(New York City) Media Blasters, Inc. and Fever Dreams, LLC. proudly announces the North American DVD premiere of director Lee Gordon Demarbre's Smash Cut starring Sasha Grey in her first mainstream feature since her break-through performance in Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience. Smash Cut will debut on the Shriek Show label's new 'Fresh Meat' imprint and ravage retail shelves everywhere on March 23rd.
Smash Cut stars Sasha Grey as television news celebrity April Carson who hires private investigator Isaac Beaumonde (Jesse Buck) to help find her missing sister, a stripper known as Gigi Spot (Jennilee Murray). Following a bloodstained trail, Carson goes undercover and auditions for a role in a low budget horror movie. Soon, she shockingly discovers that the movie's director, Able Whitman (David Hess), is not only the killer but that he has utilized her sister's body parts to pump up the 'realism' for his new production!

It’s hard to criticize a film like ‘Smash Cut,’ particularly if you’re interests don’t mesh with those of the filmmaker. For all intents and purposes, the film is critic-proof, as director Lee Demarbre pulls off exactly what he set out to make, an homage piece to Herschell Gordon Lewis. A low budget nod to the shock and schlock of Lewis, Demarbre’s film acts as both horror and comedy, though, when all is said and done, it’s pretty much all comedy.
At the center of ‘Smash Cut’ is low-budget, horror filmmaker, Abel Whitman, played with a presence by David Hess. He’s the kind of filmmaker who views his works as art, though most believe he “makes Ed Wood look like Orson Welles.” It isn’t until a fateful night when Abel gets into a violent accident with a local stripper that he realizes the special...

Wrong Turn 3 director Declan O’Brien will be previewing his new Fox DVD splatter sequel at the fast-approaching East Coast edition of Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, to be held June 5-7 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets) in New York City. O’Brien (pictured below with friend), the director of the Sci Fi Channel original movies Rock Monster, Monster Ark and Cyclops, will debut exclusive clips from Wrong Turn 3 (about another group of lost travelers facing off against inbred hillbilly maniacs) at the convention on Sunday.
In addition to his directing chores, O’Brien has also scripted Harpies, The Snake King and Savage Planet for Sci Fi. Stop by this site again over the next couple of days as we begin posting the full schedules (auditorium panels and film programs) for the Fango show.

We’ve been patiently awaiting a release date and proper trailer for Lee Demarbre’s Smash Cut, a tribute to the films of Herschel Gordon Lewis, for about a year now and while director Demarbre has actually had time to shoot a complete other feature while this one has been in post, we’re now finally seeing some activity in the form of new stills.
Smash Cut is the dizzying portrayal of Able Whitman, a trouble filmmaker losing his mind in an extraordinary way.
After his latest “serious” film is met with gales of laughter, Able decides to drown his sorrows at a local strip club—where he meets dancer Gigi Spot. Minutes later, he’s convinced the honey dripping sex-pot to star in his next project. Minutes after that, he’s killed her in a drunk driving accident. Needing to dispose of the body, Able stumbles upon the one...
