"Hell yeah. Who wouldn't wanna fight Conor? You get paid." "I'll knock him out!" Of course, you remember the moment -- Conor turned to Jeremy after a routine call-out and famously said, "Who the fook is that guy?!" Stephens is clearly looking for some revenge.

According to Ufc President Dana White, the promotion could not be happier with their investment in Phil “Cm Punk” Brooks, the former WWE champion currently working to make the switch to mixed martial artist.
Punk, who was signed by the Ufc in December, has been training under the highly respected Duke Rufous at Rufousport in Milwaukee, and recently moved to the city full time to be closer to his training camp.
Speaking to TMZ, White had a lot of say on the subject of Punk (or is it Brooks? Thanks to Reebok, that’s a bit unclear at the moment).
First of all, let me start by saying this: the respect that this guy has earned from his team, his coaches…he’s a dog, man. He actually just moved to Milwaukee so he can be closer to training. He’s committed to this thing, the guy’s...

The Brock Lesnar lottery talk continues to swirl as we approach 2015, and now Scott Coker has confirmed that Bellator Mma have reached out to the WWE champion, who remains under contract with the pro wrestling giant until after Wrestlemania 31. According to Coker, who spoke to Mma Fighting about pursuing Lesnar, there have been no serious talks, but Bellator have gone about “saying hello” to the former Ufc heavyweight champion. As a result;

Ufc 181 was the promotion’s biggest, and most successful, card since Ufc 175 back in the summer, which coincidentally also featured two title fights (Chris Weidman taking on Lyoto Machida, and Ronda Rousey meeting Alexis Davis). With welterweight champion Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler II as the main event, and lightweight champion Anthony Pettis vs. Gilbert Melendez as the co-main event, you already had serious star power.
Add in Travis Browne vs. Brendan Schaub, a returning Todd Duffee, and Urijah Faber on the preliminary card, and you had enough big names to generate some serious interest.
Without question, top to bottom, Ufc 181 was a success, and the Ufc can breathe easy: entering into their key end-of-the-year events (the Tuf 20 finale, Ufc on Fox 13, and Ufc 182 in early January), they’ve building momentum. Ufc Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks has discussed the possibility of rematching with Mma legend Georges St-Pierre. Speaking at a media luncheon this week, Hendricks stated “It could be dangerous for him to come back [and fight me].”
The first time the two men fought, at Ufc 167 in November 2013, St-Pierre won a very close decision. Many fans booed the result, as they felt that Hendriks had done enough to win over five rounds. The old saying “never leave it in the hands of the judges” comes to mind.
St-Pierre then disappeared from the sport, vacating the Welterweight title. As a result, Hendricks was able to fight for the vacant title against Robbie Lawler at Ufc 171 in March of this year. Hendricks won that fight, becoming the champion in a decision victory.
Hendricks and Lawler will rematch this weekend at Ufc 181, and then the spectre of Gsp could end up revealing itself.

December’s first event in Ufc land marks the start of an exciting string of events for the promotion. After suffering through several cards decimated due to injury, the Ufc has a number of stacked events ready to go, and the first of those, Ufc 181 (taking place Saturday, December 6th in North America – the promo shot above is for the Australian market), has managed to avoid any major losses to the injury bug with just a week to go before the event.
That’s great news for some simple reason: fight week generally sees fighters scaling back in their training. Fight camps are wrapped up. There’s still the matter of weight cuts, and fluke illness, but for the most part, we should see the majority of fighters make it to the octagon Saturday night. And yes, before you ask, we are looking for a large chunk of wood to knock on right now,...

Ufc champ Anthony Pettis is a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo. Vladimir Putin is a 9th. So, who would win in a street fight? Don't bet on red. Pettis -- who's fighting Gilbert Melendez at Ufc 181 this weekend -- was out in NYC this week when he told us the 6 degrees of martial arts separation wouldn't matter if push ever came to shove. Last night saw the excellent two-hour premiere of the new season of The Ultimate Fighter. Subtitled A Champion Will Be Crowned, this new season pits 16 of the best 115-pound women in the world in a tournament, with the winner becoming the first ever Ufc women’s strawweight champion. Last night’s premiere featured one of the best fights the show has ever seen, a three-round tilt between Randa Markos and Tecia Torres. Despite being seeded well above her opponent, Torres fell to Markos’ crafty striking and superior grappling, giving the show the first of what will probably be many upsets and classic moments.

