Young Adult Fiction is all the rage in cinema right now. True, "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" have made their final bows, but in their place has come a maelstrom of successors, including "The Hunger Games," "Warm Bodies," "Beautiful Creatures," "The Host," and the upcoming big-screen adaptations of "Divergent" and "The Mortal Instruments."
Most of these stories are seen through the eyes of a young heroine, and with all of these yarns sharing similar elements of romance, fantasy and conspiracy, keeping track of all the distinctive details of each leading lady and their respective heroine's journeys can be a daunting task indeed. In the interest of simplicity and at-a-glance organization, NextMovie's own Nick DeSantis (artwork) and Amanda Bell (stats) have conjured this handy chart to help in keeping all the ladies in line — literally.

Edward vs. Jacob may be one of the great battles of our time, but what happens when you throw Charlie Swan into the mix?
Welcome to our "Twilight" guys edition of Eff, Marry, Kill.
This game goes exactly how you think it does. We want you to determine which actor — Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner or Billy Burke — you'd like to spend the rest of your days with, whose days you'd like to end for good and which one you'd enjoy (or suffer through, as the case may be) spending one single night with.
Because such decisions are so difficult, we've asked a few of our buds to weigh in. Hit the poll below and hear thoughts from our experts underneath. And don't forget to give us your thoughts in the comments!

Halloweenis just around the bend, and we have a sneaking suspicion that some of you tributes may want to take your costume fare to District 12 (or the Capitol — we don't judge) this year.
So to lend a helpful hand, we put together this handy Halloween how-to guide for dressing up like the central characters in "The Hunger Games."
Katniss Everdeen
Katniss has a few signature looks, but the two most approachable do-it-yourself costume choices are her arena garb and her plainclothes from the Seam.
First thing's first. To become arena-style Katniss, you'll need her long brunette side braid. If you've already got lengthy brown tresses, step one is done (if not, you may want to look into wigging). To give home-styling her elaborate plait a go, here's a great video tutorial with some directions on how to achieve the exact design.
Luckily enough, Katniss' fight-wear is pretty simple. To frame the look,...

"The Hunger Games" star Elizabeth Banks has a very Effie Trinket-esque — only, add a sense of humor — role in the upcoming sing-off flick "Pitch Perfect." For the "Clueless" meets "Glee" meets "Bring It On" movie, Banks serves as a producer and an actress, which means fans will get to see her work her magic with hilarious one-liners starting this Friday.
When it comes to these types of zany roles, Banks is on point at every turn, so, to celebrate her latest we decided to hash out some of her quirkiest, most Effie-like portrayals to-date.

In the raunchy 2008 comedy "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," Banks portrayed one half of a down-and-out-besties-since-high-school duo who come up with the bright idea to make porn to pay the rent after being dissed at their 10-year reunion. Opposite Seth Rogen, Banks' character dishes quick...

The fact that the cast of "The Hunger Games" has on-screen talent is a no-brainer. Just look at their Oscar cred!
That bunch knows how to sizzle before the camera. But did you know Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen) can also air-puppetteer her own face? Or that Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) can make an insane cricket chirping noise on cue? Or that Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne) can perform magic tricks for a crowd?
Just watch this throwback interview with Yahoo! UK.
The vid got us thinking about what other talents the "Hunger Games" gang have up their sleeves, so we did a little digging and found out that some members of the cast have a knack for sports, music, fine cuisine and more.
Jennifer Lawrence
She might've made her big splash in Hollywood by portraying a sober down-but-not-out Appalachian in "Winter's Bone," but Jennifer Lawrence is known to be quite the free-flowing chatterbox.

