The question of the creature that fell from the sky, arose after the release of the first promos and trailers for the first season of The Rings of Power.
The sneak peek even showed the meteorite fall scene almost in its entirety: a bright ball of light crossed the entire sky, caught the eyes of all the main characters, and fell in Rhovanion.
There Are Many Hints in The Rings of Power Season 1 that The Stranger is Gandalf
The man was found by two Harfoots, the curious Nori and her more cautious friend Poppy. When the man climbed out of the hole left by the meteorite's fall, several things became clear: he possesses magic, but does not speak any language known to the Harfoots and cannot remember anything, including his name.

Even after Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 arrives, there will be more of Middle Earth to explore, particularly through the lens of Gollum’s perspective. Deadline unpacked where the franchise is heading with longtime collaborators Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to make more films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy work and the world founded on Peter Jackson’s original New Line trilogy of films, with one corresponding to each books.
“The Gollum/Sméagol character has always fascinated me because Gollum reflects the worst of human nature, whilst his Sméagol side is, arguably, quite sympathetic,” Jackson told Deadline. “I think he connects with readers and film audiences alike, because there’s a little bit of both of them in all of us. Prime Video loves burning its money on ambitious TV shows. Sometimes, it works; sometimes, it doesn’t. Rings of Power, the streamer’s adaptation of Tolkien’s iconic LotR prequel, flopped tremendously with Season 1, but it was still mildly interesting because of the whole “Who is Sauron?” mystery. But Season 2… Oh boy.
Season 2 decided to keep that idea but take it to some truly notorious levels of absurdity that clash with the serious dramatic undertone of the unfortunate saga.
Rings of Power Is a Fashion Comedy Now
The mystery of Sauron’s identity largely carried the otherwise disastrous Rings of Power Season 1 thanks to its suspense. Initial reports about Season 2 suggested that Season 2 would keep on the trend by adding another Sauron form, and that sounded like a lowkey good idea… Until we saw the execution in the recent trailer.

Exclusive: Since Warner Bros acquired rights to make more Middle-earth films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works and the canon established by New Line’s original trilogy, Peter Jackson and his Lord of the Rings cohorts Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens hovered over the proceedings for a long time, as they mulled how to return, and much to involve themselves into another deep dive into Tolkien mythology.
As a business proposition, the allure is easy to understand: the two trilogies – the six Lotr and The Hobbit films — generated nearly $6 billion in worldwide grosses and enough Oscar gold to fill the lair of the dragon Smaug from 2012’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Even if some people are so hurt by the first season of Rings of Power that they are unlikely to come back for the second, even if it is much better, there is one reason to at least watch the trailer: the memes.
As the Internet learned a while ago, the best trauma response is humor, so no matter how good or bad the second season is going to be, the fans of the universe are ready to greet it with big smiles on their faces.
“Who knew that the origin of Elves growing long hair actually started with Sauron and his wig!” – @ravenlord4
As we all learned from the first season of Rings of Powers, Amazon Prime Video has its own take on J.R.R. Tolkien's lore. Sometimes it's downright wrong, but in this case, we might even get behind it!

The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.
The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the Lotr prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.
By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.
Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised...

5 Best Villains from The Lord of the Rings - Main Image
What should have been a nice, simple story of good and evil clashing in The Lord of the Rings has been made far more compelling than it has any right to be, thanks to its memorable cast of villains.
This series of films, adapted from the timeless books by J.R.R. Tolkien, serves as a cautionary tale that details the consequences of absolute corruption. Here is how the best villains from The Lord of the Rings poisoned Middle-Earth with their vile intentions.
5. Grima Wormtongue
If there is one word to describe Grima Wormtongue for a first impression, it is deceptive. This Rohirrim served as King Theoden's adviser when Rohan was vulnerable. Saruman's words and influence came through Wormtongue, which weakened the entire Kingdom of Rohan.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a prequel to the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy, started airing on Prime Video in 2022. The series got a lot of flak from fans because of poor writing as well as because of the speed at which the story unfolded. Despite the rash of projects set in the world of "The Lord of the Rings" that have come to our attention lately -- a steadily-growing list that includes multiple upcoming movies, one streaming series, and even video games -- fans of "The Rings of Power" have had no choice but to sit on their hands for quite some time now. Season 1 of the Prime Video series came to an end back in October of 2022, leaving viewers on some pretty significant cliffhangers. The unassuming Southlander Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) had been unmasked as the Dark Lord Sauron himself (though only after helping create the three elven rings), our heroes were left scattered in the aftermath of a bloody battle with an army of orcs, and we all witnessed the birth of Mordor and Mount Doom itself in one of the final scenes.

