Doctor Odyssey, ABC’s new cruise ship procedural premiering this fall, is “Ryan Murphy at his outrageous, over-the-top best,” reports Joshua Jackson.
From 9-1-1 creator Murphy, Doctor Odyssey stars Fringe alum Jackson as Max, the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship “where the staff works hard and plays harder,” says the ABC synopsis. “It’s all hands on deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore.”

Grey’s Anatomy goes through a shakeup every few years that clears out some of its beloved cast.
After the news of Jake Borelli’s departure amid budget cuts, another player joined him on the way out before production gets underway on Grey’s Anatomy Season 21.
Deadline reports that Midori Francis, who has played Mika Yasuda for the last two seasons, will not return as a series regular.
The news is surprising given that Grey’s Anatomy ushered in a new era last season by introducing a new crop of interns.
Mika had cemented herself as a firm fixture at Grey Sloan Memorial and was expected to continue for years.
But with budget cuts, the show may not even be on the air for the years to come.
Why is Midori Francis leaving Grey’s Anatomy?
Deadline hinted that Francis’ departure is an amicable decision as the actor plots the next phase of her career after signing with WME.

Well, if you had tried to get us to guess the ABC 2024-25 fall season announcement, we couldn’t have predicted much of it.
There are new shows sprinkled throughout, but ABC is going almost full reality, which is a choice.
Let’s see what we’ve got to work with here.
Two new shows will interest TV Fanatics: High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson, which was delayed due to the strikes, and Doctor Odyssey, starring Joshua Jackson as a cruise ship doctor.
High Potential gets a 10/9c slot on Tuesdays after Dancing with the Stars.
Despite the relationship disaster of The Golden Bachelor, ABC is dedicating an hour and a half weekly to The Golden Bachelorette while snuggling award-winning comedy Abbott Elementary between that and a docuseries called Scamanda.
Thursdays find Doctor Odyssey after 9-1-1 and before Grey’s Anatomy.
And TV Fanatic favorites The Rookie and Will Trent? Saved for midseason.

Paging Don Johson! Report to the set of Ryan Murphy’s new ABC drama series, Dr. Odyssey, to join Joshua Jackson on a medical emergency! That’s right, patients. Don Johnson is scrubbing up for Murphy’s mysterious new project, Dr. Odyssey, which could be a medical procedural. The 20th Century Studios series targets a fall launch, with Ryan Murphy Television leading the charge.
While details about the show remain a mystery, reports indicate it’s a medical procedural aboard a cruise ship. If we know Murphy, there’s more than ship-wide food poisoning on the menu. Details about Johnson’s character remain unknown.
Murphy will write Dr. Odyssey and executive produce with Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken. Paris Barclay directs and executive produces Dr. Odyssey. Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, and Nissa Diederich also executive produce alongside Jackson.

Dr. Death, move over; there's a new doctor aboard: Dr. Odyssey.
Dr. Odyssey, a new series just greenlit by ABC from prolific and talented producer Ryan Murphy, who has marked his return to 20th Television, under the Disney umbrella.
We don't know what exactly Dr. Odyssey is about, but we do know that Joshua Jackson is set to take on the lead role.
The Dawson's Creek star joins this assumed medical procedural as the title character, whose charming personality and wit help him get what he wants.
That's all we know of the character so far, as no additional details will be released, as is typical for a Ryan Murphy series.
Ryan Murphy Sets His Sights on New Procedural
Murphy has quite an impressive resume, and his procedurals are known to do well.
Murphy works well within the horror genre, so it's no surprise his first successful network procedural, 9-1-1,...

Joshua Jackson is returning to network TV, starring in an ABC series from Ryan Murphy.
Jackson will star in a drama titled Dr. Odyssey, which the network has ordered straight to series. Details on the project, written by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, are being kept under wraps — ABC didn’t even provide a logline for the show.
The series is slated to premiere in the fall for ABC and will be the first new broadcast show from Murphy’s eponymous production company since 911: Lone Star premiered on Fox in early 2020. Disney’s 20th Television is producing with Ryan Murphy Television.
It also marks the first network series for Jackson since Fox’s Fringe ended in 2013. The actor, who broke out on Dawson’s Creek in the late 1990s, recently starred in Paramount+’s Fatal Attraction and the first season of Peacock’s anthology Dr. Death; he’ll...

