- On June 7, 1962, Boyd and his engineer Phil Weston found the wreckage of Toronto Maple Leafs hockey defenseman Bill Barilko's Fairchild 24, which had been missing for 11 years, having crashed 100 kilometers north of Cochrane, Ontario. Barilko and hiss pilot-inc-command, dentist Henry Hudson were killed in the 1951 crash.
