Swiss actor, director and photographer Vincent Perez (The Crow: City of Angels, Queen of the Damned, Cyrano de Bergerac) is screening his latest, The Edge of the Blade, a period piece about dueling and honor, in the Horizons section of the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
His fourth feature as a director is set in Paris in 1887, when duels were still common despite being prohibited by law. Idris Elba may jump into action in the new TV series “Hijack”, but in real life, that wouldn’t be the case.
The actor — who plays Sam Nelson in the Apple TV+ thriller — spoke to Et Canada’s Jed Tavernier at the London, U.K. premiere, with the host questioning whether he’d be on hand to help in a real-life hijacking scenario, like his character.

London, April 28 (Ians) Newcastle United solidified their position for a top-four finish in the Premier League while Tottenham Hotspur staged a comeback to draw 2-2 at home against Manchester United in the latest action in the top-flight English league.
Newcastle registered a convincing 4-1 win away at Everton on Thursday night, which was never in question after Callum Wilson put them ahead in the 28th minute.
Everton’s main issue this season has been a lack of goals, and despite 13 shots at the goal, they failed to find the net until Joelinton and Wilson’s second of the game put Newcastle 3-0 up in the second half, reports Xinhua.
Dwight McNeil’s goal in the 80th minute gave Everton hope, but it only lasted for a minute before Jacob Murphy added Newcastle’s fourth, leaving Everton second from the bottom ahead of Monday’s crucial game away at Leicester City.

“Did you think that first episode that this would span over 20 seasons?” Tavernier asked.
“Man, Jed, I’ll tell you, I honestly didn’t,” Cannon admitted. “I just, I created that show to give my friends jobs, because I was off doing movies and music. And I just thought it was something cool to do, and for it to have turned into the hallmark brand that it is… And like you said, 20 seasons?”
He added, “It’s a blessing.”

Nick Cannon had a few things to say when asked for parenting advice while chatting to Et Canada’s Jed Tavernier.
The father of 12 was asked what kind of a dad he is during his upcoming “One-on-One” special, admitting: “Definitely a disciplinarian, but it’s all out of respect and love. I constantly let my children know how much I love them.
“And I’m a big kid! So I’m probably the cool dad because I’m probably more mischievous and, you know, probably just as wild as they are. But I’m definitely the stern parent.”
Tavernier then questioned whether he had any advice for new dads or anyone wanting to become a parent, to which he replied, “Make sure your partner is on the same frequency as you. Especially in a co-parenting situation, you want to be aligned… similar values, similar ideas on how to raise a child.

London, April 2 (Ians) Manchester City kept their calm after falling behind, to roar back and beat Liverpool 4-1 in a result that very much keeps them in the race for the Premier League title.
Although Mohamed Salah poached a goal for Liverpool in the 17th minute, Julian Alvarez, who was in the side for injured Erling Haaland, levelled 10 minutes later and then helped Riyad Mahrez set up Kevin de Bruyne to put City ahead in the first minute of the second half.
Ilkay Gundogan then put the result beyond doubt when he made it 3-1 in the 53rd minute after Alvarez’s shot had been blocked and the impressive Jack Grealish got the goal he deserved in the 74th minute after exchanging passes with De Bruyne.
“When we conceded the goal, we were playing really well. Of course, they are always a threat in the transitions, but we played really well in all departments.

Shania Twain may be a huge star, but at home she’s just mom to her 21-year-old son Eja.
The country superstar chats to Et Canada’s Jedson Tavernier for a new special, with her recalling a special moment with Eja when he asked where all her accolades were kept.
Twain reveals, “None of my awards were out and my son just said, this is not that long ago, so he’s like a teenager… he’s like, ‘Mom, where are all your awards?’
“They’re in the archives, which is a small room in the basement. Stored like respectfully, but you know, not on display. He goes ‘well, can’t we just at least put the Grammys up? So we got the Grammys, we put them on the shelf, he’s like ‘mom, don’t you want to see them? Aren’t you proud of these? You’ve earned these.

The takeover began at Toronto’s Clarkson Station, where the evening’s emcee, Et Canada’s own Jedson Tavernier, announced to passengers that they were now aboard the most lit Raptors pre-game party in town, as free swag and snacks were handed out.

The tough guys in Yves Boisset’s crime drama answer revenge with revenge, and Michel Bouquet’s rogue cop commits outrageous acts of lawlessness to nail his partner’s killer. The French censors were up at arms over Boisset’s slight to police honor, yet the subject isn’t corruption — everything is ‘honor and decency.’ A fine gallery of Gallic thugs fills out the cast; both they and the attitude toward law and order are a step beyond Jean-Pierre Melville, but not an improvement. With standout work from Michel Constantin, Théo Sarapo, Henri Garcin and Bernard Fresson.
