Madonna fans are defending the singer from “nasty” reactions to “close-ups” of her face at the Grammys.
The “Papa Don’t Preach” singer was invited to the ceremony on Sunday (5 February) to introduce a performance by Sam Smith and Kim Petras.
Following her appearance, many on social media commented on her look, saying the singer’s face was “covered in plastic surgery”.
The vitriol against her was so strong that Madonna herself responded in a post, stating: “Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech, which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim, many people chose to only talk about close-up photos of me taken with a long lens camera by a press photographer that would distort anyone’s face.”
During the ceremony, German pop singer Petras became the first transgender woman to win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The Apprentice is returning to the BBC after a year off the air – but it will mostly be without Claude Littner.
Littner made a grand return after taking a year off in 2022 when he almost lost his leg following a horrific injury.
However, Lord Alan Sugar was forced to drop his aide once again just one episode into the latest run.
Speaking at a press launch for the series, multiple outlets reported Sugar as saying: “Unfortunately, Claude suffered some medical issues and so I was asked to think of someone else.”
He opted for series one winner Tim Capmbell, who stepped into Littner’s shoes for the previous outing, which aired in 2022.
“Who better than somebody who’s actually been through the process?” Sugar said of his decision.
“It was a bit of a no-brainer really because when it comes to making the excuses that these candidates do, you’ve got Tim there,...

“Downton Abbey” actress Joanne Froggatt plays a woman caught up in a twisted psychological web in her new Spectrum Original series “Angela Black,” debuting Monday.
The six-part series, written and produced by Harry and Jack Williams, begins as the story of an abused woman as she starts to find the strength to plot an escape from her husband, Olivier (“Game of Thrones” alum Michiel Huisman). It is also, though, a psychological thriller that involves surprising twists and turns that begin when Angela meets Ed (Samuel Adewunmi), a private investigator who shows up at her door after a brief meeting at a pub, to tell Angela her husband isn’t who she thinks he is. And things only get more complicated from there.

Katie Piper's Bodyshockers will return for a new series in January.
The series launched earlier this year, following Piper as she met people who regret their body modifications.
She will also stage interventions between people who are on the verge of making permanent alterations to their bodies and those that regret their earlier decisions.
The new run of episodes will also see the 31-year-old as she explores a variety of bizarre beauty procedures that are available in Britain.
On the show's return, Piper said: "I'm so excited to be presenting the second series of Bodyshockers. With a multitude of shocking reveals and amazing reversals, the new series promises to be even more fascinating than the last!"
The new six-part series was commissioned by Channel 4 in August, following the popularity of the initial episodes.

Channel 4's Hotel Gb will reportedly not return for another series.
The reality show, which boasted an array of stars for its first run, is said to have been axed due to poor ratings.
Gordon Ramsay, Mary Portas, Gok Wan and Katie Piper all took part in last year's programme, where two celebrity teams staffed a hotel with unemployed trainees and battled it out to raise the most money for charity.
An insider told The Sun: "It was a good idea and bosses are glad they gave it a go.
"But it just didn't pull in enough viewers at the end of the day and it won't be coming back."
At the end of the show - which also starred Phil Spencer, Kim Woodburn and Kirstie Allsop - the 14 trainees who took part were all offered jobs by UK firms who visited the hotel undercover to seek out potential employees.

Having watched the powerful premiere of Katie: My Beautiful Friends on Channel 4 last night – once I’d dried my eyes – I sat down to compose this review.
And what I wanted more than anything was to avoid using clichés that might detract from the true value of this film.
I’d hoped I wouldn’t write hackneyed phrases such as ‘triumph over adversity’ and employ overused adjectives that could potentially imply condescension, such as, inspirational, courageous, touching, heartbreaking…
But the fact is, those words are itching to spill forth from my virtual pen, and won’t be denied because Katie and her Beautiful Friends are all these things.
Similarly, I baulked at using that old chestnut about beauty being only skin deep, but as Katie has demonstrated, with a tenacity and elegance that one can only be in awe of, beauty can, and has, transcended the depleted depth of her terribly damaged skin.
