By the time 2018 rolls around, John Kraskinski is hoping you’ll see him as more than just Jim Halpert from “The Office.” He’ll be going into action mode over at Amazon, leading “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” and he also takes the lead in “A Quiet Place,” which sees him go Full Beard for what looks like a pretty cool thriller.

Amazon just released the full teaser trailer for their upcoming series Jack Ryan, which is based on the character from Tom Clancy's classic novels. We've seen a couple of brief promos for the series, but this trailer gives us our best look yet and it looks like it will end up being a really good series! I'm actually looking forward to checking it out! Here's the synopsis:

John Krasinski can cross off his career To Do List playing “paper-pushing characters” whose greatest work-related danger is a staple remover that bites back because, judging by the new trailer of his upcoming Amazon series “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” he’s in for some high-octane, firepower, superspy action. Amazon unveiled the teaser trailer for its eight-episode 2018 series at the New York Comic-Con on Saturday with the best look yet at Krasinski in the role previously played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. In the clip, Jack Ryan goes from CIA analyst who stumbles upon a suspicious series.

A new promo spot has been released for Amazon's new series Jack Ryan, based on the character and book series created by Tom Clancy. I've always been a fan of the Jack Ryan character. He's a complete badass and I think John Krasinski is a great choice to take him on. If you don't think Krasinski, who is best known for his role as Jim on The Office, could be right for this part, go watch the Michael Bay film 13 Hours. That's the movie that sold me on him playing Jack Ryan. The new promo shows him start the interrogation of a suspect that was pulled off on the streets by his team.

In a weird way, Tom Clancy creation Jack Ryan might be the closest thing we have to an American James Bond...in the sense that we have a military hero from an ultra-conservative/nationalist author who has multiple films spanning decades with many different actors portraying him. I’m not too sure what this has to do with Jack Ryan just yet but that money sure does get around. The teaser for Jack Ryan is indeed a giant tease as you see the ten dollar bill making its way from place to place, sometimes legal, most times not. It’s interesting to think of how money gets around and how easily it can become used for one purpose or another. Jack Ryan is of course the popular character created by Tom Clancy that is notoriously well known by fans and idolized by many. What this teaser has to do

“American Assassin” aims to be a political thriller with a contemporary mindset, but it feels like it was made for audiences from the 1990s that didn’t get enough Tom Clancy movies. Dylan O’Brien, tackling not only his first proper “adult” role but also his first project since suffering a debilitating accident on the set of the third “Maze Runner” film, plays the protagonist of Vince Flynn’s bestselling book series with intensity and verve. But the meta-narrative of his rehabilitation provides a more compelling journey than the movie is interested in exploring with its lead character. Nevertheless a suitably exciting action film.

Writer/producer Akiva Goldsman will develop for Paramount Pictures, a live action adaptation of "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six" fiction novel (1998) and subsequent tactical first-person shooter video games, focusing on an international counter-terrorist unit, starring Ryan Reynolds ("Deadpool"):
"...'Rainbow' is an international counter-terrorism operation hosted by 'Nato' and funded by money funneled through the 'Us Department of the Interior'.
"The Rainbow base of operations is located in Hereford, England, due to the UK being one of the most accessible countries in the world and having one of the world's foremost special forces units. Most of the characters in Rainbow are American or British, though the Nato countries of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, and the Nato ally of Israel have at least one representative each.
"One 'Director' oversees the entire operation, and one 'Deputy Director' is second in command. Rainbow is portrayed as the 'blacker than black' operations, working off its own intelligence services.

Truth be told, it’s actually becoming quite amusing how shared cinematic universes are gaining steam these days, something we obviously have Marvel Studios to thank for. Sure, Warner Bros. following suit with their DC superhero properties makes perfectly logical sense given the nature of the source material, but some instances of this practice are becoming a bit hard to swallow.
So, while we sit back and see if something spewed forth by the Dark Universe actually turns a profit domestically or dream of a shared continuity inspired by Tom Clancy video games becoming a reality, we’ll have to settle for things like The Crooked Man. Although there’ve been whispers of such a spinoff coming to fruition as of late, it’s always for the better to get actual confirmation, right?

