Kevin Feige was part of the infamous Marvel Creative Committee (McC) in the early stages of the MCU and played a crucial role in preventing the committee from ruining Captain America. According to reports, Feige and Louis D’Esposito vehemently opposed the committee’s idea to set the character in modern times. There were screaming matches during meetings of the McC, with Feige emerging successful and giving us the period piece, Captain America: The First Avenger.

According to the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, the McC consisted of Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, Brian Michael Bendis, Louis D’Esposito, Kevin Feige, and Alan Fine. The book suggested that most of the unpopular and toxic opinions came from Alan Fine, who was the Dwight to Ike Perlmutter’s Michael.

John Romita Sr., the legendary Marvel artist who worked on characters ranging from Spider-Man and Wolverine to the Punisher and Black Widow, has passed away at the age of 93.
On their official website, Marvel set up a wonderful tribute to the brilliant artist, complete with a touching drawing depicting John Romita Sr. at his desk surrounded by some of the classic characters that he worked on throughout his career. “Millions came to know Marvel through his art, and millions more came to know Peter Parker through the unmistakable bold brushwork Romita brought to his pages…Known fondly to many as “Jazzy” John Romita in the Marvel Bullpen, his kindness, grace, and vision will always be remembered, and his influence will continue to shape generations of artists to come at Marvel and beyond…The Marvel family has lost one of its legends, and we mourn the loss of a creative giant.

A Disney spokesperson has confirmed to Deadline that Ike Perlmutter is out at the company. Note, Permutter oversaw the consumer products division of Marvel, and isn’t part of the Kevin Feige-led Marvel Studios.
Perlmutter’s departure comes amid Disney cutting 7K jobs in a massive overhaul of its employee corps that’s part of $5.5 billion cost-cutting manuever to position the Mouse House even more for the streaming obsessed entertainment era. Permutter’s Marvel Entertainment will be folded into other parts of the Disney corporate umbrella. Perlmutter’s oversight included comic book publishing (which reportedly earns $40M-$60M annually), as well as game licensing and arena shows.
Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Entertainment, will stay in place and report to Feige, president of Marvel Studios. Buckley previously reported to Feige and Perlmutter.

Back in 2015, we heard Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige almost walked away from the company due to ongoing disagreements with the Marvel Creative Committee about "Captain America: Civil War." This group situated at the Marvel Entertainment offices in New York consisted of Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter, president Alan Fine, Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis, Marvel Comics publisher Dan Buckley, and Marvel Entertainment Cco Joe Quesada, and they were constantly meddling in the affairs of Marvel Studios with terrible notes and worse ideas. At the time, all we heard was talk about the brass in New York wanting to scale...

After a long run that took the comic giant into the live-action small-screen business, Jeph Loeb is leaving Marvel Television.
The four-time Eisner Award winner and Heroes co-ep will exit the home of the concluding Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. and the upcoming Helstrom by the end of the year, sources close to the Marvel matter tell Deadline. “Jeph has been thinking about making a change for a while, and now seemed the right time to take that step,” asserted one source in reference to the recent awarding to Kevin Feige of the title of chief creative officer for all of the Marvel empire.
In another sharp-elbow move at the Disney-owned Marvel, the new title sidelines Dan Buckley and makes Loeb a direct report to Feige. Marvel and Disney did not respond to request for comment on news of Loeb’s forthcoming departure

Jeph Loeb Discusses Developing More Adult-Oriented Animated Marvel Shows for Hulu That Push the Wall
Earlier this year it was announced that Marvel and Hulu were developing a series of animated shows that consist of Marvel’s Howard the Duck, Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., Marvel’s Hit-Monkey, and Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show. Those will all lead up to a team-up special called Marvel’s The Offenders.
These shows will have more mature and adult-oriented content, and in a recent interview with Deadline, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb teases the direction that they are taking as they develop these shows. He explains:
"I’m a huge Archer fan, and Dan Buckley, who’s the president of all things other than the studio here at Marvel, and I started talking about how we have this mutual love of animation and also pushing that wall. The idea of doing something that was more adult, some of which was started with the idea of doing Deadpool animated.

Disney Xd has ordered a third season of the Emmy-nominated animated series Marvel’s Spider-Man with a Spring 2020 premiere, according to Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, programming and general manager, Disney Xd. In the third season, titled Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom, Peter Parker’s alter ego is pushed to his breaking point when the always-volatile Venom summons a global threat from its alien home world.
“This is the most epic conflict in the history of Marvel Animation,” said Cort Lane, senior vice president, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment. “We planted the seeds in two seasons of Marvel’s Spider-Man and three seasons of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but you don’t need to have watched them to be blown away by this colossal confrontation. While a ton of guest heroes will be on hand, Peter Parker’s special link to Venom makes him the only hero who can...

