Poor Howie Mandel must be in a state of mourning following the comedy bloodbath on Monday’s episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” Only two stand-up comedians were still in the competition as of the semi-finals: “Agt” Season 14 finalist Ryan Niemiller and Season 9 “Australia’s Got Talent” semi-finalist JJ Pantano. Both were axed by the controversial superfans. As the panel’s requisite comedian, Mandel is often seen fighting for funny men and women, but he had no control over these delegates from all 50 states who hold all the power on “The Champions.”

Besides Ryan and JJ, a third stand-up comedian was asked back to compete on “The Champions”: Dan Naturman from “Agt” Season 9. He was eliminated in the first round after being X’ed by Simon Cowell, who Dan accused of not understanding anything about comedy.

Episode five of season two of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” marked the semi-final stage of this year’s competition, featuring the 12 acts that advanced from the previous round based on either the Superfan vote or the Judges’ vote. From the group, the four acts to perform tonight that had earned the Judges’ vote were singer, dancer and accordion player Hans, dog tricks act Alexa Lauenberger and comedians JJ Pantano and Ryan Niemiller.
The other eight acts were voted through by the Superfans. They were: three acrobatic acts Duo Transcend, Sandou Trio Russian Bar and Duo Destiny, two magicians Dania Diaz and Marc Spelmann, and then singer Marcelito Pomoy, violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa and contortionist Strauss Serpent.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions kicked off its Season 2 semifinals on Monday, ultimately eliminating half of the show’s remaining 12 acts. But before we get to the results, let’s break down this week’s dirty dozen…
JJ Pantano | I still don’t understand the appeal of this seven-year-old insult comic, and the tiny Australian bully did nothing to change my mind with his obnoxious semifinals routine. Were his jokes about Heidi Klum dating younger men supposed to be funny? Or his uninspired belittling of Alesha Dixon? I’m honestly at a loss. I know I’m not supposed to make fun of children,...

Among the 40 returning acts on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” Season 2 are eight special novelty acts that don’t fit any specific genre. There are stand-up comedians like Dan Naturman, JJ Pantano and Ryan Niemiller, dog acts like Christian & Percy and Alexa Lauenburger, quirky singers like Puddles Pity Party and Hans, and a jittery crossbow performer, Ben Blaque. In our photo gallery below, we rank these eight silly variety acts from worst to best. Does our #1 pick surprise you, “Agt” fans?
As viewers of “America’s Got Talent,” we know that it doesn’t take achieving the extraordinary to become a “champion.” The best of the best on “Agt” come from all walks of life and many shades of talent. Among those shades are the performers we consider silly. “Silly” in the sense that they excite our senses in a different way than the perfectly pitched singers or impeccably choreographed dancers do.

Can Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel please be the next two judges booted from America’s Got Talent? After Monday’s episode of The Champions, which set the stage for next week’s semifinals, I’m not sure either one of them knows the meaning of the word anymore.
My frustration — which I imagine will be shared by many — comes from the final elimination of the night, the dreaded “judges’ choice.” This week, the panel’s options included Brian King Joseph, an exceptional violinist whose neuropathy will someday leave him paralyzed; Christian and Percy, a human-dog act that exemplifies strength, dedication and companionship; and JJ Pantano,...

Since 2006, NBC’s reality TV juggernaut “America’s Got Talent” has kept things fresh by constantly reinvigorating its judging panel. The original trio of judges — Piers Morgan, David Hasselhoff and Brandy Norwood — only lasted one season as a group before Norwood was replaced by Sharon Osbourne. Producer Simon Cowell officially joined the panel in 2016, while the longest-running “Agt” personality of all time is Howie Mandel, who first popped up in 2009. In all a whopping 12 celebrities have sat in the judges’ chairs on both the main show and spinoff series “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” Tour our photo gallery above in which we rank all of them from worst to best, including new judge Alesha Dixon.

While fans of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” are still upset with Simon Cowell for stealing Howie Mandel‘s Golden Buzzer, they at least agree on one thing: the judges made the right decision to save Ryan Niemiller in Episode 2. The stand-up comedian ended up as one of the superfans‘ third, fourth or fifth place acts along with Broadway singer Luke Islam and escape artist Spencer Horsman, which meant it was up to the judges to save one of them them. In a rare unanimous vote, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Alesha Dixon all agreed to send Ryan through to the semi-finals; Howie Mandel‘s vote wasn’t televised but he likely chose Ryan as well since he’s a huge fan of comedians.