During production for "The Hunger Games" in North Carolina, we tributes got to watch from afar as certain portions of filming were spotted by photographers — like Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) traipsing around the Shelby set of the reaping scene and Capitol extras wandering around outside in costume — and it totally amped up our anticipation level for the movie.
Now movie two of the franchise, "Catching Fire", is set to begin filming very shortly, with some of the cast migrating one-by-one down south and potential signs of pre-production already spotted outside of the Georgia Dome. As with the first film, the story includes a lot of outdoor scenes, and, at this point, the world is watching and waiting for this project to come into view, so we predict we'll get to see a little filming action underway for this installment too.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock a la Peeta Mellark in the arena for the past few weeks, you probably already know that "The Hunger Games" on DVD is finally dropping this weekend (Aug. 18, to be precise). Needless to say, tributes the world over are now furiously counting down the remaining hours — as Wiress from "Catching Fire" would say, "tick tock, tick tock" — until the games can begin at home.
If you're like us, you'll be hitting the nearest midnight release party (which can be found with this handy dandy locator) and clapping like a Capitol kid just raring to see the show as you grip the plastic-sheathed cover of your very own copy. While there won't be any deleted scenes on the DVD, there will be some new behind-the-scenes goodies and commentary to enjoy within. Lately there've been a ton of tasty news bites coming out of the world of "The Hunger Games." From "Catching Fire" pre-production to the cast scooping up some surfboards and "Mockingjay" being split into two, there's a lot to chew on here. So, grab a fork and get ready to eat it all up!
Ready to Catch Fire?
Production on "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is nigh! Rumor has it, Atlanta's gonna be one of the filming hotspots this go-round, with shooting tentatively scheduled for Sept. 10, and word is, the filmmakers are also scouting out spots in Hawaii for the big arena sequences.
But enough about that. What's really been exciting is that casting news has been whizzing around as quickly as one of Katniss' arrows. This week, Lionsgate confirmed Jena Malone has been plucked for the sassy tribute role of Johanna Mason.

There may only be a few things officially lined up for "The Hunger Games" at this year's Comic-Con event (we can probably — hopefully! — count on a proper "Catching Fire" cast and filmmaker panel next summer), but there's still some real potential for the annual shindig-o-geekery to make us feel like we're living right there in Victor's Village.
Dig into our menu of tasty dishes we hope to see served up in San Diego this week!
New Details, Please
Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen) — whose character will return for the sequels — will join her "Hunger Games" co-stars Alexander Ludwig (Cato), Amandla Stenberg (Rue), Jack Quaid (Marvel), Isabelle Fuhrman (Clove) and Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) for a special Lionsgate booth signing on Saturday, July 14.
With "Catching Fire" filming expected to begin next month, we're hoping Shields will shell out some need-to-knows about what's to come — like whether a Finnick Odair has been chosen...

Tragedy in the Twi-hard world today. Just as Kate Spencer and I are getting all worked up about which San Diego Comic-Con panels we’re going to attend this week and how we’ll manage to meet all our favorite vampires and zombies, we heard the horrible news of a 53-year-old fan known as Gisela G., who died this morning. She had been camping out for the Breaking Dawn – Part 2 panel, which takes place on Thursday afternoon, and after leaving her spot was crossing the street to get back in line when she was struck by a car. According to the San Diego Union-Times, she was in a crosswalk on Harbor St. but crossing against the light when she was hit at 9:20 a.m. Pt. She reportedly tried to avoid the oncoming Subaru but tripped into it.

"The Hunger Games" gang will be back in action this fall, when production on the first sequel "Catching Fire" — now formally titled "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" — will finally begin (eep!).
So what've they got going on this summer until then? Here's the scoop on how Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and the rest of "The Hunger Games" cast are spending their summer.
Jennifer Lawrence
Lawrence is a hard-working gal, and this summer is no exception. She's looking down the barrel of not one but two major upcoming studio productions. So, this summer she's been spotted working out like crazy, meeting up with "Catching Fire" director Francis Lawrence for a pow-wow about the project and otherwise readying herself to reprise Katniss for movie two and return as Mystique for the sequel to "X-Men: First Class."
That said, J.Law's been slipping in some fun time here and there as well.

