Recently, Nick Kyrgios made an interesting statement that got many former tennis players, and tennis coaches talking.
Currently absent from the Atp Tour, the Australian has spent some time doing media duties, talking to multiple publications and appearing on numerous podcasts while recovering from an injury.
On one of those appearances, Kyrgios said that Novak Djokovic would destroy the likes of Pete Sampras, claiming that many former tennis greats would struggle in this era.
However, many quickly started discussing whether Kyrgios' comments were fair since eras are difficult to compare, and one of the former players who jumped in was Boris Becker, who immediately called out the Australian's "credibility."
But he wasn't the only one, as Serena Williams' former coach and former doubles world no. 1, Rennae Stubbs, also commented on the matter, supporting Becker's claims about eras being incomparable.
"Well said Boris, sports evolve. Tennis players get faster, stronger,...

Boris Becker never thought he'd spend time in prison many years ago, but it happened and shifted his perspective forever.
Becker was once a highly respected individual, and while his reputation took a hit with the sentencing and prison time, the former German Atp player is still grateful for the experience.
It was a challenging experience for him, one which he spoke about often since coming out, but it also shifted his perspective. It allowed him to self-reflect, and here he is, rebuilding his reputation as a tennis person first and foremost.
He's coaching Holger Rune as of recently, and he's doing a pretty fine job. Rune credits him for pulling him out of a major slump, which helped him find himself in Turin. He talked about his experience in a recent interview with L'Equipe.
You are nobody in prison. You are just a number. Mine was A2923EV. I wasn't called Boris.

Holger Rune hired a new coach recently, and he's enjoyed the experience of being able to tap into his best tennis.
Holger Rune had a shockingly bad run over the summer, losing multiple matches in a row. At one point, the Dane was 1-10 in his last 11 matches, which obviously wasn't good for a Top 5 player on the Atp Tour.
Despite having a tremendous start to the season, Rune is actually fighting for a spot at the 2023 Atp Finals in Turin, which seems mad compared to just months ago. Back in June, Rune looked like a safe bet in Turin, but that bad run in recent weeks puts him in a tricky spot right now.
Changes needed to be made, obviously, so he made them. He hired Boris Becker as his new coach and saw his level improve in the first event under him .
The impressions so far are pretty good.

Holger Rune played his first Atp event with Boris Becker on the sidelines coaching him, and former player Jimmy Connors was fascinated by it.
It was a really interesting event for Holger Rune as he won a couple of matches, which is good for him. He didn't achieve his goal of going all the way and still hasn't secured a spot in Turin, but it was the best outing he's had in months, no matter how weird that sounds.
He's been struggling a lot lately, and part of that has to be motivation to reach out to Becker , who shares some similarities with the way Rune likes to play tennis. It will take a while to see the full effect of their cooperation, but this first impression was more than solid.
Former player Jimmy Connors talked about what he saw from their first few matches in the latest episode of the Advantage Connors podcast.

Holger Rune is hoping to have a similar success to what Boris Becker brought to Novak Djokovic when he coached him years ago.
Becker and Djokovic were a pretty good tandem, winning a couple of trophies together, and Rune hopes to see similar success. The surprise move to hire Becke r came out of nowhere, especially since Rune just recently split up with Patrick Mouratoglou.
That breakup made it seem like Rune was going back to his coach full-time , but it seems like he had already settled on Becker as somebody who is familiar to him. The German will join Rune in Basel, which will be their first official Atp event together, and ahead of it, the Dane spoke about the former legendary player.
It's great to learn from players like (Boris) and from Rafa (Nadal), Roger (Federer) and Novak. It would be good to steal a bit from what they did.

Holger Rune prepared in Monaco for the upcoming 2023 Stockholm Open , with Boris Becker being present at those practices.
Rune has had a really tough time with his tennis lately, losing the majority of his matches. His most recent win was over Felix Auger-Aliassime in Beijing , which didn't really start any kind of winning streak.
He lost in the next round and then got smashed in his Shanghai Masters debut, which didn't leave a good impression on anybody. Before coming to Stockholm, Rune had a good practice week in Monaco as Boris Becker was present .
Nobody really knew what that was about, as there were no reports about the former player joining Rune's team, but it seems like he did provide some input. Rune talked about it before his Stockholm Open match against Miomir Kecmanovic .
It was a really good week of training. I have known Boris for a long time.

John Cleese has urged the “mainstream press” to “check out” the allegations of innappropriate behavior against Dan Wootton, his future Gb News colleague.
In a tweet yesterday, the Fawlty Towers creator said the media’s failure to investigate the story will be “final proof of their complete corruption.” Cleese will soon start hosting a Gb News show, which he has previously joked will be for the “much neglected demographic” of viewers “who are completely out of touch.”
“If they [the mainstream press] give this the ‘Boris’s phone’ treatment, it is final proof of their complete corruption,” added Cleese on Twitter, as he retweeted an account promoting the investigation into Wootton.
In an article in The Byline Times earlier this week, Wootton, who hosts Gb News’ Dan Wootton Tonight and writes a column for the MailOnline, was accused of posing as a fictitious showbiz agent called Martin Branning and offering thousands of pounds...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the NCIS Season 20 finale “Black Sky.”] Sure, there’s a threat of a major attack on the U.S., but with one voicemail, that becomes the least interesting thing about the NCIS Season 20 finale. “Black Sky” sees Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) go undercover in prison to try to get more information out of Yuri about the impending terror attack that the team believes his father is behind. That’s easier said than done, especially once Yuri knows there’s an undercover agent there with him. That’s not enough to get Torres to agree to being pulled, despite Vance (Rocky Carroll) sending Parker (Gary Cole) to do just that. One of Yuri’s men, Lev, has Torres write down some basic information about himself for a background check — soon after the team had worried he hadn’t had enough time to memorize everything about his cover — and the muscle, Boris, is more...