We made a couple of absolutely huge discoveries Saturday night – not the least of which is that Benson Henderson is human!
The main event of Ufc Fight Night 49 – Benson Henderson vs. Rafael dos Anjos – was a fight that fans and media pundits (including WhatCulture) began calling for after Henderson’s last outing against Rustam Khabilov. Thing is, most of us assumed that this would be another solid win for Benson Henderon. Rafael dos Anjos is a great fighter without question, but no one really expected him to upset Henderson, a man who hadn’t lost to anyone not named Anthony Pettis in years. The going logic was that Henderson would beat Dos Anjos, lock horns with maybe one more contender between now and the December bout champ Pettis has with Gilbert Melendez, and then fight for the title in early 2015.
It appears that dos Anjos, however, wasn’t told about...

The second of two events in a single day, Ufc Fight Night: Henderson vs. dos Anjos comes to you live August 23rd from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The main event of Ufc Fight Night 49, as it is numerically known, is potentially a number one contender’s match, as a win for Henderson would make it three in a row over top tier competition for him since losing his belt to Anthony Pettis last summer. Pettis, who hasn’t fought since winning the strap due to injury and filming The Ultimate Fighter 20, is fighting Gilbert Melendez this December but things are wide open after that, and while a third match between Pettis and Henderson might be a hard sell with Henderson being down 0-2 in their series, there’s little question that he would deserve it.

For the first time in a long while, the Ufc has given us a reason to look forward to a new season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Recent seasons have been anything but great, with the exception of Tuf 17 (the Uriah Hall/Kelvin Gastelum season), which took everyone by surprise, and the women’s bantamweight half of Tuf 18.
Everything else from, say, Tuf 15 to Tuf 19 was abysmal, especially Tuf Live (season 15), Tuf 16 (the Colton Smith season), and Tuf 19 (the forgettable recent season that even Dana White panned, though it did wind up producing a couple of good fights at the finale).
Well, now we can look forward to Tuf again, because The Ultimate Fighter 20 will feature a brand new division, and serve as a tournament to declare the first ever Ufc women’s strawweight champion – something that should breathe new life into the reality series, which was quickly going stale.

Despite an out-of-competition drug test failure in February that Belfort admitted to just recently via an Instagram post, and despite a past Ped failure, the Nsac has, in its wisdom, granted the two-time offender a license to fight in the heart of Mma land, Nevada. The Nsac is considered the most influential, powerful athletic commission in North America (and likely the world), so this opens the door for Belfort to fight just about anywhere.
Immediately after the Nsac ruling, Belfort was announced in a fight with Chris Weidman at Ufc 181 in December, a card that already has lightweight champ Anthony Pettis taking on Gilbert Melendez.
Should they have gone this route, however? Should the Nsac have overlooked two past failures?
Let me preface this by saying that I love watching Belfort fight. He’s fantastic in the cage. His fights are always exciting.

It’s out with the old, in with the new over at Bellator this Summer, as founder Bjorn Rebney has been cut loose, and Strikeforce founder Scott Coker has been brought in to replace him. Coker has a lot of goodwill in the Mma world with both fans and fighters from his Strikeforce days. Originally a kickboxing promotion, Strikeforce got into the Mma game in 2006 and quickly became the number two promotion in the world, with fights airing live on Showtime. With a solid TV deal behind him, Coker handed out lucrative contracts to the likes of Jake Shields, Dan Henderson, Gilbert Melendez, Nick Diaz, Josh Barnett, Fabricio Werdum, Robbie Lawler, Nate Marquardt, Andrei Arlovski, Alistair Overeem, and most importantly, Fedor Emelianenko.

The Ufc has confirmed two pivotal fights for this coming August, which will have title implications for the lightweight and middleweight divisions.
First up, on August 2nd, at Ufc 176 in Los Angeles, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi, who just this May choked out Mark Munoz at Ufc Fight Night: Munoz vs. Mousasi, will face off against former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who is undefeated in the Ufc, and hasn’t lost since losing his Strikeforce belt to another possible title contender, Luke Rockhold, in 2011.
The middleweight bout is slotted to be the co-main event of the evening. Both men are potential title challengers at the 185lb class.
On August 23rd meanwhile, Benson Henderson, coming off a win against Rustam Khabilov earlier this month, will headline the Ufc’s Fight Night card in Tulsa, Oklahoma, against Rafael dos Anjos, who also scored a key win on the Henderson vs.

Benson “Smooth” Henderson continued to roll over anyone not named “Anthony Pettis” at Ufc Fight Night 42 Saturday.
In the main event of last night’s Ufc Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov, former lightweight champ Benson “Smooth” Henderson faced off against Russian born sambo fighter Rustan Khabilov in a fight that showed the smooth one deserves to stay in the title mix at 155, while original Ultimate Fighter Diego “The Dream” Sanchez attempted to bring back his “Nightmare” persona for a home town brawl against Ross Pearson, earning a controversial split decision in the co-headling fight.
Ufc Fight Night 42 saw the main card open with a Bantamweight scrap between Bryan Caraway and Érik Pérez. Now that Strikeforce has finally closed its doors, parent company Zuffa can officially announce the full list of fighters that have been brought over to the top-level promotion, the Ufc. The introduction of these fighters, mainly in the Mw, Ww, and Lw division, gives added life and excitement to a promotion putting on more events and more fights each year, particularly with the massive Fox deal. In truth, several notable Strikeforce fighters have already made the transition over to the Ufc over the last year, including Alistair Overeem and Ronda Rousey.

The Ufc has announced on Twitter today two huge match-ups to the upcoming Ufc on Fox 7 card on April 20, 2013 in San Jose, California.
The first is a thrilling unification match for the Ufc and Strikeforce Lightweight championships between the Ufc’s champion Benson Henderson (18-2) and the newly incoming Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez (21-2). Bendo is currently the #1 ranked Lw in the world with Gilbert Melendez ranked #2 as Frankie Edgar (14-3-1) departs the division to face Jose Aldo (21-1) at Featherweight. Even more enticing is that both fighters are ranked on the P4P list, as well. Benson is ranked #5 and Melendez is #8.

When someone says “no comment” it can mean many things. It can mean that the person can’t comment at this time due to contracts or legal measures. It can mean someone has to prepare a proper statement. But in the case of Zuffa’s “no comment” on the status of Strikeforce, it can mean that the rumors of the organization ending might be true.
The injury bug has hit the Mma world hard in the past few months. Dan Henderson’s injury caused the eventual cancellation of Ufc 151. Anderson Silva had to step up and save Ufc 153 after Jose Aldo was injured. Several fighters have been removed from cards recently. Ufc has been scrambling to fill spots in fight cards all year. Strikeforce- owned by Ufc parent company Zuffa- has had worse luck in these situations. An injury to Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez caused his title fight at Strikeforce: Melendez vs.

Now this is getting a bit ridiculous.
Last minute injuries have begun to take their toll on the sport of mixed martial arts. The Ufc was forced to cancel their first event ever at Ufc 151 due to Dan Henderson’s eleventh hour injury earlier this month. Ufc 153, which is scheduled to take place in Brazilon October 13th, was totally ravaged due to injuries sustained by featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Ufc star Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
Strikeforce showed that it was not immune to the rampant injury bug either as news broke out last week that Frank Mir was forced to pull out of his heavyweight headline against Daniel Cormier on November 3rd.
Unfortunately for fans, the plague is not over yet as Strikeforce just released a statement indicating that Gilbert Melendez is also hurt and will not be able to defend his title on Saturday, September 29th in Sacramento.