The first trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 has been debuted (via SFFGazette.com), teasing the ramifications of Sauron's return to Middle-earth.
The Dark Lord is in disguise after sowing discord in the elven kingdom of Eregion by manipulating Celebrimbor into forging the show's titular rings of power. We saw three of them in the season 1 finale, though Sauron still has plenty of work to do: remember, there are seven rings for the Dwarves, nine for mortal men, and his own, secret "One Ring to Rule Them All."
There are plenty of exciting teases throughout this trailer, including a glimpse of the Stranger wielding a wooden staff. While not confirmed, all signs point to him being a young Gandalf and it looks like his story will remain key to The Rings of Power.
Elsewhere, you'll spot Mount Doom, a Great Eagle, and even...

However, everything almost fell apart due to the filmmaker’s ambitious vision for the climactic Battle of Helm’s Deep in the 2002 film The Two Towers. The arduous filming process took its toll, not only on the filmmaker himself but also on the cast, including Viggo Mortensen, who later admitted that although he loved the sequence, he hated filming it.

Fresh off the news that Warner Bros is re-teaming with Peter Jackson and Andy Serkis for their Gollum spin-off, comes Prime Video’s announcement of the return of their own ambitious Lord of the Rings series, The Rings of Power. The new trailer teases the return of Charlie Vickers’s Sauron, sporting a new look, with the season making its debut on August 29th.
Despite being the most ambitious series in Prime Video’s history, it’s worth noting that the first season got a rather middling reception from fans. Whether or not the show was seen as a success for Prime ended up being a matter of perspective, with the streamer boasting that it had the streamer’s biggest premiere ever. However, a report in the Hollywood Reporter revealed that the series was only finished by 37% of it’s initial U.S viewers, which is a troubling statistic. Truth be told,...

Whether you liked it or not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a hit series for Amazon, and it was expected that the series would be renewed for a second season. The series explored the era of Tolkien’s world before the main series, as well as the story of The Hobbit, expanding the universe we’ve already explored earlier. Now, some of the fans weren’t happy with the series in general, but the series has done fairly well and we are now waiting to see where it heads in the upcoming season. The second season will premiere later this year, and Amazon is slowly heating up for the upcoming premiere, which is what we are going to do with this report as well.

A lot of hype surrounded the debut of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Prime Video. The series is reportedly the most expensive in history (when you include the cost of the rights and all that), and it’s a new story set in the world of Tolkien’s classic fantasy series. And the result was, well…fine. It had a lot of viewers and was seemingly a hit for Prime Video, but it didn’t have the same sort of excitement that the “Game of Thrones” prequel did.

Ready your elven forge. Because after what seems like a Fifth Age since our last visit to Middle-earth, Prime Video has just dropped the first trailer for The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season 2. The first batch of episodes ended with chaos reigning. The first rings of power had been forged, the Dark Lord had been revealed and the fate of elves, dwarves and men hung in the balance as Mount Doom erupted for the first time and Mordor began to teem with evil. So things are going just fabulously as we rejoin Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and the rest of the show’s sprawling line-up when it returns on 29 August. As you can see from the trailer, Sauron has returned and is now sporting a new, alluring form as he continues to weave his influence among the races of Middle-earth, as well as giving...

