Since 2015, there’s been no need to go on a minibreak to a cultural European destination. Richard Ayoade and Joe Lycett have gone for us. They’ve waited at airport security lines displaying their miniature toothpaste tube in a clear plastic bag. They’ve bought mystery crisps from railway vending machines. They’ve been to the museums, tried the local delicacies and gone on the sightseeing tours, so that we could stay luxuriously put.
Indeed, for a good chunk of 2020, staying put was the only option, which is when Travel Man: 48 Hours In…really came into its own. During lockdown, you could spin the globe, choose a location, load up All4 (as it was then known), and have a packed weekend there from the comfort of your sofa. All the experience of short haul travel with none of the having-to-mime-migraine-symptoms-to-a-Hungarian-pharmacist. Bliss!

BBC Radio 4 has today launched Jokes, a new comedy podcast feed that brings together top picks from the station’s original comedy in one place. Available to subscribe on BBC Sounds and RSS, Jokes will combine brand new series with highlights from the archive, providing comedy fans with an easy way to find the latest content from their favourite comedians.
First up in the feed will be Nora Meadows’ Week of Wellness, a new sitcom starring Katy Wix as a therapist trying to help her clients (and herself) find wellness. This series is a joint commission between BBC Comedy and Radio 4 following a non-broadcast pilot last year.
Jokes is set to include further TV co-commissions too, including Icklewick FM, written by and starring Amy Gledhill and Chris Cantrill of The Delightful Sausage. Set in a fictional Yorkshire radio station, the show follows the residents of Icklewick as they discuss...

Review Andrew Blair 6 Aug 2013 - 07:50
Andrew checks out Knightmare Live at Edinburgh Fringe, a triumph of comedy, geekery and nostalgia...
Short version: Knightmare Live is great fun. Go see it.
Long version:
Welcome, watchers of illusion, to this review.
Suffice to say that Knightmare Live is a slightly different prospect to the esteemed televisual feast that Citv broadcast from 1987 to 1994, but nonetheless a massively entertaining one. Almost as if Mystery Science Theatre 3000 decided that commenting on films wasn't enough, and that they had to go and make Troll 4.
What we have is a stage version of the TV show, which comes with its own limitations. However, despite this it's a faithful replication of the gameplay, with one player donning the Helmet of Justice and a knapsack before entering the dungeons. Two comedians (in this case, Matthew Highton and Jessica Fostekew) act as his guides. It is at this...
