It was reported this week that there was a giant photo of former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton hanging up at the team’s practice facility, as if to offer the players some sort of motivation.
In case anyone has forgotten, the reason that Payton is not the coach of the Saints is that he has been suspended for the entire 2012 season for his part in the bounty scandal.
The NFL has seen it fit to relieve him of his coaching duties for a whole year, but the Saints think it’s okay to place a huge picture of Payton, along with the caption ‘do your job,’ up in the team’s facilities. This man has been disgraced, I mean, come on.
Is that just how Sean Payton did his job? Is that the job Payton was doing when he either was directly involved in the bounty program,...

Don't fuck with David Stern, even if you're a guy like Jim Rome, who has made a living fucking with people. Oops, sorry, Jim Rome, don't take offense!
The famously prickly NBA Commissioner took offense to Jim Rome's asking about whether or not the NBA Draft was rigged. In Rome's defense -- and he said as much -- there's always been speculation about a rigged lottery, and this year the team the NBA still owns (the New Orleans Hornets, even though a deal has been made to sell the team to Tom Benson) won the first overall pick.
David Stern responds with a classic version of, "I'll answer your question with another question." Unfortunately for everyone, that question was, "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"
Deadspin has the audio if you want to listen to some awkward debate that turns personal, but it's clear that Stern chose a...

New York -- "American Idol" franchise owner Ckx Inc. has promoted Kraig Fox to the position of chief operating officer, the company said Thursday.
Fox has been with Ckx since its formation in 2005 as chief corporate development officer and executive vp. He will oversee all global operations, reporting to CEO Michael Ferrel.
"We have worked closely together for almost 16 years and I have the utmost trust and respect for Kraig," said Ferrel.
In mid-August, Ckx CFO Tom Benson said a decision on a possible sale of the firm should come by late this year.
Founder Robert "FX" Sillerman, "Idol" creator Simon Fuller and Jp Morgan Chase's private equity arm are among the parties that have looked at the company.

New York - "American Idol" will refocus on strong talent in this coming season as it looks to revive its ratings and will have new judges in place within the next month, Michael Ferrel, CEO of owner Ckx Inc., said Monday.
"We want to refocus 'Idol' on its talent," he told analysts on the company's quarterly earnings call. He highlighted that ratings, particularly among the key 18-49 demo, declined more strongly at the end of the previous season.
The audition process for the coming 10th season that started last month has averaged 13,000 candidates, executives said.
Overall, Ferrel said he feels that "Idol" is better positioned this season thanks to the return of Nigel Lythgoe as executive producer - who he called "a proactive field general" who can help the show top to bottom - and a new deal with Universal Music Group, which will help with music selection and the like.

We reported earlier on New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson's donation to an auction that would raise funds for Glenn Beck's 8/28 "Restoring Honor" rally and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation only after Beck's event is paid for. We later reported that donations have already exceeded the event's estimated cost.
Now, Mother Jones is reporting that ABC made a similar donation, involving a visit to the set of Good Morning America and an introduction to George Stephanopoulos, but withdrew it when they learned of Beck's involvement.
