Highly talented and dynamically energetic pianist. He has the ability to
perform songs on the piano with his body in several difficult,
acrobatic-like positions, such as in a handstand, backwards, forwards,
sideways, upside-down, on the ground, on his knees, with his limbs or feet, standing or lying on the piano, and
standing on top of piano keys. His hands playing the piano are seen in
the film Great Balls of Fire! (1989), in the role of
Jerry Lee Lewis.
[on his musical influences] A good portion of it was inspired by Jerry [Lee Lewis], no doubt. But I went on the road with Sleepy LaBeef, who was one of the original rockabillies, when I was 16 to 17 years old. That's where I cut my teeth. Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Louis Jordan, that's where I got a lot, too.
