Jerry Bruckheimer has teased a "terrific" follow-up to 'Top Gun: Maverick'.The 80-year-old producer has revealed that a story has been written for the third movie in the beloved action franchise and says it is now a case of getting Tom Cruise and the other cast members back for the picture.Jerry told The Hollywood Reporter: "I think we have a terrific story. It's just (a question of) how do we get everybody together and how do we get it done."Tom's very busy. He's got a lot of movies lined up, and he's a very in-demand actor. So we'll have to get a good screenplay, and hopefully, he'll like it as much as we will."Reports about 'Top Gun 3' being in the works emerged earlier this year and star Glen Powell – who played Jake 'Hangman' Seresin in 'Top Gun: Maverick' – seemingly confirmed the...

Michelle Yeoh has had a few hits and misses on the red carpet throughout her career. But most of the time, she makes incredible clothing selections that are often sophisticated, timeless, and have sleek silhouettes.
Her most recent appearance at the 2024 Gold Gala did not disappoint; she looked elegant in a cream Schiaparelli tweed skirt suit with some quirky accessories that, I think, balanced out the ensemble’s more traditional silhouette. She did, however, appear uncomfortable in her Sergio Rossi pumps.

The US women’s water polo team has found an unlikely supporter and hype man in Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav.
Earlier this month, the team’s captain, Maggie Steffens, shared an Instagram post revealing they could still use financial support for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris. In response, Flavor Flav pledged to “sponsor/support” Steffens and the rest of the team, who are vying for their fourth consecutive gold medal.
“[I heard that] the water polo team needed some type of sponsorship, you know what I’m saying?” Flavor Flav told People magazine. “And Maggie, I heard about a lot of your accomplishments and I applaud you. Gold Gala is the type of weekend where you can share an intimate booth at L.A. culinary hotspot Yangban with a Pulitzer winner (journalist Jose Antonio Vargas) and a top festival exec (TIFF chief programming officer Anita Lee) on Friday night and then mimosas and a sound bath at the Four Seasons the next morning with an Olympic figure skater and a former Miss Universe (Madison Chock and R’Bonney Gabriel, respectively) – all as part of mere pre-gaming to the titular main event, which took place at the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night.

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games are shaping up to be a blockbuster for NBCUniversal.
According to Dan Lovinger, president, Olympic and Paralympic Sales, the company has already booked $1.2 billion in ad revenue for the games, which are still months away, and expects to surpass the advertising record for any Olympics (the 2020 Tokyo games nabbed just over $1.2 billion) in the coming weeks.
NBC is “on track to generate the most advertising revenue in Olympic history,” Lovinger said during a conference call with reporters Tuesday, adding that some $350 million of the $1.2 billion committed so far is from new sponsors.
Lovinger said the non-alcoholic beverage category, the Cpg category, financial services, retail and entertainment are the advertising categories seeing the biggest increases.
And Lovinger said the Olympics are in a prime position to capitalize on the women’s sports boom driven by the recent record-breaking NCAA women’s tournament, noting that “we’ve seen...

FX’s Shōgun came out of the gate strong with its streaming debut.
According to Disney, the premiere episode of the limited series amassed 9M views globally across Hulu, Disney+ and Star+ in its first six days on these services. Internationally, this makes Shōgun the No. 1 general entertainment series for the company, surpassing The Kardashians Season 1.
Domestically, Disney says that Shōgun inched ahead of The Bear Season 2 to become the No. 1 FX premiere on its streaming platforms, certainly aided by the fact that FX releases are now also available on Disney+ for Bundle subscribers. The Bear Season 2 didn’t have that luxury.
Disney defines “views” as total stream time divided by runtime, similar to Netflix. The company rarely releases definitive streaming data, which makes Shōgun‘s performance difficult to compare to anything else.

Deb Bilodeau might have won Group 2 of Jeopardy!‘s Champions Wildcard, cementing a spot in the 2024 Tournament of Champions, but it came with a couple of hiccups along the way. And she made a huge gaffe that might just be the most embarrassing in the show’s 40-season history. A lot of Jeopardy! viewers certainly seem to think so after she mistakenly mistook famed male and female US Olympians. The restaurant server from San Francisco, California, went up against podcast host Mira Hayward and customer success specialist Jesse Matheny on Thursday’s (February 22) final, where the three contestants were vying for the $100,000 prize and a spot in the Toc. Early in the episode, the three players were faced with a category titled “40 Years Ago 1984,” which included a question about legendary US male figure skater Scott Hamilton. Under the $800 tile, the contestants were asked which American at the Winter Olympics won...

Disney+ isn’t wasting any time getting Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 underway.
While the renewal announcement came just a few days ago, executive producer Jon Steinberg says “there’s a couple of scripts” already in the works.
“They’re in really good shape. I think starting to boot up this machine again is an undertaking. There’s a lot of trains leaving the station all at the same time. But I think we’re feeling really good about creative and about how to plan for how to tell the stories,” he added during the Disney+ series’ panel at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
As with Season 1, Steinberg and executive producer Dan Shotz assured that they are leaning heavily on the book to tell the story. They will also rely on author Rick Riordan and his wife, executive producer Becky Riordan, to adapt Sea of Monsters.