Stan Lee was a unique creative force and his characters are famous worldwide, adored by practically every living generation and currently the biggest box office draw on the planet. With his death yesterday, many are taking stock of the total creative output in his lifetime, concluding that perhaps not since Walt Disney has one man’s creative vision influenced the world of entertainment so greatly. And now, in one of the best tributes I’ve seen to date, Marvel Entertainment has released a video explaining exactly what he meant to the company.
Opening with footage of Stan Lee speaking to the camera in 1968 (it’s surreal seeing him this young), we gradually move through photographs and videos of his life while contemporary forces at Marvel talk about their experiences with Lee, including Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada, Senior Vice President Tom Brevoort, President of Marvel Entertainment Dan Buckley and Sana Amanat,...

Tom Holland, who dons the mask as the current iteration of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, took to Twitter to honor Steve Ditko, the co-creator of Marvel’s wisecracking web-slinging superhero.
“We all want to leave our mark on the world – this guy crushed it,” tweeted Holland Saturday. “He made so many people so happy and changed lives – most of all, mine!”
He adds, “Thank you Steve – your life lives on man, thank you.”
Ditko’s body was found in his apartment on June 29. He was 90 years old. The cause of death has yet to be announced.
In addition to creating Spider-Man alongside Stan Lee, Ditko also co-created Doctor Strange with Lee. His became known for his distinct artistic style with the comics. His work is largely reflected in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the live-action versions of Spider-Man — specifically with Homecoming — and the out-of-this-world Sorcerer Supreme mysticism seen in Doctor Strange.

Marvel‘s street-level heroes will remain on Netflix for the foreseeable future, and that’s despite Disney grabbing hold of 21st Century Fox’s assets in what was, by all accounts, a landmark deal. That means future instalments of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Iron Fist – not to mention spinoff series in the vein of The Punisher – will remain where they are.
But what about any new shows that the House of Ideas might be cooking up? Could those see a release on Netflix, too? Possibly, though it sure doesn’t seem likely. Speaking to Bloomberg today, Marvel Entertainment president Dan Buckley said something which very strongly hinted that the studio will be putting all future efforts on that Disney streaming service we keep hearing so much about.
See if you can read between the lines:

In a very carefully-worded announcement, Marvel has confirmed that Spider-Man season 2 will be happening on Disney Xd. The most recent animated Spider-Man series has been a lot of fun, so we're happy to hear this.
Here's the official season 2 synopsis, via Marvel:
The second season of “Marvel’s Spider-Man” follows Peter Parker in his sophomore year as a more experienced Super Hero and a more confident student at what was once the intimidating Horizon High School. Picking up where season one left off – in an epic showdown against Doc Ock, the Sinister Five, and Hobgoblin – season two will offer much higher stakes for both Peter and his heroic alter-ego, Spider-Man. For years, the filmmaking teams working on the Marvel Studios' films were getting a lot of input and notes from Marvel's Creative Committee led by Ike Perlmutter was a thorn in their side, which is why Kevin Feige eventually had Disney cut ties with them. Feige ended up orchestrating a move with Disney and CEO Bob Iger to make Marvel Studios a separate entity which would only report to Disney.
One of the more ridiculous things that the Marvel Creative Committee wanted to do is have James Gunn ditch his amazing soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy! James Gunn told Vanity Fair that the committee was “a group of comic-book writers and toy people” who gave him “haphazard” notes. As you know, the Guardians soundtrack, "Awesome Mix Vol. 1", ended up going Platinum.

Marvel's has been developing a series adaptation of their comic New Warriors and it was originally set to air on Freeform. That's all changed now. The series will no longer air on Freeform and according to THR, Marvel is now trying to find a new home for it.
Apparently, Freeform couldn't seem to find a slot in their schedule for next year to fit the show into. Marvel has screened the pilot episode for test audiences already and according to the report, it's testing through the roof and has caught the attention of high-level Disney executives. That's a good sign! Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Entertainment said:

Marvel is Launching a New Multiplatform Program Called Marvel Super Hero Adventures For Preschoolers
Marvel Entertainment is targeting a very young target market with a new multiplatform program called Marvel Super Hero Adventures. This whole new project will revolve around an animated series "intended to introduce the Marvel Universe of heroes and villains to a preschool audience."
I wish Marvel would have had something like this when I was raising my kids! They probably would've loved it. Now you can all get your kids hooked on the Marvel brand while they are still very early in their life journey.
According to THR, this is a short-form animated series will begin this fall, "with each three-and-a-half-minute episode teaming Spider-Man with another Marvel hero to teach the benefits of friendship, co-operation and heroism. Characters set to appear in the first 10-episode run include Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Black Panther and Ms. Marvel."