You've already browsed our wish list for "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire", and now that things are really starting to heat up in the casting arena, we've got a few ideas as to who should play who to throw into the mix as well!
There are a ton of new tributes who come into the picture with the second story, but these six must be cast right on the mark.
Check out our picks for each of them, vote in our polls, and hit us up in the comments and let us know what you think. Did we hit the mark, or do you picture someone totally different?
Finnick Odair
Last week, three actors were said to be top contenders for the biggest new role, Finnick Odair. Entertainment Weekly reported that Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, and Armie Hammer were the three actors being targeted for the gig, but that report was later refuted.

"The Hunger Games" received a very healthy portion of MTV Movie Awards nominations this year, and chances are the gang will walk away with a few much-deserved golden popcorn statues from the show.
The only question is: In which arenas will the tributes prevail?
This week in District 14, we're breaking down each of the nine nominations "The Hunger Games" received and making our predictions as to whether and why they'll become victors.
Movie of the Year
"The Hunger Games" is something of a freshman franchise at the moment, and it's sharing this major category with a hip senior classman ("Harry Potter") and a very popular junior ("Breaking Dawn - Part 1"). Even putting aside the massively successful "The Help" and "Bridesmaids" which are also nominated, the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" fanbases will be tough to beat, especially since many "Hunger Games" fans stem from one or both of those fan groups...

"The Hunger Games" movie has done more than just give us the braided badass Katniss Everdeen on-screen: it's also served up a useful "How To" guide for future book-to-film adaptations on a Panem-sized platter.
We've come up with 12 basic lessons to be drawn from "The Hunger Games" by anyone looking to create the next book-based blockbuster, and following these closely might just mean the difference between hitting the mark dead center and, well, being laughed at after a shoot and a miss.
Lesson #1 - Go For a Property With Real Movie Potential
Just because a book is popular doesn't always mean it's movie material. "The Hunger Games" boasted a plethora of desirable traits for a good movie — action, romance, suspense, drama, twists, turns, you name it — and that came through on-screen. If the book's not edge-of-your-seat or otherwise all-consuming, a movie based upon it will probably fall flat.
Lesson #2 - Involve the Author,...

Forget being "First in Flight." What's really apt to pump in some North Carolina tourism this summer is "The Hunger Games."
The full movie was shot across the state last year, tapping several different towns to accommodate the vastly ranging set looks and, as a result, the state's already prepared for an influx of tributes from across the globe. In fact, they've got a handy four-day itinerary all lined up to take the heat off making arrangements.
For those really looking to replicate the "Hunger Games" experience in North Carolina, though, there is a lot of nitty-gritty info out there as to which scenes were shot where and favorite hang-outs for the cast. So, to help guide you on your pilgrimage to the area, we gathered up all the intel on the pertinent locales.

We admit, Francis Lawrence's name didn’t immediately spring to mind when we were mulling over which director(s) should take over "Catching Fire" once "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross bowed out.
Now that he's the chosen one and has been offered the gig by Lionsgate, though, we think the selection makes a whole lotta sense. Hear us out.
First of all, there are some serious time constraints to be considered with "Catching Fire." The very reason Gary Ross declined the job of helming the film, he said, was that he wouldn't have enough time to properly prepare the movie to his liking.
"Catching Fire" has to begin production this August to accommodate potential actor scheduling conflicts and to meet the Nov. 22, 2013 release date scheduled by Lionsgate.
For Gary Ross, the idea of readying the film for production would likely include a heavy re-drafting process on the script...

