It's taken 20 years, but Jennifer Lopez has flipped the script on what it can look like to be a Latina looking for love. All you have to do is compare her new movie, "Marry Me," which comes out this Valentine's Day weekend, with her 2002 "Maid in Manhattan" rom-com, and you'll notice some major differences. Both films are romantic comedies featuring Lopez falling in love with a white guy across class barriers. But in 2022's "Marry Me," Lopez is the rich and famous person, and her love interest is the normie (Owen Wilson as math teacher Charlie Gilbert). It's the opposite of "Maid in Manhattan," where she played a hotel maid who tries on a guest's designer clothes when US Senate hopeful Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes) meets her and the romance begins.
At the time, "Maid in Manhattan" was described as a Cinderella story, which clearly no one's using to describe Wilson in "Marry Me.

“And Just Like That…,” Sara Ramírez will be a series regular on Michael Patrick King’s “Sex and the City” revival for HBO Max.
Ramírez, who is non-binary, will join Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis on the show, and will play comedian Che Diaz. According to the logline, the character is “a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian that hosts a podcast on which Carrie Bradshaw is regularly featured. Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humor and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular.”
“Sex and the City,” originally created by Darren Star, was on HBO from 1998 through 2004, and followed a group of friends in New York City. Over 94 episodes, the show revolutionized how women’s friendships — and women’s sexuality — is represented in popular culture. The show became a phenomenon, and spurred two movies.

Madam Secretary is losing a series regular ahead of its final season.
TV Line is reporting that Sara Ramirez is stepping down as a series regular, but there's hope that she could return for a guest appearance to wrap up her character's storyline.
Ramirez has played Kat Sandoval on the political drama since the fourth season. She was drafted in to replace Bebe Neuwirth, who played Nadine Tolliver.
If you watch Madam Secretary online, you know that Kat had left the world of politics behind prior to Elizabeth managing to bring her back into it.
Ramirez is best known for her role on the ABC medical juggernaut Grey's Anatomy. She departed the series after over a decade in the role in 2016.

Grey’s Anatomy alum Sara Ramirez is revealing via Twitter that a return to Grey’s may be in the offing. Ramirez, who played Dr. Callie Torres for 10 seasons before exiting the show in 2016, addressed speculation that her series regular role on CBS’ Madam Secretary is preventing her from returning to Grey’s in future guest spots.
“For the record @CBS has been nothing but gracious and generous to me. They are open to Callie coming back! The ball is in @ABCNetwork’s court,” Torres wrote Wednesday.
Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes suggested in an Instagram Q&A last month that she had tried to recruit Ramirez for a return appearance on the medical drama without success. “Let me tell you something — we tried,” Rhimes said during the Q&A. “CBS has a hold of her. Because she’s on [Madam Secretary] and we can’t get her. But we love her.

In a perfect world, Jessica Capshaw’s Grey’s Anatomy swan song last May would’ve included a guest appearance by former onscreen squeeze Sara Ramirez. But, apparently, the Eye shut it down.
In an Instagram Story Q&A with fans on Wednesday, Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes was asked about the possibility of Ramirez’ Callie checking back into Grey Sloan Memorial. “Let me tell you something — we tried,” she responded. “CBS has a hold of her. Because she’s on [Madam Secretary] And we can’t get her. But we love her. Always. This is her home. Come home Callie.”

Kat Sandoval, welcome to the Department of State doghouse.
Sunday’s Madam Secretary ended on an upnote of sorts: A group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people was able to slip away from the government persecuting it and take refuge in another nation. But the underground, foreign-policy maneuvering Kat and Jay had to pull to make the rescue happen could have negative ramifications in the long-term.
Long story short: The State Department, working via a non-governmental organization, engaged Kurdish smugglers to get the Lgbtq victims from their home territory of Abkhazia to Bulgaria, which promised refuge. But the...

This Sunday’s Madam Secretary (CBS, 10/9c) focuses on the plight of a group of foreign lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer refugees seeking asylum — a storyline dear to both the political drama’s hotshot strategist Kat Sandoval and the actress who plays her.