Today brings us some big news for the most annoying people you know. Seemingly out of nowhere, "The Lord of the Rings" has become a hot commodity once again between the recent announcement of the "Hunt for Gollum" spin-off/prequel movie, this year's upcoming animated effort titled "The War of the Rohirrim," and, of course, the ongoing television show that's caused no controversy or divided opinions whatsoever known as "The Rings of Power."
Set thousands of years prior to the events of "The Fellowship of the Ring" during the period known as the Second Age, season 1 of the wildly expensive streaming series was a solid and enjoyable enough experience that attempted to reach the same heights as Peter Jackson's original trilogy. It may not have become the instant "Game of Thrones"-sized cultural juggernaut that Prime Video was likely hoping for -- it's worth noting that even the hit...

“Prepare yourselves.”
That’s what a sword weilding Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) declares to Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and her other warrior companions in the just released teaser trailer for Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – see below:
Season 2 of the J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation is coming on August 29, and “prepare yourselves” just might be an understatement.
One word: Sauron. Another word: Unleashed.
Much grittier and darker than most of Season 1, the just released peek at Season 2 also gives a brief look at the Charlie Vicker’s portrayed Mordor master’s Dark Tower. As well, there’s some new rings and their creation in there too, and one Hell of an explosion that could rival Mount Doom’s big blow-up in Season 1. Or, as Khazad-dûm Prince Durin (Owain Arthur) puts it in said minute-long teaser: “an evil, ancient and powerful has returned” — as you can see above.

It's hard to believe that it's been over 20 years since Peter Jackson's unbelievable adaptation of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy hit theaters (which you can celebrate with the extended editions of "Lord of the Rings" returning to theaters in 4K this summer), but here we are, and the fantasy film series is still one of the greatest trilogies of all time. Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

The Lord of the Rings franchise is a classic lore of good vs evil which follows heroes who embark on a perilous quest to save the world from darkness. It is all thanks to J.R.R. Tolkien’s creativity that curated a detailed world with diverse mythologies. While the novel series gained quite a bit of attention, it is Peter Jackson who put the stories in the cinematic format to reach wider audiences.

Discovery recently announced the news that we'll be returning to Middle-earth in a new movie about Gollum, everybody's favorite fish-eating gremlin, tentatively titled "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum." A new Lord of the Rings spin-off movie has been announced, and it’s getting the old gang back together; the producers/writers of both film trilogies, Peter Jackson, Phillipa Boyens, and Fran Walsh will be producing once more, and directing duties will be taken over from Jackson by Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in both trilogies and who was also second unit director on The Hobbit films. Since then, he has directed three movies so he is well prepared to take on this one.
Serkis will also star in his original role of Smeagol/Gollum, and the film is currently tentatively titled The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. If that title means what we think it means, it could be a really exciting prospect.
The (Presumed) Story

We got confirmation that more live-action movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy adventure novels, The Lord of the Rings, were officially in-development last year, and it's now been announced that the first film will hit theaters in 2026 - with Andy Serkis set to direct and reprise the role of Gollum!
Original Lotr trilogy director Peter Jackson and his writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are also on board as producers, and “will be involved every step of the way” according to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
"Lord of the Rings is one of the most successful and revered franchises in history and presents a significant opportunity for theatrical business,” added the Wbd boss.

Warner Bros. Discovery added two million direct-to-consumer subscribers in Q1 and it didn’t even have Anduril, Flame of the West to rally its following. Yet.
As part of the quarterly earnings call this morning, Wbd CEO David Zaslav let us gaze into his palantir and see a bit of the future his development execs have planned for future films set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. First up, and planned for a 2026 release, “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,” directed by Andy Serkis, who shot to fame playing the title character himself. Warner Bros. does caveat that “The Hunt for Gollum” is a working title.
Serkis has been one of the leading pioneers of motion-capture technology with his performance of the split-personality villain, one of the most popular characters of the entire saga powered by the actor’s unique, squeaky-gravelly voice and Tolkien’s exceptional writing, adapted...