Kristen Stewart as the vampire Bella Swan, Breaking Dawn Part 2 The previously announced The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 "reshoots" should actually be called "additional photography" or "pickup shots," according to Jack Morrissey, director Bill Condon's companion. (One site explains: "Condon is openly guy [sic].") In the Twilight Examiner, Amanda Bell has transcribed much of a Morrissey podcast on the upcoming Breaking Dawn 2 shoot. Among the key points discussed by Morrissey is that filming — involving Condon, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Michael Sheen (who plays one of the Volturi vampires) — should take place in Vancouver within the next two weeks and that this additional work should last about four days. Morrissey adds that the issue wasn't anything done — or not done — by Condon ("Nothing that he directed has been reshot or will be reshot…"), placing the blame squarely on the second unit crew. "The coming additional photography is stuff that was conceived,...

If you're like us, "The Hunger Games" has left you with a major hankering for seconds … Actually, we may be onto third or fourth helping status by this point, but in any case, what you might just be famished for is a little levity about the whole situation in Panem.
We here in District 14 abide by the "when up a tree, look for descending parodies" mode to surviving times of drought, and these videos dropped just in the nick of time.
Sit back and feast your eyes on our very favorite "Hunger Games" parodies. We think even the Capitol would approve (Well, maybe not President Snow. He doesn't have much of a sense of humor).

It may not be the most sophisticated effort at "Hunger Games" ribbing, but "The Hungry Games" is indeed an earnest play on the, shall we say, culinary opportunities that the nature and title of the story present.

Now that "The Hunger Games" has transformed Josh Hutcherson into the bread-slinging, camouflaged cutie Peeta Mellark (and trending Twitter topic Josh HOTcherson), are you willing to see every last movie he makes?
Apart from February's "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," though, Hutcherson's "Hunger Games" career effect has yet to be tested. Until now. Oh-so-conveniently, "Detention" (an indie slasher flick of his which sat on a shelf for about a year after debuting at Sundance) has been dusted off and prepped for distribution this Friday, just as "The Hunger Games" comes off a three week box office winning streak.
This campy teenage thriller stars Hutcherson (who's also an executive producer) as Clapton Davis, an eccentric high schooler who faces a trifecta of trouble — a bully, a maniacal principal (Dane Cook) and a serial killer — in his quest to nab the affection of popular blonde cheerleader Ione (Spencer Locke). This morning, we were surprised to learn that "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross might've just made the unfortunate decision to vacate his chair for the first sequel "Catching Fire."
The news is not officially official just yet, but fans across the various districts are already up in arms about it. The hashtag #WeWantGaryRoss made its way into today's trending topics on Twitter as a result of the story.
If it is true, and Ross will not return for the second film, we're left with a very burning question: Who could take his place?

The news is not officially official just yet, but fans across the various districts are already up in arms about it. The hashtag #WeWantGaryRoss made its way into today's trending topics on Twitter as a result of the story.
If it is true, and Ross will not return for the second film, we're left with a very burning question: Who could take his place?
Ross' will be big shoes to fill by whomever steps in, of course, so we thought we'd go ahead and size up some of the potential candidates for the job.

Now that "The Hunger Games" is tearing up the box office and we've had a chance to dig through what surprises the film offered even long-time fans, it's time to turn up the heat on the subject of the first sequel, "Catching Fire."
We already know a few deets about what's in store for the second "Hunger Games" installment. For one, Simon Beaufoy of "Slumdog Millionaire" and "127 Hours" fame is currently busy typing up a first script for the film. Also, the release date for "Catching Fire" is set for Nov. 22, 2013, and director Gary Ross is committed to direct it (though he's still not a sure thing for "Mockingjay" and we do hope he sticks it out for the full series). Plus rumor has it that the team is eyeing Hawaii as a potential filming destination for the new Arena scenes.
Still, with all the new characters and locations in the second story,...

