We know it’s said every year but…are these the worst contestants of this series anybody could possibly find? Yes, it’s stilettos and briefcases at dawn as everyone prepares themselves for more challenging tasks, boardroom battles and a chance to dodge being caught on the end of Sir Alan’s firing finger.
We’re just a few episodes in to the new series of The Apprentice and we have seen them come and go in a decade of this show being on our screens at home. Some of the very best and worst decisions (who could ever forget the Sandalwood disaster) have been made on this programme by some of the very best and worst people we’ve ever come across in the world of business.
Year after year the screaming-at-each-other to actually-doing-some-work ratio seems to become more and more apart. We’ve seen contestants loathe each other...

Award-winning stand up comedian Dara O Briain is to take over as host of The Apprentice: You’re Fired when it returns to BBC Two later in the year. Already very popular with BBC Two viewers as the host of Mock the Week, Dara regularly appears on Live At The Apollo, Qi, Three Men In A Boat and Radio 4’s Just A Minute.
Dara said: ” I’m delighted to be stepping into the chair for this. As a comedian, I’ve spent my entire career asking people “what do you do for a living?” It can’t be too much of a stretch to include the words ” …now that you know you’re not getting this job” at the end of the question.
Janice Hadlow, Controller, BBC Two, said: “I’m thrilled to have Dara on board. His unique style of quick-witted banter is ideally suited to the job...

Philip Taylor has claimed that Karren Brady has brought "glamour" to The Apprentice. The former contestant said that he was concerned when he heard about Brady replacing Margaret Mountford on the reality series, but praised her efforts so far on the Junior spinoff. "I was genuinely worried when it was first announced because it was pretty big shoes to fill with Margaret leaving," the 2009 applicant told Digital Spy. "But so far I've been really impressed. "I think it's worked really well, her starting on the Junior show, because we've got to know her and see what a nice person she is. She's shown how smart she is and has even been funny at times. She also brings (more)...

Former Apprentice candidate Kate Walsh has warned this year’s teenage bunch, not to get romantically involved in the house.
Blonde bombshell Kate, who now presents Live From Studio Five, truly believes that her relationship with ‘Pants Man’ Philip Taylor, cost her the top job at Sir Alan Sugar’s company.
She told The Sun:
“I hope they picked up on the fact that I had a relationship in the house and then came a very close second.
“I think they would be silly to act on impulse while they’re in there.
“There is still a niggling doubt in my mind – and everyone else’s – about why I didn’t win.”
Watch Junior Apprentice on BBC1 tonight at 9pm.

Philip Taylor has announced that he is launching a range of organic underwear. Taylor, who appeared on last year's series of The Apprentice, is most famous for creating a superhero called 'Pantsman' to sell cereal during one of the tasks. Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "I know that everyone thought the whole Pantsman thing was a bit of a joke and looking back I can see the funny side, but my new business is anything but a gimmick." Taylor has already flown to India to find ethical cotton farms to work with, while several national chains have reportedly agreed to stock the 'Happy Cottons' range. Philip Taylor has claimed that the 2010 series of The Apprentice will be weaker without Margaret Mountford. Mountford, who worked as Sir Alan Sugar's "eyes and ears" on the show for five years, announced that she was leaving at the end of the last series. The 56-year-old corporate lawyer quit to concentrate solely on her PhD in papyrology. Taylor, who was a contestant on the 2009 series, said that Mountford's replacement Karen Brady would struggle to match up to her predecessor. "I think she is a huge loss," Taylor told Digital Spy. Apprentice duo Phillip Taylor and Kate Walsh are reportedly "blissfully happy" together. According to The Mirror, Taylor, 29, has left the North-East to move nearer the 27-year-old. The duo initially split up after filming for The Apprentice ended, but two months later began romancing again. Bronx-born Kimberly Davis has become the fifth candidate to fired on The Apprentice. Sir Alan Sugar sacked the self-proclaimed "rough tough cream puff from New York" after she lead team Ignite to defeat in a breakfast cereal advertising challenge. Team Empire's 'Treasure Flakes' advert was a triumph, while Team Ignite's 'Wake Up Call' ad with a cartoon character called 'Pants Man' was heavily criticised. The marketing consultant took Lorraine Tighe and Phillip Taylor, who devised the flop promotion, back into the boardroom with her. Sir Alan Sugar's aide Nick Hewer claimed that the trio had taken "logic and tortured it until it screamed" with the campaign. Kimberly argued that Lorraine had "sucked the energy" (more)...
