This is The week to invest in a PS3 just so you can buy and download the fantastic Dead Nation exclusively on the Playstation Network. Trust us - it will be worth your while.
If you are not a gamer, this week's horror offerings are limited to some fangless bites with the latest installment of Twilight, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (and all its related merchandise), staking (ha!) out a Saturday release all by itself. There's also Vampires Suck, but the release party flash mob in Hollywood on November 30th sounds more interesting than the film itself.

The Winter Olympics kick off tonight, it's NBA All-Star Weekend and Valentine's Day is Sunday, but if you're like us, you're going to be first in line tonight to see "The Wolfman" at your local cineplex. The film, which stars Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins, tells the classic story of a man (Del Toro) dealing with the curse of the werewolf. Del Toro isn't a sexy werewolf like that Jacob Black kid from "New Moon" — rather, he's a savage, bloodthirsty beast who is a danger to himself and the people around him. Director Joe Johnston has some familiarity with large beasts (he has previously directed "Jurassic Park III" and "Jumanji"), so if nothing else, the beasties should be delightfully great.
Like any great popcorn flick, "The Wolfman" requires an appropriate video playlist. For unclear reasons, many bands have spent the 21st century obsessing over wolves (both the were and non-were varieties). In fact,...

You know AFI, aka A Fire Inside, the goth-punk rock band probably most known for its 2006 hit 'Miss Murder'. Thursday the band launched its first web series, In Tranmission, a making-of documentary for the band eighth studio album, Crash Love. The weekly series is an exclusive on music social media network Buzznet. It's not quite Wilco's I Am Trying to Break Your Heart—the true benchmark of rock album chronicling. And unless you're already a fan of AFI, it's not likely you'll be checking back weekly on this one. The opening episodes drag on with talking head shots of the band members—Adam Carson, Jade Puget, Hunter Burgan, and Davey Havok—explaining why "Torch Song" was picked to open the album. Though touted as "a rare and comprehensive look at the inner workings of a band that is normally shrouded in mystery," it's strikingly without any actual music in the two 5-minute episodes so far.

[1] New Moon, as anyone frequenting any type of mass media would probably know, is the second part of the filmings of Stephanie Meyers' Twilight Saga. This part, directed by Chris Weitz, has its release on November 20, and apparently the soundtrack sizzled as it hit the audience. The New Moon soundtrack is more expansive in styles than its predecessor. Again responsible for the song choices is musical supervisor Alexandra Patsavas, and it seems she has been destined to lift several bands out of obscurity and into the mainstream. Acts such as Grizzly Bear and Lykke Li are present, having previously been cult status performers. Carter Burwell composed the score for the previous movie, but this time the Oscar nominated Alexandre Desplat of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Queen fame is in charge. One has to admit that Patsavas has compiled a pleasing combination of styles. None of its...

The Twilight: New Moon soundtrack. So, there’s a second film about sexy boy vampires, and although you might have expected another twelve songs of emo bleurgh to go with it, it turns out those feisty little vamps and vampettes have grown out of all that noisy melancholy riff-rock and now have a taste for Thom Yorke, The Killers, Bon Iver, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. They grow up so fast.
The soundtrack album to the first Twilight got the ball rolling with Muse, Paramore and Linkin Park, so seeing Mr Yorke turn up here is something of a shock (a Thom Yorke track was used over the end credits of the first film, but was not included on the soundtrack. Since then Mr Yorke has presumably decided to embrace the Twilight series with open arms – expect many songs about kissing perty vampire boys on the next Radiohead album). Evergreen...

The New Moon soundtrack officially hit shelves a week ago and since then weve seen a great review from Entertainment Weekly mixed reviews from fans and today we get a very positive review from the people over at Rolling Stone. In their review they compare New Moon to John Hughes Pretty in Pink and even go so far as to say that Bram Stoker would be proud. Read their review below in which they gave the New Moon original soundtrack 4.5 starsThe genius of the Twilight saga is the way it celebrates the passion of the allAmerican fang hag with Robert Pattinson as the perfect plasmaslurping pinup boy Hes hot hes sexy and hes undead. So New Moon is a movie soundtrack but its also a concept album about the bond between teenage girls and their imaginary bloodsucker boyfriends. As a movie New Moon isnt too far from Pretty in Pink except now Duckies a werewolf.

The Zombieland soundtrack. Considering that the movie revolves around a neatly-ordered roster of rules (Jesse Eisenberg’s cowardly Columbus comprehensively laying down the law on how to avoid being gobbled by the undead), it seems appropriate that the soundtrack of Zombieland should exhibit similarly taxonomic tendencies. Because the range of songs here each fall into one of several sub-categories, with these mini-groupings then in turn all uniting under a single banner – that of the Flag of Fromage. So we get examples of barroom rock cheese, lonely hearts cheese, Americana cheese, and pop culture cheese, as well as a few bits of random classical and college rock being tossed into the great zombie fondue as well.
It is a musical collection which seems attuned to the spawning movie’s two central characters, with the robust, no-nonsense sensibility of Woody Harrelson’s Tallahassee and the simpering timidity of Columbus both seeping through from specific cuts.

The "Twilight" soundtrack — featuring music from Paramore, Linkin Park and some guy named — has, to date, sold nearly 2.3 million copies in the U.S. alone and has been a rare bright spot for the music business in these dire times (well, it and Taylor Swift albums).
Compared with Taylor, the "New Moon" soundtrack — which was rush-released on Friday (October 16) to combat early leaks — boasts contributions from the likes of Thom Yorke, Lykke Li and Grizzly Bear (not to mention a first single from Death Cab For Cutie), is pretty dark. It is, as I wrote earlier this week "Music for the masses — or at least the masses who wear glasses and own record players and bought tickets to the Pavement reunion."

Every great romance needs a great soundtrack. So one huge problem I had with Twilight (other than the overacting, terrible script, and all the screaming fans around me in the theater) was the music. This movie was part of a pop culture sensation, and the filmmakers had the chance to entwine the romance on screen with some amazing tunes to culture its pre-teen audience. “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” by Iron and Wine was really the only standout track on the soundtrack to me, while Paramore and Linkin Park seemed like obvious choices for the time in which the film came out, and while these bands added to the angsty feeling of teen romance, they just didn’t do it for me.
Luckily, the film’s sequel, New Moon, looks like it’s got a killer soundtrack in the works. Most of the choices are a bit surprising, like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Grizzly Bear,...
