Action legend Sylvester Stallone will join forces with the comedic kung fu stylings of Jackie Chan in the new film, Ex-Baghdad. An unusual paring for sure, the two veterans of the screen will team up to thwart an attack on a Chinese owned, Iraqi based oil refinery.
Chan will play a private security contractor who is sent in to rescue workers after the refinery is attacked. Upon learning the true intentions of the group responsible, Chan’s security advisor will team up with Stallone’s former U.S. Marine in an attempt to stop the intruders from stealing an affluence of oil.

After three films in the space of five years, Sylvester Stallone has ostensibly called time on The Expendables franchise. But just because Barney Ross is bound for an early retirement doesn’t necessarily mean that Stallone is ready to exit the action genre altogether, as he’s reportedly signed on for Escape Plan 3.
At least, that’s according to Deadline. Word is that Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films CEOs and co-founders Randall Emmett and George Furla have issued the go-ahead for a third film in the cult action series just as Escape Plan 2 begins to wrap up principal photography.
The sequel, directed by Steven C. Miller and tentatively titled Escape Plan 2: Hades, will see the return of Sylvester Stallone’s super-gruff inmate Ray Breslin. Despite rumors to the contrary, Arnold Schwarzenegger (Emil Rottmayer) isn’t involved in the prison sequel whatsoever, allowing the void to be filled by none other than Dave Bautista.

Arnold Schwarzenegger may not be back for “The Expendables 4.”
The actor told EW that he will not star in the actioner without Sylvester Stallone, who is reportedly leaving the franchise.
“There is no ‘Expendables’ without Sly,” the former governor said. “I would never do the movie without him, no.”
According to multiple reports — first reported by Deadline — Stallone is departing “The Expendables” after he and Nu Image/Millennium chief Avi Lerner could not agree on the direction of the new film, including its director and script.
In addition to starring in the series as Barney Ross, Stallone also co-wrote the first three films with creator Dave Callaham and directed 2010’s original “The Expendables.”
Schwarzenegger plays Trench Mauser in the “Expendables” films.

Now that Sylvester Stallone has reportedly parted ways with the franchise, fellow series stalwart Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he currently has no interest in The Expendables 4 without his action cohort.
EW caught up with the Austrian Oak in anticipation of Aftermath, Elliott Lester’s revenge thriller that recounts the tragedy of the Überlingen mid-air collision through the lens of a grieving husband and father. It wasn’t long before the conversation veered toward The Expendables franchise and, more specifically, Schwarzenegger’s future in it – or lack thereof. Like one domino setting off a chain reaction, it seems all but certain that if Sylvester Stallone chooses to hang up the hat, other stars will follow in his footsteps. After all, the character of Barney Ross was in many ways the glue that bound that ragtag team of mercenaries together, and we struggle to imagine a scenario...

Is Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross really expendable? We’re about to find out, because the actor has just shocked fans and studio heads alike by dramatically pulling out of The Expendables 4 (planned to be the last in the series) and any subsequent films in the multimillion dollar franchise. This is despite the huge commercial success of the three past Expendables movies, which helped Stallone reclaim his hard-won action credentials first established in the 1980s. It’s also despite him being offered a rumored $20M payday (the largest in his lengthy career) to reprise the role of Barney Ross for a fourth time.
So, why the shocking departure? Sources say it stems from disagreements with Nu Image/Millennium Chief Avi Lerner. Lerner and Stallone have butted heads in the past, but have apparently been able to find common ground. Not this time though, with lengthy arguments over elements of...

The Hollywood Reporter is telling us today that The Expendables 4 is now set for 2018 and will be the final film in the explosive action series. Details on the project remain scarce, as we don’t have any indication of when exactly in 2018 it’ll arrive or which actors will be back for more, but we can confirm that it is coming and will be the last outing – at least, we hope.
We say that because while The Expendables was a fun romp featuring some larger than life action stars, the series has since gone downhill. Its charm started to wear thin by the second outing and when it came time for The Expendables 3, audiences had seemingly grown tired of the shenanigans. Still, it appears as if the box office numbers were strong enough to get one more sequel and so, we now arrive at The Expendables 4.

