
When we interviewed Madison back in 2008, he defined his sexuality as being polyamorous, saying he was interested in both men and women:
...the word I have chosen to use as far as sexuality goes is polyamorous, and I am really trying to stay away from being in one particular category one way or the other. I’m very open. I’m open-minded. I really connect to energies. I still have encounters with women and I’m interested in dating men and/or a woman. It doesn’t really matter to me. If the energy feels right and it’s safe and it’s comfortable, I’m open to that.

Generally speaking, there's little on Million Dollar Listing that strikes me as edifying or illuminating television. Mostly, I've watched this Bravo reality/unscripted show about three Los Angeles real estate brokers - Josh Flagg, Chad Rogers and Madison Hildebrand -- who are young, ambitious and seemingly very spoiled, with a weird fascination.
Would Chad's hair stylist convince him to try a buzz cut? No. Could Madison succumb to the come-on of a sexy female client? No. Was Josh seriously concerned about his health? Yes.
However, I caught up with the show this week and saw a sequence that got to me on a very emotional level. Josh Flagg, in an effort to learn more about his grandmother Edith's life -- in particular, how she survived the Holocaust -- went to Amsterdam with her to visit the places she remembers.

Sometimes I like to indulge in my guilty pleasure of watching several hours of the Bravo channel all at once. I can't say I'm hooked on the network -- it's mostly reality shows -- but sometimes it's fun to just watch something totally mindless. In Bravo's case, I usually end up feeling much better about my own life.
This afternoon, I watched a few episodes of Million Dollar Listing, the show about three real estate agents in Los Angeles. Season three premiered last Monday, and I feel for these guys -- Josh Flagg, Madison Hildebrand and Chad Rogers -- because it can't be easy trying to sell homes in this market. It seems like a tough business to be in anyway, and they have to deal with bleached blonde Hollywood types, many of whom think they have all the answers.

Last weekend's Equality March in Washington D.C. got me to thinking about how far we have — and haven't — come in the fight for gay equality. But since AfterElton.com focuses on pop culture, I'm going to look at things through that lens and leave the political analysis for Pam's House Blend, Americablog, Bilerico and the other assorted gay political websites that cover the topic.
One of the very first times American television addressed the subject of gay men (bisexuality was almost never addressed) was way back in 1954 when the L.A. based tabloid talk show Confidential File presented "Homosexuals and the Problems They Present." Hmm, I'm guessing it wasn't terribly flattering unless it was about how boring straight people looked in comparison to us 'mos.
San Francisco's public TV station did the first ever documentary, The Rejected in 1961 and it wasn't until 1967 that a television show first featured a gay storyline.
