With Covid-related production and release delays mostly in the rearview mirror, those arriving this week at the Sundance Film Festival will face another potential conundrum.
The hope among filmmakers and interested sellers is that the dual requirements of a two-tracked exhibition system — films for theaters and movies for streaming — will fuel a bull market. Fears abound that as streamers claim to restore fiscal sanity while Wall Street no longer cares about subscribers and content spends, the reckless content splurges of the past will cease to drive eyes-are-bigger-than-your-stomach purchases.
Save for Amazon’s Prime Video and Apple TV+, which arguably can still overbid, studios and streamers might be less willing to throw money at high-profile but commercially questionable titles. Concurrently, fears of an upcoming Writers Guild strike could lead to more wealth being spread around toward more movies in another variation on content-for-content’s sake spending.

James Cameron has revealed that a full screenplay for Avatar 2 was tossed out because he wasn’t happy with it, despite it taking a year to write.
Avatar: The Way of Water comes 13 years after the record-breaking original grossed nearly 2.85bn (£2.5bn) and is set for release in December.
“When I sat down with my writers to start Avatar 2, I said we cannot do the next one until we understand why the first one did so well,” Cameron told The Times in a new interview. “We must crack the code of what the hell happened.”
What were the conclusions of his team’s research? “Well, all films work on different levels. The first is surface, which is character, problem and resolution. The second is thematic. What is the movie trying to say? But Avatar also works on a third level, the subconscious,” the director explained.

Liam O’Donnell (Beyond Skyline, Skylines) will direct Skyline Radial, the fourth installment in the series, from his own script, with the original producing team of the franchise returning to produce. Released in 2010, the original in the series, Skyline, co-written and produced by O’Donnell, was an international box office success and one of the more profitable films of the year.
O’Donnell went on to write and direct the subsequent two sequels, Beyond Skyline (review) and Skylines, (review) to success overseas.
Skyline Radial will center on the franchise’s beloved main character Rose Corley. When Rose and her crew embark on a daring mission to rescue her father, Mark, from a secret prison, they are confronted with the ultimate power of the universe: an ancient alien race known only as The Radial. The latest film is currently casting, with key cast expected to return. Production is slated to start this year.

While I’m not much of a fan of the sci-fi indie Skyline, I quite like Beyond Skyline, which gives tribute to classic sci-fi horror like Aliens and Predator. When I started watching Skylines, I’ll admit the first thing that surprised me was that this is in fact the third movie. Thankfully with the recap given, this didn’t stop me from enjoying what was to come…
With the friendly alien hybrids now living on Earth, danger looms as a new virus starts to turn them against humans. Captain Rose Corley (Lindsey Morgan) finds herself coerced into leading an elite team of mercenaries on a mission to alien home world in order to try to save what is left of humanity.
The first thing I liked about Skylines is the fact there are plenty of familiar faces who are dependable at providing strong performances.

To celebrate the release of Skylines, the third and final part of the Skyline trilogy, we sat down with its eclectic cast and filmmakers to find out all about the thrilling third chapter.
Set several years after Skyline and Beyond Skyline, Skylines sees the remaining soldiers on the invaded Earth take the fight to them, heading to their home planet of Colbalt1 to save us all after those aliens living peacefully soon become hostile due to a deadly virus.
Director Liam O’Donnell tells us of the unique challenges of making a third film – and, yes, talk of Batman, Godfather, and more are discussed – whilst still breaking new ground with the story. While cast members Lindsey Morgan, Alexander Siddig, and Daniel Bernhardt tell us about the thrill of making the film and, despite its vast, sci-fi action nature, there are much deeper messages and themes in it than the audience may expect.

I have been podcasting and reviewing for some time now. I love the whole process. It was surprising and humbling when actors, directors, producers, distributors and all manner of creatives within the industry started speaking to us. Add to this that we seemed to start gaining a little bit of credit due to the relaxed nature of the interviews… I mean Toby Osmond was that relaxed once he went for a sit down toilet mid interview!
This led to comic cons, set visits, interviews, quotes on boxes, movie premieres, a trip to America to meet other podcasters and so many other amazing things. I had this idea in my head that I really wanted to push the world of indie film, get it infront of as many eyes as possible; though beyond that I just wasn’t sure how I would do it. Then 2020 hit and all of a sudden...

2020 may well end up being one of the worse years in recent memory but when we look back at this year, there will be at least one moment of joy in all of it: the release of Skylines.
Hard to believe that it's been ten years since the surprise hit that was Skyline but here we are, three movies and knee deep in mythology and world-building that has lead us to the final showdown. Writer/director Liam O'Donnell returns for the latest installment which stars Lindsey Morgan (one of the best parts of "The 100") as Captain Rose Corley, the leader of an elite team of soldiers sent on a mission to the alien home world in an a last ditch effort to save what's left of the human race.
The new movie also co-stars Jonathan Howard, Rhona Mitra, Alexander Siddig and James Cosmo.

I had initially started this review with a brief history of the place in my heart that I have for the Skyline franchise but you know what? Let me just say that I am a total sci-fi nerd, I love alien invasion film and I especially love a flick that has the balls to have insane ambition and looks to create a wide reaching universe. Skyline has always been that franchise! A franchise that knows exactly what it is and where it wants to be; a franchise that for the budget they have, always pulls out the stops and impresses from start to finish; a franchise that lets be honest doesn’t get the credit it deserves.

"We'll have to push beyond our limits." Vertical Ent. has released an official trailer for sci-fi action sequel Skylin3s (aka Skyline 3), from writer / director Liam O'Donnell, with VFX by UK's LipSync. In Skyline (2010) the alien invasion began... in Beyond Skyline (2017) the earth fought back... in Skylin3s, the highly anticipated third installment of the hit sci-fi franchise, an elite team heads to the alien's home planet on a final desperate mission to save humanity. Welcome back to Let’s Scare Bryan to Death! This month, we’re talking to Josh Alvarez, who you might know from the Cinepunx podcast (which he co-hosts with former Lsbtd guest Liam O’Donnell) and as the frontman for the Philly-area punk band Crossed Keys. Alvarez brings intelligence and thoughtfulness to both his film analysis and his music, so I suppose it’s no surprise that his choice for this month’s film is equally intelligent and thoughtful, Kim Jee-woon’s 2003 ghost story A Tale of Two Sisters.
Based loosely on a Korean fairy tale, A Tale of Two Sisters follows Su-mi (Im Soo-jung), a young girl returning home after being released from a mental institution. As she tries to re-acclimate to life outside of the institution, she has trouble coming to terms with her father, Moo-hyeon (Kim Kap-soo), and domineering stepmother, Eun-joo (Yum Jung-ah), who had previously been an...

The first poster and still from the film have been revealed and we're excited to see where Liam takes his crazy story from where he left us in Beyond Skyline.
Synopsis:
