At MipTV on Tuesday, the senior management of new public broadcaster TVMonaco revealed further details about the channel, which will launch on Sept. 1.
The channel executives present at the event at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes included its CEO Salim Zeghdar, deputy CEO Nathalie Biancolli, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, president, and Virginie Lavagna, general secretary.
The channel will be 100% owned by the Monegasque state. Revenue will come from advertising, and from selling the shows it produces. The budget for content for the first three months will be Euros 15 million, after which there will be a budget set for 2024.
The channel will include live news and sports coverage, and then recorded shows for the rest of the time. The shows it produces will initially be all unscripted, but it has the intention to add scripted shows in about 12-18 months’ time.

As Italy’s film and TV industries start to bounce back from the pandemic with a verve reminiscent of the country’s postwar economic boom, the fourth edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival is pulling out all the stops to support this effort.

MGM International TV Productions is partnering with Make It Happen Studio (“No Second Chance”) and pubcaster France Televisions for “The Reunion,” a high-profile English-language series adapted from Guillaume Musso’s bestselling novel “La Jeune Fille et la Nuit.”
“The Reunion” is written by Marston Bloom and based on Musso’s novel, which revolves around a glamorous high school girl who went missing 25 years ago in the French Riviera, and three friends bound by a tragic secret. Production is set to start next week on pan-European TV series “Survivors,” the latest project commissioned by the partnership known as The Alliance between leading European public broadcasters to counter the growing power of Netflix and other streamers.
The plan is for cameras to start rolling in Genoa on Oct. 21 on the series revolving around a sailboat that gets destroyed in a fierce storm and disappears. After a year the wreck is recovered with seven survivors aboard, some of whom seem to be hiding a terrible secret. Each episode follows the complex events related to their return.
The start of principal photography on “Survivors” was announced on Friday during Rome’s Mia market.

Banijay Rights has acquired worldwide sales to the thriller mini-series “Flight MH370” which is based on the real-life mystery surrounding the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines flight which vanished in the depths of the Indian Ocean, carrying 239 passengers.
Produced by Nora Melhli (“The Tunnel”)’s new outfit Alef One, the six-part drama has been ordered by the French public broadcaster France Televisions.
The predominantly English-langauge show is based on a novel by Ghyslain Wattrelos, who lost his wife and two of his three children in the tragedy in 2014, and another book by the investigative journalist Florence de Changy.
The show is driven by a strong creative team, including the showrunner Gilles Bannier (“Spiral”), and writers Tim Loan (“Versailles”) and Laurent Mercier (“Eden”). Nadine Nohr, whose credits include “The Bridge” and “Broadchurch” is executive producing alongside Melhli.
