Sarah Michelle Gellar is stepping back into the shoes of her cunning Cruel Intentions villain Kathryn Merteuil for one special cause: to tell audience members to turn off their cell phones.
The 40-year-old actress has recorded the pre-show announcement for Off-Broadway’s Cruel Intentions: The ’90s Musical Experience — the sly send-up of Roger Kumble’s 1999 teen classic that’s now playing at New York City’s (le) Poisson Rouge.

“I can hear it now: ‘Go to Italy. It’s a peaceful country, nothing much ever happens there’.”
Dario Argento’s The Bird With The Crystal Plumage 2-disc limited edition will be available on Blu-ray + DVD June 20th From Arrow Video
In 1970, young first-time director Dario Argento (Deep Red, Suspiria) made his indelible mark on Italian cinema with The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, a film which redefined the ‘giallo’ genre of murder-mystery thrillers and catapulted him to international stardom.
Sam Dalmas (Tony Musante, We Own the Night), an American writer living in Rome, inadvertently witnesses a brutal attack on a woman (Eva Renzi, Funeral in Berlin) in a modern art gallery. Powerless to help, he grows increasingly obsessed with the incident. Convinced that something he saw that night holds the key to identifying the maniac terrorizing Rome, he launches his own investigation parallel to that of the police, heedless...

Hope you guys made some extra room in your wallets for all the cash you’ll undoubtedly be shelling out this week (love me some “dad humor”), as August 23rd boasts an awesome selection of horror and sci-fi Blu-ray and DVD releases, all capped off by the home entertainment debuts of both season one of Ash vs Evil Dead and the sixth season of The Walking Dead.
Arrow Video is giving the cult classic The Bloodstained Butterfly an HD overhaul for their impressive-looking two-disc Special Edition release that arrives this Tuesday, and Scream Factory is doing the same for another cult classic, Psycho IV: The Beginning. Kino Lorber is releasing a Blu-ray for Chandu The Magician this week, and we’ve also got a DVD and Blu release for Jon Watts’ Clown to look forward to as well.

Speaking of horror-comedies and things returning, Return of the Killer Tomatoes was also recently released to Blu-ray, this time by the Us chapter of Arrow Video. I know, you’re thinking to yourself “Return of the Killer Tomatoes, really?” Yes, really, and honestly, it deserves every inch of the Criterion-like treatment that Arrow Video gives their releases. It’s not a great movie, and it definitely doesn’t retain a lot of the novelty established by the original, but it features a very young and sex-starved George Clooney, and even though it recycles a lot of footage, it’s actually a pretty fun time. It’s not up there with Return of the Living Dead, but it has a fan base, of which I am a member.
This sequel takes place ten years after the events of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, in a land where people live in fear of tomatoes,...

They Came For Dinner…To Find They Were It!!
Microwave Massacre stars legendary stand-up comedian and actor Jackie Vernon as Donald, a disgruntled construction worker whose wife’s predilection for haute cuisine drives him to cannibalism.
Donald unwittingly stumbles upon a solution to his two major problems in his life – his nagging wife and his lack of decent meals – when, one night, he bludgeons his better half to death with a pepper grinder in a drunken rage. Thinking on his feet, Donald dismembers the body and sets about microwaving the remains, which turn out to be rather delicious.