Many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would agree that the first Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best Marvel movies of all. But if you were to ask director James Gunn that same question he might be a little more critical. Recently, Gunn revealed during a Q&A on his Facebook page what he would have changed about the first Gotg.
One fan asked him: "...do you have a least favorite scene or one you wish you would've done a bit different after watching both guardians movies?"
Gunn replied with:
“There is some messy villain plot stuff in the first movie I'd like to deal with again. There was a committee working for Marvel at the time (now defunct) who had a lot of input, and that was primarily where it ended up. It just got a little messy.”
The "committee" Gunn is referring to was dissolved...

Marvel has released sneak peek of their new Spider-Man animated series. It features a clip of Spidey in the heat of battle with Scorpion. The new series goes back to the origins of Spider-Man as a hero while Peter Parker discovers his powers and begins fighting crime in New York City.
It looks like something the kids will enjoy, but Marvel hasn't really impressed me with any of their animation projects since The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Since then things have just been going downhill, especially the animation quality.

Ant-Man will shrink onto the small screen, for a series of shorts on Disney Xd...
Fittingly enough, Ant-Man is going to flit between the big and small screens. Scott Lang is shrinking to telly size for Disney Xd, to appear in a series of shorts entitled Marvel's Ant-Man.
See related Star Wars: Rogue One review Star Wars: Rogue One - what did you think?
Josh Keaton (heard recently in Ben-10 and Voltron: Legendary Defender) will step into Paul Rudd's shoes to voice crook-turned-hero Scott.
The shorts will follow on from the events of Peyton Reed's 2015 Ant-Man movie, but, as with the Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series, we wouldn't expect them to be officially canonical with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cinematic sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp, we expect, won't need to shape its script to account for these events.

Comic Books 101: Marvel Characters That Need To Be On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. !
I’ve said time and time again that despite its merits the biggest flaws in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV show has been its lack of fully developing characters from the Marvel Comic Book Universe. The show (which spiraled out from The Avengers movie) is ripe to explore and showcase some of the best characters that might just not be ready or capable of making an impact on the big screen. While some characters have found a way to appear (Deathlock, Daisy Rumble Johnson, Absorbing Man, and recently Ghost Rider) a great majority of villains have either been created specifically for the show (and suddenly now appearing in the comics) or have just been throw away characters that have very little to zero ties in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Comic Book Universe.

Marvel has officially announced that The Inhumans will be developed as a TV series for ABC. The studio is also planning to premiere the first two episodes of the series in IMAX theaters!
Earlier this month, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that he thought it was happening on television, then said that it could happen as a movie. Well, it looks like it going to be both! In an unprecedented arrangement, the large-screen pioneer will debut a version of the first two episodes of the upcoming ABC series from Marvel Television for two weeks in its worldwide theatres at the start of September 2017.
The deal marks the company’s first foray as a financing participant in a TV pilot and series and is the first time a live-action television series will launch this way.
ABC, IMAX and Marvel Television intend to create a joint marketing and promotion plan for the series across their platforms, which would also be the first cross-platform marketing launch of a television series.
Marvel’s The Inhumans is based on a race of superhumans first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965.

Usually a strong slate highlighting some of the year’s best films, 2016 is no different as Manchester by the Sea leads the pack with four nominations. Close behind is Moonlight (which will also pick up a special ensemble award) and Paterson with three each overall.
Rounding out the Best Feature line-up, along with the three aforementioned films, is Certain Women and Everybody Wants Some!!. As for the Best Documentary line-up, Cameraperson, I Am Not Your Negro, O.J.: Made in America, Tower, and Weiner all made the cut. With Krisha, The Witch, The Fits, Elle, Morris From America, Jackie, and more also getting nods, the list makes for the ideal what-to-watch-before-the-year-is-over rundown.

Over the weekend, Marvel announced that they are developing a new Spider-Man animated series for Disney Xd. The series will simply be called Marvel's Spider-Man, and it's set to drop sometime in 2017.