Faithful as it was to the source material, "The Hunger Games" still had more than its fair share of on-screen surprises.
The movie hit all the major notes we anticipated, of course, and almost all of our predictions of bits cut from the film (Madge, Avoxes) proved true.
Even so, the following eight moments had our jaws on the floor.
Do be warned: this list is full of delicious spoilers, so if you haven't seen the movie yet, you may want to bookmark this column for later.
Foxface and Katniss Bump into Each Other
We weren't expecting Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and the sneaky Foxface (Jacqueline Emerson) to become, um, acquainted so early in the Games … but we really did like watching the two jointly opt for the flight (as opposed to fight) strategy to survival after colliding into one another. It definitely set them apart from the viciousness underway back at the Cornucopia.

There are innumerable reasons to love "The Hunger Games." There's action, romance, social commentary and the kind of compelling story arc that's unputdownable on the page and riveting on the screen. But one of the main reasons we think "The Hunger Games" is brilliant is author Suzanne Collins' unforgettable protagonist, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence).
Unlike the many damsels in distress peppered throughout pop culture, Katniss is part of a growing crop of fierce female protagonists. Here are five reasons Katniss is the kind of role model we'd always bet on to emerge a victor.
1. She's Brave. Courage under fire might as well be Katniss' middle name. It's not that she isn't afraid; there are countless moments in the Arena when Katniss is frightened at the very real possibility that she or Peeta aren't going to survive. But somehow she summons a bravery she's had to hone since her father's...

When you head to the theaters this weekend to see our girl Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) compete in "The Hunger Games," keep in mind there's another battle brewing. The battle for Miss Everdeen's heart, that is.
On one side is Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), who's been Katniss' tall, dark and handsome confidant and hunting partner ever since they both lost their fathers in a mining accident. For years, Gale has had the exclusive on Katniss' trust and attention thanks to their mutual need to provide for their younger siblings.
Then comes Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), her fellow tribute from District 12, who makes a startling confession about his life-long affection for Katniss, sending her into a mild tizzy and changing the nature of the Games altogether. Once upon a time, Peeta – whom she only knew as the baker's son — gave her some much-needed bread in a time of deep desperation. In fact,...

Right now, two femme-driven franchises are tearing up your news feed: "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games."
And let's be honest; Bella paved the way for Katniss. Before "Twilight," the biggest thing in book-to-film phenoms was "Harry Potter" and before that, it was "Lord of the Rings." Boy leads abounded.
So, the world was caught off-guard when a seemingly chick-centric flick took such a mighty box office bite. Studios scrambled to nab the "next big thing" in this – pardon the pun – arena, and whaddya know: Here comes Suzanne Collins with a Stephenie Meyer-praised trilogy, equipped with a strong she-protagonist, millions of fans deep and perfectly ripe for film translation.
No more doubts about the success potential of a literary heroine lead.
"The Hunger Games," of course, has earned its popularity (by being awesome) and Katniss and Bella are two very different characters.

Those faithful to Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" series know the books offer up a whole new catalog of vocab terms to explain the ins and outs of Panem.
Chances are, we'll be hearing plenty of such words this month when "The Hunger Games" finally hits theaters. So, to introduce the uninitiated and serve as a refresher for those who have read the books, we've created an A to Z glossary of the major "Hunger Games" terms you need to know before taking your spectator seat on March 23.

As is the case with most popular franchises these days, we lovers of "The Hunger Games" rely heavily on the interwebs to feed our need for the latest dish. We aren't patient like Katniss, who can sit in a tree and wait 'til the Capitol doles out the deets from up on high; we want our info coming as fast as a speeding arrow.
Fortunately, the net is positively ablaze with tributes all fired up about the movie and its stars.
Each week here in District 14, of course, we do our best to bring you something new to sink your teeth into, but we can't hold a candle to the fansite community when it comes to serving up all the nitty-gritty goods on "The Hunger Games."

