It was said that Therese and John Kerr, parents of Victoria's Secret model Miranda, visited the hospital at around 8 P.M. that day. No detail on the baby boy's birth has been officially shared just yet.
The Daily Telegraph, in the meantime, reported that Miranda went to labor on Friday morning, January 7. According to the site, they plan to keep all the songs from the movie but will make it more hard-edged (whatever that means!). Ileen Maisel and Bob Balaban will producer the movie under their banner, Amber Entertainment.
“Our movie will be a tougher, more realistic retelling of the same classic story of two very different people whose love for each other transcends their enormous cultural differences,” Balaban said. “We think there’s a whole new audience just waiting...

The figure skating portion of the Olympics came to an end last night, but I can't stop thinking about the performances, particularly how snooze-worthy some of the music choices were. There were a few highlights. Kim Yu-Na's short program to the James Bond theme was playful and sexy, while Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White's choice of an Indian medley during the ice dancing competition was delightful. But points off for using music from Phantom of the Opera, which needs to be retired from all competitions until the end of time. Ice dancing also provided the bizarre musical...

If you don't get ice dancing, please watch the gold medal-winning performance from Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. It will erase all memories of Sunday's occasionally ridiculous original dances. Theirs was by far the best free dance of the night. ("Free dance" means the skaters can use any music, as long as it has a beat.) It had emotion, speed, stunning lifts, perfect unison on the twizzles (I've accepted that I'm now someone who applauds "twizzles"), and above all, the feel that they were actually dancing on ice. So many of the pairs, including Russia's Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (3rd,...

Despite the fact that everybody seems to hate NBC's coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, there have still been compelling television moments. Take Monday night (February 22) for example: In the midst of hypnotic images of ski jumping and freestyle aerials, the focus of the evening was on ice dancing. It's an event that has been dominated by Russia ever since joining the Olympics ranks in 1976, but Monday's competition saw the rise of Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue, the Canadian pair who surged to the top and took the gold medal. Meryl Davis and Charlie White, an American team who have been partnered up for 13 years, took the silver medal, while Russia's Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin — the reigning world champions — settled for bronze.

The "folk/country dance" theme for ice dancing's second night of competition was just asking for trouble. Teams not wanting to play it safe by doing a style representative of their own country — or mainstream, like Spanish Flamenco or Indian — were going to get "creative." The best they could hope for was viewers tuning in and thinking they were watching that scene in The Cutting Edge when the pairs team got tripped up in the lederhosen; the worst would be if viewers stumbled upon the "aboriginal" original dance from Russia's reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (pictured, left...

Ice dancing got underway Friday night in Vancouver with the U.S. hoping one of its two top teams will end the Russian domination of the sport and bring America its first gold medal in the discipline. If you tuned in for the compulsory dance — in which each couple skated the same Tango Romantica so they could be judged on technique head-to-head — you may have thought you were watching a costume contest (the quality of skating seemed so similar) until you caught a glimpse of Russia's reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (pictured, left). They had the fire...

We took in the Broadway revival of South Pacific last night. Very handsome production, though I wish I'd seen the original cast. I've never been a big fan of the musical but I have to blame that on the stiff movie version and the subsequent TV version because, like most of Rodgers & Hammerstein's work it's pretty solid from song to song to song. This is why modern musicals are so often not wonderful, as they usually have to rely on one or two killer songs/hooks to get them through two plus hours. You need at least four or five!
Mitzi Gaynor sings in outside the shower
If you're an overachiever like West Side Story, you don't take any chances and only allow superlative classics into your song score. Literally any of those numbers could carry entire lesser musicals through long rough patches.