Audiences did a lot of streaming in the first week of January.
According to Nielsen, there were six titles with more than 1B minutes viewed from January 1 to January 7, with the series in first place topping 3B.
Before diving into that, the company issued a correction on the last two weeks of December, which were inaccurately reported due to a glitch with Prime Video‘s audio asset capture meant that reporting for any title added to the service between December 20 and January 16 is delayed.
That means that Reacher was actually No. 1 for the weeks of December 18 and December 25 with about 1.4B viewing minutes each week.
When Nielsen previously reported the numbers for these weeks, viewing for Episodes 4 and 5 of Reacher Season 2 were not counted. Still, the series managed to stay afloat on the charts despite not getting a boost from the new episodes. Reacher has been battling it out with...

Turns out, it was Luke all along. The son of Hermes has been in cahoots with Kronos to possibly destroy Mount Olympus and overthrow the gods. All is revealed when Percy and the team return to Camp Half-Blood, where they expect to find an ally in Luke, still thinking Clarisse stole the bolt. Disney+’s recent show, which adapts the fan-favorite Rick Riordan book series, has been, for the most part, hitting all the right notes for its fans.
It probably helps that the series has been very faithful to the original books—much more than the first two movies starring Logan Lerman were. But that does not mean there have not been changes.

Things are getting tense for our young trio of heroes in Percy Jackson and the Olympians as they continue to make their way across the U.S. Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) have narrowly escaped death not once, not twice, but three times in the short time since they left Camp Half-Blood to find Zeus’ missing master bolt. Time is running out, and the trio still hasn’t figured out who took Zeus’ powerful weapon, or why it was stolen in the first place.
With somewhat safe transportation to the west coast secured, and the promise of help from his father once they get to California, Percy and his friends push forward on their quest, despite the dangers that likely await them in the Underworld.
Here’s what you need to know before diving into episode 6 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

We’re halfway through season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the young trio continues to push forward on their quest. Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) have been tasked with finding Zeus’ missing master bolt and returning it to Mt. Olympus before the Summer Solstice. If they don’t, Zeus has threatened to unleash the full extent of his wrath and plunge the gods into a war. No pressure or anything.
As if traveling across the United States alone as a group of tweens wasn’t challenging enough, the trio must fight several monsters, and their godly parents’ fragile egos, along the way to Los Angeles and the Underworld – their final destination.
As we wait to see what’s next for Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, here’s what you need to know before diving into episode 5 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

One of the producers of Percy Jackson and the Olympians commented on why they made “a million changes” from the original books.
So far, fans seem to like the latest adaptation of the fan-favorite books. The Disney+ series has gone to great lengths to remain accurate to its source material—something the original movies failed to do.
It’s not perfectly one-to-one, however. For example, an entire scene from Episode 2 featuring Grover and the Council of Cloven Elders is present that never happens in the books.

In the world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, prophecies are a big deal. The oracle who resides at Camp Half-Blood doesn’t just give them out willy nilly, they are given to those that fate has deemed worthy. For the demigods of Camp Half-Blood, a prophecy typically signals the beginning of a quest, and the chance to prove oneself in the eyes of their deified parent.
Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) receives his first prophecy not long after he first arrives at Camp Half-Blood. He, Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) are tasked with retrieving Zeus’ missing lightning bolt before the Summer Solstice and stopping an impending war between the gods. Before they set off, Percy receives valuable insight from the Oracle, though it’s not clear what parts of the prophecy mean.

Some eagle-eyed fans found hints that the show would be arriving early on Dec. 19 instead of Dec. 20, but there was no formal confirmation that this would be the release schedule until episodes 1 and 2 appeared on Disney+.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” utilizes an interesting mix of ancient and modern for its story of demigods in the contemporary world trying to undo the petty grudges and unintended consequences of the Greek Gods’ wrath (as they always are). Production designer Dan Hennah and costume designer Tish Monaghan blend archetypical hoplite gear with goofy orange camp T-shirts; the show gives the mythological entities that Percy (Walter Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) encounter free reign to assert their personalities through clothing, style, and, in the case of Mr. D (Jason Mantzoukas), a mild addiction to Diet Coke.

This article contains spoilers for episodes 1 & 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Sally Jackson has always been an important character in the Percy Jackson books. As the mother of a demigod, she’s had to give up a lot in order to keep Percy safe. And yet it’s very clear that she wouldn’t have it any other way. She loves Percy with her whole heart, and has raised him to be compassionate, caring, and brave.
But while the books do a great job of showing us just how important Sally is to Percy’s journey, the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians takes their bond as mother and son even further. Even though Percy may get some cool powers and divine connections from his dad Poseidon (played by Toby Stephens in the series), the show makes it abundantly clear that Percy is who he is because of Sally.