Donald Trump may be too thin-skinned to attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, but at least a former head of state made an appearance last night. Well, kind of: Will Ferrell reprised his role as George W. You time is valuable, and so are both services for different reasons.War Machine (Netflix)
Although there may be a competition going on between Amazon and Netflix for subscribers, the truth is that both company’s streaming services are essential for anyone who watches a lot of movies and TV and who wants to be part of the pop culture conversations as they happen.
There’s no denying that Amazon Prime is worth the $99/year, which not only gives you access to many movies but also a good amount of music streaming and digital media access, plus faster shipping for when you actually want some sort of physical product (you can also just get video content for $8.99/month, which oddly means paying more for less).
And Netflix is still a must-have for both its exclusive and nonexclusive content, though depending on one’s usage could be best for sporadic membership rather than continued subscription — now at $120/year...

The scripted drama boom is changing the entire TV industry. But is it a change for the better?
“It’s an exciting time,” is a refrain now most commonly uttered by those in the business of making content for the Us streaming services.
Not only have Netflix, Amazon and co fuelled a surge in the volume of scripted content, subscription video on demand services (SVoDs) are also doing their bit, as they expand and evolve, to change the business and art of high-end television.
“Partly it’s driven by the SVoDs, partly it’s driven by the retrenching of the feature film business,” says Ted Miller, co-head of the television department at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), whose client Matthew Weiner is among the high-profile writer-producers working on streaming series.

Seriously, who would’ve thought that Gwen Stacy would become a superhero with one of the biggest cult followings of this decade? While many know her as Spider-Man’s ill-fated girlfriend, an alternate universe version of her has popped up in recent years, whom you may know as Spider-Gwen. Now, it appears as though Image isn’t content to let Marvel have all the fun as they’ve Gwen-ified one of their own with Invincible #135’s April Fools variant cover. It’s especially hilarious because it takes a jab at Marvel’s love for the “#1,” something many have had valid criticism concerning.

John Krasinski (The Hollars) will headline the series, which follows Clancy's beloved hero at an early stage in his career when he's an up-and-coming analyst at the CIA, who then finds himself thrust into a deadly field assignment for the very first time. Morten Tyldum has seen better days. The Oscar-nominated director behind The Imitation Game and Headhunters found himself receiving some of the worst reviews of his career with Passengers, and the box office take for the expensive blockbuster hasn’t looked much better. Some thought it might put the Norweigan filmmaker in director’s jail, in fact, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, as he’s now set to helm the pilot for Amazon’s newest dramatic series, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.
Reinventing the popular literary figure once played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and, most recently, Chris Pine, John Krasinski embodies the titular hero in his first television portrayal. In this iteration, Ryan’s an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into his first dangerous field assignment. Abbie Cornish co-stars as his love interest, Cathy Mueller.

Railroad Tigers is a special breed of cinematic import so rooted in cultural normalities, it’s as if a wall stands between overseas viewers and total immersion. At heart, Jackie Chan’s latest adventure is a dangerous hicks-vs-military underdog mission – but comedic buffoonery distracts and disengages. Clarinets and oboes (or related instruments?) provide a bubbly soundtrack for a damning suicide mission, never to embrace the seriousness of sacrificial heft. Gunshots ring out as characters joke, while Chan’s cutesy martial artistry evokes a less-enthusiastic Drunken Master who fumbles clashing tonalities. I mean, it’s an immediate red flag when you endure more character-card introductions than Suicide Squad – that’s one runaway train you don’t want to imitate.
Chan stars as Ma Yuan, a humble railroad worker who also moonlights as a member of the Flying Tigers gang. Together, with his clan of misfits, Ma Yuan rebels against Japanese invaders.

Can you imagine a more charming, pleasant boss than John Krasinski? While the 37-year-old actor has made a bid for movie stardom in his years since leaving The Office, he's also quietly established himself behind the camera: He made his directorial debut with 2009's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, in addition to helming several episodes of the NBC sitcom.
This year marked the release of his latest effort, The Hollars, a goofy but heartfelt indie about a man (played by Krasinski) who returns to his hometown when his mom falls ill, forced to deal with his dysfunctional family even as he and his pregnant girlfriend start one of their own. The film premiered at Sundance earlier this year and is now available on DVD. Krasinski got on the phone with Et to talk directing nerves, knowing right away that he would marry Emily Blunt, how fatherhood has changed him, and exactly how "jacked" he'll get for his...
