Displaying a transparency that few filmmakers of his fame and / or caliber would even bother with, Steven Soderbergh has, for a couple of years, been keen on releasing lists of what he watched and read during the previous twelve months. If you’re at all interested in this sort of thing — and why not? what else are you even doing with your day? — the 2015 selection should be of strong interest, this being a time when he was fully enmeshed in the world of creating television.
He’s clearly observing the medium with a close eye, be it what’s on air or what his friends (specifically David Fincher and his stillborn projects) show him, and how that might relate to his apparent love of 48 Hours Mystery or approach to a comparatively light slate of cinematic assignments — specifically: it seems odd that the last time he watched Magic Mike Xxl, a...

Both the American and UK airdates for Penny Dreadful season 2 have been slightly pushed back…
Fans of Penny Dreadful, prepare to wait ever so slightly longer for the next season to begin. Both sets of airdates – American and UK – have been pushed back by a week.
It's been a couple of weeks since we've had any updates about the show, with the full trailer reveal being the last we heard of its progress.
No reason was given for the delay that we can find, so perhaps its little more than a logistic matter. If it’s down to quality control, though, surely no-one will mind giving the behind-the-scenes team another week to get all the kinks ironed out.
Either way, Eva Green, Josh Hartnett et al will now return to American screens on Sunday the 3rd of May, and British ones two days later on Tuesday the 5th of May.

Tribeca N.O.W. is a new initiative that recognizes creators of new online work (N.O.W.) aiming to discover, highlight, and celebrate the next generation of storytellers who choose to create and share their work in the online space. Tribeca Film Festival Programmer, Cara Cusumano, sat down with several artists/online pioneers as part of a series of talks hosted at the Apple Store in SoHo. Members of the panel included Rob Michael Hugel, creator and star of "I Hate Being Single," Ben Sinclair & Katja Blichfeld, creators of "High Maintenance," and Natalia Leite & Alexandra Roxo of "Be Here Nowish." Cusumano asked the creators where they wanted their work to develop. The answers revealed a similar theme. Television is the light at the end of the tunnel. Leite said, "I mean we would love to take our show to television. I think that would be a dream for us.

Series Name: I Hate Being Single Asking For: $15,000 on Indiegogo Amount Raised Thus Far (At Time Of Post): $3,831 Days Remaining In Campaign (At Time Of Post): 22 Description: I Hate Being Single is, like many other independent web series, a show about a young New Yorker trying to figure out how to survive as a twenty-something in the city. As you might expect, this means that the quality hinges almost entirely on the writing, which was, during the first season, quite good. The series is written and directed by Rob Michael Hugel, who stars as a hopelessly romantic Williamsburg resident. According to Splitsider, the first season "does for the twenty-something hipster Brooklyn crowd what Seinfeld did for the thirty-something Manhattan yuppie set." This campaign hopes to fund season two. Creator Bio: Hugel is a UCBer who often hangs out with his comedy and YouTube friends on the I Hate Being Single channel.

You’ve seen the story of a man or woman rebounding from a painful breakup a billion times in a million romantic comedies, often as enacted by Kate Hudson and/or Matthew David McConaughey Anna Faris and/or Katherine Heigl and/or Jennifer Garner in performances reinforcing Western gender stereotypes. I Hate Being Single is different. It gives the same romcom premise a hipster spin. New York City borough-based Actor/comedian/writer Rob Michael Hugel created and stars in the series that features a cast of funny people from Upright Citizens Brigade with acting so subtle it’s almost like they took a page from the hipster playbook and try not to care. The action follows the post-breakup heartbreak of a poor Brooklyn owner of skinny jeans, the series is more ha-ha funny than laugh out loud, but it’s odd, entertaining and completely engrossing nonetheless. Here’s an example: In the second episode,...