Some say there's no such thing as an original story these days, especially in Hollywood. Any time a movie hits the mainstream, someone somewhere finds a way to call it a knock-off.
Author Suzanne Collins has been more than willing to lay her list of "The Hunger Games" inspirations on the table — the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, Roman gladiator games, the Vietnam and Iraq Wars, and her work on the reality TV series "Survivor" ... Sounds like a good recipe. Still, we can already smell the "Battle Royale" comparisons brewing.
Yes, "Battle Royale" also involves kids being forced to fight to the death, but we saw enough major differences between the two to be sure in advance that "The Hunger Games" is in a league all its own.

The merchandising on "The Hunger Games" is already pretty exhaustive ... almost as prolific as the studio's presence on the web.
To put it lightly, they've covered a lot of bases with what’s been put on the market for this series. Consider: Did you know that you can actually buy the butterfly and deer false eyelashes seen on Effie Trinket in the Capitol Colours Nail Polish line ad? Yep. True story.
Anyway, collectibles retailer Neca recently released a whole slew of its licensed "Hunger Games" goodies, and they've got everything from Katniss knee socks on up to "Mockingjay" slap bracelets.
Still, we see a few lost opportunities and have put together this wish list of 10 pieces of "Hunger Games" merchandise we'd like to see next.
Effie Trinket-Designed Wig Line
Right now Effie Trinket's pimping nail polish in her Capitol ads, but what she could really sell is a wig line.

In "The Hunger Games," Katniss' only shot at sizing up the competition comes from screening a few reaping ceremonies and interviews.
We fans, however, have an opportunity to learn a lot about the line-up of young castmates thanks to their previous movies and television roles.
In fact, these kids' prior work is so great that we decided to knot together a little handy-dandy must-see list. Check these out and you'll be well-versed in who's who among the "Hunger Games" tributes and friends long before anyone steps foot in the Arena.
Jennifer Lawrence
Lucky for us, J.Law has done quite a few watch-worthy films in recent years. She's already earned high marks from the Gamemakers critics for her work in "Winter's Bone" – which earned her an Oscar nomination - and she's wowed the indie crowd, too, with movies like "Like Crazy." Translating a popular book series into films can be tricky business.
Sure, it's nice to have a built-in army of fans just waiting to line up at the ticket booth, but chances are they'll expect to see every moment they imagined while reading it and be the most critical of any changes. Of course, even the most faithful adaptations invariably have to nix something.
We looked into our crystal ball and came up with five scenes in "The Hunger Games" we think may not make it onto the big screen (for better or worse). What would you think if they were cut? Do you agree?
Madge Before the Reaping
Well, we kind of already know this one's a goner. In the "Hunger Games" trailer, we saw little Prim don the Mockingjay pin at the Reaping and hand it over to Katniss. No Madge Undersee in sight. She didn't make the cast list either.

Yesterday, Jennifer Lawrence took the podium – tough Katniss on The Capitol interview stage-style - to perform the 2012 Academy Award nominations reading, but that's just a drop in the bucket when it comes to "The Hunger Games" Oscar connections.
In fact, between the cast and filmmakers, we counted more than two dozen Oscar nominations and quite a few wins. Who knew these gamekeepers, so to speak, were so accomplished?!
This list should tell you just what caliber of talent is involved in "The Hunger Games," both on and off-screen.
Jennifer Lawrence: 1
Katniss herself, Jennifer Lawrence, was one of 2010's Best Actress nominees for her work as Ree in "Winter's Bone," and while she didn't win, she sure turned some heads and clenched her spot on the list of must-watch young actresses early in her career thanks to it.
Josh Hutcherson: 0

Make no bones about it. Food is a central theme of "The Hunger Games."
Whether it's Greasy Sae's beef (cough, dog) stew or a basket of District Four's little seaweed bread rolls, there's always some dish up for discussion in the series.
Wisely, Emily Ansara Baines recently released "The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook," which is packed with 150 or so recipes all inspired by some part of "The Hunger Games," with little guides for each to explain the story connection. These recipes range from the expected — like Katniss' favorite Capitol offering, Lamb Stew — to the absolutely bizarre, as with "Grilled Tree Rat with Peanut Butter Dipping Sauce." Chances are, this is the first and last time several of these recipes will ever meet print.
Steering clear of some of the more off-kilter offerings, I decided to try my hand at a few of these. The results were definitely mixed.

