The South by Southwest Film & TV Festival has announced the 2024 Jury and Special Award winners.
This year’s narrative feature competition winner was “Bob Trevino Likes It,” which was directed and written by Tracie Laymon and stars Barbie Ferreira and John Leguizamo. Meanwhile, “Grand Theft Hamlet” topped the documentary feature competition.
“What an extraordinary week of film and TV premieres we’ve had here at SXSW, and there is more to come through Saturday,” said Claudette Godfrey, VP, Film & TV. “Our theaters have been bursting with incredible and vocal audiences celebrating the exceptional and diverse work in our lineup, and we’re so excited to celebrate this year’s jury and special award winners!”
The Audience Award voting will conclude on Saturday, March 16, and winners will be announced that week.

Exclusive: UK sales company Film Constellation launches with drama from Fish Tank producer.
Oscar-nominee Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine) and rising actor Jack Lowden (’71) are set to star in UK drama Cross My Mind, the first film on the slate of fledgling UK sales outfit Film Constellation.
Written by MacArthur Fellowship recipient Naomi Wallace and Bruce McLeod (Flying Blind), the film follows the intense and erotic love affair between a recovering blinded soldier (Lowden) and a married woman (Hawkins) who is taking care of him.
But the clock is ticking, as he is beginning to recover his sight, and the carer is not who the young soldier thinks she is.

Mongrel International has closed key deals on Peter Greenaway’s Walking To Paris, about the early life of acclaimed 20th Century sculptor Constantin Brancusi.
Epicentre has acquired the film for France and Film Co-opi for Switzerland.
The film recreates the year-long trek on foot from Romania to Paris by Brancusi in what is regarded as a formative experience in the modernism pioneer’s life.

Janis Nords’ second feature Mother I Love You and Juris Kursietis’ debut Modris were the big winners at the ¨Great Christopher¨ (¨Lielais Kristaps¨) National Film Competition held during the first edition of the Riga International Film Festival (December 2-12).
Nords, who graduated in film directing from the UK’s Nfts, received the top honour of best film as well as the trophy for best feature film director and best actress (for Vita Varpina’s performance as the single mother trying to make ends meet).
On presenting the direction prize to Nords, the competition jury’s chairman, veteran film director Janis Streics, said that he saw “a bright future ahead for Latvian cinema” on the strength of the line-up for this edition of the national film awards.