Another week of America’s Got Talent: The Champions brought another series of questionable decisions made by the judges.
Howie Mandel was in possession of this week’s Golden Buzzer, and while I don’t blindly agree with every decision he makes (Hans!!!), I still believe in his right to choose. Sadly, Simon Cowell took that right from him midway through Monday’s episode, reaching across the table and slamming his hand down on the Golden Buzzer in support of — wait for it — Boogie Storm.

As one of the only comedians cast in Season 2 of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” Ryan Niemiller knows he has to do his best to stand out. “America’s Got Talent” viewers are heartbroken. Even though their front-runner to win Season 14, blind autistic singer Kodi Lee, wound up taking home the $1 million prize during Wednesday’s finale, things didn’t go according to plan for Indian dance crew V.Unbeatable. The inspirational acrobatic act was predicted to be the runners-up to Kodi, but instead ended up coming in fourth place. Singer Kodi Lee won “Agt” over choral group Detroit Youth Choir in one of the closest votes ever when the final results were revealed on Wednesday’s episode. Our “America’s Got Talent” winner predictions had expected this to be a tight race between Kodi and Emanne Beasha, the little girl with the big voice. But she did not even make the top 5.
That 10-year-old opera singer Emanne Beasha lost “Agt” was a shock. Perhaps “America’s Got Talent” viewers did not want another young girl to win again so soon after the back-to-back wins by two 12-year olds in 2017 (ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer) and 2016 (singer Grace VanderWaal).

Child violinist Tyler Butler-Figueroa returned to the “America’s Got Talent” stage Tuesday night for his last chance at impressing America before the Season 14 finale. The 11-year-old took on a cover of Destiny’s Child‘s “Survivor” as a way to reference his own battles with cancer, and judge Simon Cowell made special mention of how Beyonce personally cleared the song for use on NBC’s reality TV show. Do you think Tyler will join the “Agt” winners list? Watch the performance video above, read the judges’ comments below and then make your predictions before Wednesday’s finale.

In the words of “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel, teenage singer Benicio Bryant just “took a big gamble” by performing an original song during Tuesday’s Finals. However, it’s a gamble that may just pay off for the lifelong “Agt” fan. Benicio’s original song this time around was titled “Six Strings (Because of You),” which he performed solo on stage without any fancy accompaniment. Ryan Niemiller is the last stand-up comedian still in the running to win “America’s Got Talent,” and for good reason: he makes America burst out laughing each and every week. Ryan’s routines are usually centered around his physical condition, and his Finals performance was no exception as he made jokes about being recognized as “cripple threat” and getting “tennis elbow” from fist-bumping his fans. Judge Gabrielle Union was so impressed that she even offered him a role in one of her movies. Do you think Ryan will join the “Agt” winners list? Three and a half months after the first audition episode of “America’s Got Talent” aired on NBC, we’ve finally gotten to the two-night finale. On September 17 the 10 finalists will take to the stage for one last time. Each is hoping to win over America with their performances on Tuesday’s live finals, which is episode 22 of season 14.

Kodi Lee may regret being the “America’s Got Talent” frontrunner from the very start of season 14. With just hours left before he performs in the “Agt” final on Tuesday September 17, this singing sensation has seen his lead over child prodigy Emanne Beasha shrink. The little girl with a grown-up voice has pulled perilously close to him in our exclusive poll of “America’s Got Talent” viewers.
Beasha and Lee have never faced off against each other. Each got a Golden Buzzer which sent them straight to the quarterfinals. Lee was the highlight of the first quarterfinal while Beasha shone on the third show. They then appeared on separate semifinals. Lee was the stand-out act on the first semifinal on Sept. 3 while Beasha stole the show on the Sept. 10 second semifinal. Tuesday’s live final on NBC will bring us the much-anticipated title bout of Kodi Lee vs. Emanne Beasha.

After the second of the two semifinals of “America’s Got Talent,” viewers are more convinced than ever that V. Unbeatable will win season 14.