Mutoid Man have announced their first album in six years, Mutants, which drops July 28th. The lead single “Call of the Void” can be heard now.
Not only is it the first new music in six years from the post-hardcore outfit, but it also marks the Mutoid Man debut of High on Fire bassist Jeff Matz, rounding out a veritable supergroup alongside Cave In’s Stephen Brodsky (vocals/guitar) and drummer Ben Koller of Converge fame.
The trio meld together splendidly on “Call of the Void” — a five-minute romp of mathy licks, mosh-inducing breakdowns, and shout-along vocal hooks. We’re hearing a little bit of every member’s past work here, from the more angular post-hardcore leanings of Converge and Cave In, to the brutal up-tempo charge of High on Fire.
The band also get props for arguably the most entertaining performance music video so far this year — directed by...

Last year, Shane Boris received two Oscar nominations for producing National Geographic’s “Fire of Love” and CNN Films’ “Navalny.” In March he garnered an Academy Award for his work on Daniel Roher’s “Navalny,” about anti-Putin freedom fighter Alexei Navalny. During a Hot Docs Industry talk, the producer spoke about a wide variety of topics, including his latest documentary, “King Coal,” what he’s looking for in a docu, and nonfiction’s current distribution landscape.
Boris made his first documentary “You’re Looking at Me Like I Live Here and I Don’t” in 2010. The film, which aired on PBS’s Independent Lens, follows Lee Gorewitz as she struggles to navigate the increasingly confused and confusing landscape of Alzheimers.
“That doc began as a fiction film,” Boris said. “But we went into the Alzheimer’s unit to scout our location, and the person that took us around was starting...

3Teeth have returned with a new song, “Merchant of the Void,” ahead of their as-yet-unnamed fourth studio album arriving in the near future via Century Media.
The single is an industrial metal banger from the band that has toured with the likes of Tool and Rammstein. Crushing metallic instrumentation is melded with pulsing synths and deep electronic beats, recalling key influences such as Rammstein and Nine Inch Nails. According to frontman and creative leader Alexis Mincolla, the smoldering track serves as a commentary on the current “self-destructive path” of humanity and its obsession with materialism.
“Amidst the numbing pulse of hypermodernity, the insatiable appetite of data commodification devours our sense of meaning,” commented Mincolla in a press announcement for the song. “The undead march of materialism eventually renders the human subject an automaton, desperately grasping for the ephemeral junk 2.0 to fill the abyss of existential emptiness. The self devolves into a mere echo,...

Sacred Bones labelmates Boris and Uniform have teamed up for a new collaborative album, Bright New Disease, arriving June 16th. Along with the LP announcement, the bands shared the lead single “You Are the Beginning.”
Given Boris and Uniform’s drone and industrial tendencies, respectively, “You Are the Beginning” is a surprisingly upbeat romp. A thrash riff — compliments of Boris — lies as the crux of the song, setting the foundation for the barked and belted vocals of Uniform’s Michael Berdan. From there, the bands ride out on a full-tilt hardcore/crossover-thrash section.
The song originated from Boris’ first day of studio sessions back in July 2020, at the onset of the pandemic. And as the title implies, “You Are the Beginning” was conceived as a potential album opener.
“At that time, we didn’t know when we would be able to resume concerts,” said Boris’ Atsuo in a press release,...

There’s a promising and even semi-adult comedy at the heart of “Tetris,” an otherwise corny action-adventure based on the real-life story of how the iconic 1980s computer and video game was licensed outside of Russia. Most of the plot of “Tetris” concerns the political maneuvering and corporate espionage required to smuggle “Tetris,” the iconic brick-laying puzzle game, out of Moscow and away from greedy businessmen.
The lead protagonist of “Tetris” (the movie) also happens to be its main hero, an uncomplicated leading man whose personal motives don’t matter so much as the vague and never credibly represented virtues of “Tetris” (the game). Meet Henk Rogers (Taron Egerton), a fast-talking Dutch-American salesman living and working in Tokyo. Henk needs to license “Tetris” to the Japanese gaming company Nintendo so that his family business, Bullet Proof Software, can survive. Henk also needs to sell “Tetris” to Nintendo so that he...

Curated by the IndieWire editorial team, Craft Considerations is a video platform for filmmakers to discuss how they applied their craft to a recent work we believe is worthy of awards consideration. For this edition, we look at how “The Fabelmans” screenwriter Tony Kushner collaborated with Steven Spielberg to tell a story that was deeply personal for both of them.
In 2005, screenwriter Tony Kushner was sitting with Steven Spielberg on the set of their first film together, “Munich.” It was the night shooting began, and Kushner casually asked Spielberg when he realized that he wanted to be a filmmaker. “He told me about the films he made as a little kid, and at some point he told me the story of the camping trip,” Kushner told IndieWire. That camping trip — a family outing where a young Spielberg discovered his mother was in love with his father’s best friend by...