When Dn alums Nono and Rodrgio Inada (last seen on our pages here and here respectively) were approached with the challenge of creating the maiden short film for messaging giants Whatsapp they were immediately taken with both the colossal possibilities of the project and the unassailable linkage to the filmmakers’ own backgrounds and zealously launched into the making of film Najia Odyssey. The short centres around basketball giant Giannis Antetokounmpo, a Greek-born Nigerian whose own search to unify his heritage and migrant upbringing was pitched by New York creative agency Translation coupled with the inspired touch of basing the narrative on Homer’s Odyssey. Whilst Odysseus battled mythical creatures, Nono and Inada were equally challenged to create a cohesive, inspiring and narrative journey under the guise of a commercial potentate and they did so with passion, stunning camerawork and the cross-border cohesion of an international team of collaborators. The resulting...

Not many Superstars have generated as much buzz in recent weeks as Sol Ruca has, but the fierce Zoey Stark made it a point to put a stop to all the chatter. Ruca started off hot, using her acrobatic offense to keep Stark off-balance, but a springboard splash went awry when Stark got her knees up. The ferocious Stark didn’t let up after that and after a series of strong strikes, she hit her devastating knee lift to put Ruca away. However, her post match beatdown of Ruca didn’t go as planned as the athletic Ruca...

WhatsApp wants in on original content.
The Meta-owned messaging app announced its first original, a 12-minute short film starring its debut celebrity spokesperson, NBA All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Called Naija Odyssey, the film is narrated by Antetokounmpo and his mother and “tells his origin story…as he reconciles his roots, birthplace and sense of belonging between cross-cultural worlds,” per its official description.
Antetokounmpo’s parents are Nigerian, and immigrated to Greece. He was born in Athens.
According to Variety, Naija Odyssey is above all a piece of branded content.
“Naija Odyssey is a story that reinforces how WhatsApp helps us embrace our multifaceted lives,” Vivian Odior, WhatsApp’s global head of marketing, told the outlet. “In navigating relationships, identity, and even adversity, WhatsApp is there—enabling you to embrace all sides of you by connecting you to those who matter most.”

There's more to handhelds than the Game Boy. We take a look at how mobile gaming has changed over the decades...
It goes without saying that handheld games have come a long way over the past 35 or-so years. From electronic bleepy things that were little more than glorified calculators, portable technology is now almost unrecognisable in 2017.

PlayStation Experience 2015 is kicking off in San Francisco today with the keynote speech. Sony set the bar pretty high last year with their inaugural conference, and their conference game generally has been strong in the last couple of years. Is this going to continue the trend, or is this where it all goes downhill? Let’s find out.
The keynote kicks off with an Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End trailer. The graphics are phenomenal. We see Nate meet up with his brother, Sam, voiced by Troy Baker, after a long time apart. It appears there’s dialogue options in the new game. The PlayStation friendly crowd cheered for that. No new gameplay was shown, but at this point, we don’t need it. And nor should we want it. Given the track record of Naughty Dog, Uncharted 4 should be a stellar action game, and the less we know about it the better.

Clara Bow, Mantrap What do Andrei Tarkovsky, Edward G. Robinson, Clara Bow, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Audrey Hepburn have in common? Easy. They'll all be featured in some form or other at the Library of Congress' Packard Campus in Culpeper, Virginia, in May. [Packard Campus screening schedule.] Andrei Tarkovsky will be represented by the classic sci-fier Solaris (1971), billed as the Soviet Union's answer to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, and by the classic period drama Andrei Rublev (1969), a meditation on art, religion, spirituality, and human brutality and stupidity. A technicality: Solaris will actually be screened on April 27. Edward G. Robinson stars in The Little Giant (1933), a pre-Code crime comedy featuring Mary Astor. The (at the time) energetic Roy Del Ruth (The Maltese Falcon, Taxi!, Employees' Entrance) directed. Clara Bow is the star of Mantrap (1926), a fluffy romantic comedy of interest chiefly because of Bow and because neither of her two leading...

Terrence Malick's latest could be his first direct challenge to Stanley Kubrick's supremacy. John Patterson admires the audacity
The Tree Of Life suggests that Terrence Malick has now elected to engage openly and directly with the director he superficially most resembles: Stanley Kubrick. Both "reclusive" – or just intensely private – and gestating movies over decades with intense perfectionism, each man has constructed a genre distinct unto itself, built on an instantly recognisable style and underpinned by complete creative control. But Malick's wispy, gossamer qualities, his organic, handheld imagery – always seeking wonder in harmony and balance – seem in total opposition to Kubrick's head-on, locked-down fish-eye compositions, his fanatically precise tracking-shots, sudden upsurges of brutal violence and abiding pessimism.
But somehow they are united, yin-yang style, by Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, with which Malick seems to be in some kind of debate throughout The Tree Of Life. Picture the 24-year-old,...