As the popularity of "The Hunger Games" continues to increase, so does the film studio's effort to collectivize and energize the fan base.
So far, they've been pretty darn effective on the web.
In the fall, Lionsgate rolled out TheCapitol.pn, a website which began as a curious snow screen (an homage President Snow, no doubt) and has since blossomed into a full-on social media extravaganza to the tune of more than 50,000 Facebook participants.
At first, fans were simply asked to register with their Twitter or Facebook accounts and wait for word from The Capitol. They were later slowly sectioned off into the 12 (on-the-grid) districts of Panem, invited to participate in a mayoral election for their districts and given little community squares at which to share photos, stories and comments with fellow members.
View Gallery » By this point, TheCapitol.pn essentially has become a hub composite of social networking with a "Hunger Games" role-play-like twist.

We're only a few artist announcements deep and already a vision for "The Hunger Games" soundtrack is becoming clear: Go big or stay far, far away from the arena.
Starting out with one of today's most popular young songstresses, Taylor Swift, was a surefire way to begin the story of this soundtrack series with a bang. Her "Safe and Sound" (with The Civil Wars) quickly climbed iTunes charts and sparked rampant speculation about its likely placement in the film.
"All I can imagine is the scene with Prim and Katniss, who is consoling her sister," tweets @PO_Desdemona. "The song is good."
"I do see [Katniss] with Rue, but it's just the overall down and blue feeling," writes one of our commenters about the song. "There is a big sense of protecting ones close to you and this song's lyrics and music captures both the down trodden vibe and love vibe the characters,...

We can hardly believe it, but just a year ago "The Hunger Games" had no release date, no cast, no trailer and certainly no nail polish line to speak of. In 2011, though, the world became Panem, and when we fans think back on this year, these are the things we'll remember most.
Do you agree with our list? Share your thoughts and memories in the comments section below.
Jennifer Lawrence Is Katniss!
The movie's cast filled out (agonizingly) slowly this spring. Rumors of Hailee Steinfeld and Chloe Moretz filled the early months of the year, so we were all a little shell-shocked when we finally learned that Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence would be our Katniss. Fans were even more surprised by the choices of Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne, respectively. Other additions were met with glee, though, like Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy and Donald Sutherland for President Snow.

The holiday season is upon us, but all we can think about is "The Hunger Games." As far as we’re concerned, it’s time to deck the halls with posters of Katniss, and don we now our Mockingjay pins... You get it.
To celebrate the spirit of both, then, we thought about which presents we might get our favorite "Hunger Games" characters for Christmas this year.
We may even have them wrapped up like little parachutes. Just sayin'.
District 12-ers
For the one and only Katniss Everdeen, we'd get a sturdy tree stand. Sure, it's a little boring, but waiting on game to wander by can make a girl sleepy, and we've seen her fall one time too many on a drowsy day. We can't have our favorite archer breaking a collarbone when she's got to be fit to climb some pine and escape the career tributes, now can we?...

It may still be December, but I'm already in full-on nervous anticipation mode for "The Hunger Games" debut in March.
From everything released from the movie so far – including several big scenes – it looks to be a pretty faithful adaptation. Still, there are a few I just can't wait to feast my eyes upon.
Here are my five most anticipated moments – check 'em out and get ready to give me your thoughts (What did I miss? Which ones are your faves?) when you finish.
The Boy with the Bread
"The Hunger Games" is rife with flashback scenes but one stands out most for me: The Boy with the Bread. It's the first moment when we realize that Peeta Mellark is no ordinary boy and his feelings for Katniss are no small, fleeting crush. Seeing Katniss at death's door, scrambling through garbage cans and hoping to find even the tiniest morsels...