Like Showtime’s recent Dexter: New Blood or USC football’s freshly hired new defensive coordinator, Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians comes with a deceptively simple mandate: Just be better than the thing that came immediately before.
Christopher Columbus’ 2010 feature Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was so bad — and, more specifically, the film was such a misconceived adaptation of Rick Riordan’s Greek mythology-fueled novel series — that Disney+’s series need only “come closer” in order to succeed.
And it does!
With Riordan co-creating along with Jonathan E. Steinberg, Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a generally faithful approach to the books. It carefully targets a younger demographic, honoring what’s likably relatable in the source material and delivering a dose of fantastical whimsy, all while making very few outrage-worthy changes.
Is that the same, mind you, as being a good show? Only occasionally.

Following the less-than-stellar films from the 2010s, Rick Riordon’s beloved Percy Jackson book franchise will see new life on Disney+. The live-action Percy Jackson and the Olympians series will debut the first two of its eight-episode freshman season this Wednesday, Dec. 20.
The forthcoming installment, which follows the events of The Lightning Thief — the first book of the series — will feature several key changes, including the handling of the titular hero’s wretched stepfather Gabe, played in 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Joe Pantoliano. The Might Ducks: Game Changers alum Timm Sharp will portray him in the Disney+ series.

The scrappy ragtag team, the gruff but kind coach, the against-the-odds triumph — sports dramas rarely veer far from a basic template. It’s no surprise when the story’s athletes accomplish their unlikely goal; it’s how the director leads us there that matters. In the case of The Boys in the Boat, a telling of true events that can feel overly cautious in its admiring distance, the surprises lie in small moments and grace notes.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Jason Mantsoukas, Glynn Turman, Dior Goodjohn and more of the show’s stars hit the blue carpet to celebrate the series and discussed working with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has a recurring role as Hermes in the series, and the late Lance Reddick, who plays Zeus.
“Lin is exactly how you’d expect Lin-Manuel Miranda to be,” Scobell, who plays Percy Jackson in the series, told The Hollywood Reporter. “He’ll randomly just break into song in between takes. It’s hilarious.”
Simhadri, who portrays Grover, shared that working with Miranda was “crazy.” “Getting to work with one of the greatest minds of our generation [on Broadway] and out, I mean, how do you not freak out in that kind of situation?...

NBCUniversal is envisioning a day when the Paralympics, the international multisport event for athletes with disabilities, achieve a level of prestige, recognizability and enthusiastic fandom on par with the Olympic Games that inspired them.
In preparations for next year’s Olympics telecasts, the media conglomerate on Nov. 16 revealed its high-tech content creation operations across a two-soundstage hub on the Universal Studios lot. The elaborate production infrastructure features a multitude of dynamic video and photographic platforms to showcase not only the elite United States athletes of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris across the company’s numerous platforms, but also to celebrate their Paralympian counterparts, who’ll compete in the City of Light just a few weeks later.

Throughout the Percy Jackson and the Olympians panel and interviews at New York Comic Con last month, creatives from the show confirmed several book scenes, moments, and elements fans can expect to see in the series when it arrives on Disney+ in December.
Many of these confirmed scenes are likely expected by fans, given the explicit devotion to book accuracy the show has promised, and Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan's heavy involvement, particularly in the writing process.
But, after two movies that deviated heavily from the source material, the more jaded Percy Jackson fans will likely be relieved that so many of the book elements — from major extended sequences to small one-off details — will actually be present in the Disney+ show.

Disney+ producer Becky Riordan explained the decision to hold back and censor some of the scary scenes for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.
Along with the Greek-inspired Olympic gods taking the spotlight in Percy Jackson, the series is also confirmed to bring the book's realm of monsters to life, including the minotaur, Cerberus, Medusa, and more.
Speaking at New York Comic-Con 2023, VFX supervisor Jeff White shared that there are "checks and balances" involved with making these monsters, wanting the visuals on screen "to be, like, scary, but not run out of the room, scary for kids."

It’s no secret that Rick Riordan, who wrote the Percy Jackson book series and executive-produces the upcoming Disney+ live-action series, took major issue with the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and its sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
In his notes to movie producers in 2009, he called the Lightning Thief script “terrible” as a whole and maligned the age-inappropriate swearing as a “lazy attempt to make the script seem hip to teens.” Responding to a fan in 2020 who said he hated the films more than they did, Riordan shared that it was “my life’s...

In 2010, 20th Century Fox brought to life the first film in the Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief starring Logan Lerman. Fox would bring over the director of the early Harry Potter films, Chris Columbus, to helm the start of this new franchise. The Lightning Thief would go on to become a hit as it grossed $226.4 million worldwide with a production budget of $95 million. The sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, also became a modest hit and a third film, The Titan’s Curse, was set to be the next installment, but it never manifested.

New Delhi, June 1 (Ians) After the manner in which the protesting wrestlers were treated by Delhi Police personnel last Sunday, sources close to them said that they all are “mentally shattered” now.
“Nobody is saying anything. They are all mentally shattered… Some of them are also down with fever. How can the government be so egoistic and treat athletes like this? No one from the government came to meet them.

Why didn’t any minister, especially women, speak to them despite the wrestlers writing a letter to them? Why such an indifferent attitude? Can’t our Prime Minister speak to these athletes? A few years back, Cannes was rocked by “flat-gate” — the uproar over the requirement that all women wear heels at Palais premieres.