The long-accepted rule in the film industry is that established names bring in the box office gold. Hollywood has always relied on big-name actors to guarantee them big box office. But is the trend changing now? Are fans now becoming less interested in A-list actors than in the characters they play?
A-List Hollywood stars get the big money because they bring in big profits for Hollywood studios. Or at least, they have up until now. Is the era of the A-Lister starting to fade? It’s possible, because in recent years, it seems that film fans have more interest in the role and less in the person playing the role. Look at what’s been happening to many A-lister in recent years.
Let’s take Johnny Depp, for instance. He used to play a variety of roles and could draw in crowds with his name alone. More recently, however, his...

Though Lionsgate hasn't officially begun moving on a fourth "The Expendables" movie yet, franchise star Sylvester Stallone revealed back in March that he's already made initial plans with one of them being a return to the R rating of the first two films.
We know Stallone will be back as Barney Ross, but today comes word of a potential new cast member - pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan. During a Q&A session at the Body Power Expo in Birmingham, Hogan dropped a tease that he and Stallone have been in touch about him potentially playing a villain in the film:
"We're trying to figure out a way to maybe turn me into the most evil man in the world. Y'know, Stallone gave me my first break and he's been a great friend. We had a great conversation, talking about the possibilities. Can I still run, can I still jump?...

The Expendables 3 might not have set the box office alight, but you can't keep a good action hero down.
Sylvester Stallone is reportedly planning to bring his Oap ass-kicker franchise to the small-screen, with an Expendables event series in the works at Fox.
Much like how the films united action heroes of '80s and '90s cinema - Stallone, Schwarzenegger et al - so this new show is looking to bring together iconic TV tough guys from yesteryear.
Casting is yet to be confirmed, but in the meantime, here's Digital Spy's dream team for the TV Expendables.
1. Kiefer Sutherland
Credentials: 24
He might not be eager to reprise Jack Bauer any time soon (dammit!) but Kiefer has to be on this list. His commanding presence makes him a natural fit for team leader - the TV equivalent of Stallone's Barney Ross.
2. Michael Chiklis

If there’s any space left for another action-packed, crime-fighting TV drama, Sylvester Stallone would like to fill it: Fox is developing the actor’s film franchise The Expendables for a small-screen event series.
The Expendables, whose third installment was released in 2014, follows a group of elite mercenaries — led by Stallone’s Barney Ross — who undertake different missions in order to get revenge on their enemies.

Sylvester Stallone will produce an event television series based on the Expendables film franchise.
Stallone is partnering with Avi Lerner on a limited run programme for Fox, which would feature iconic television stars as a new group of Expendables.
This new Expendables team would unite to stop a global terrorist threat, according to Deadline.
It is not yet known whether Stallone will reprise his role as Expendables leader Barney Ross in the proposed Fox programme.
A pilot is currently being written by Ride Along's Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward with NCIS: Los Angeles creator Shane Brennan.
In addition to the proposed television show, two more Expendables sequels and a female-centric spinoff called The ExpendaBelles are in development at Lionsgate.

Apparently Sylvester Stallone.s mantra is "never let die." After resurrecting Barney Ross for The Expendables 3 and with plans to do the same for Rocky Balboa in the upcoming spinoff, Creed, the action movie mainstay is ready for another Rambo entry. And it looks like he just officially revealed the title, and that likely means a bigger announcement is on the horizon. We haven.t heard much on the next Rambo, as details and a production schedule are being finalized. Though, there was a rumor floating around that it will be officially titled Rambo: Last Blood, a name which originated from a ComingSoon reader. Not the most reliable of sources, we know, but Stallone took to Twitter and seemingly confirmed this piece of intel. Doing Scarpa based on Gangster Greg Scarpa after Last Blood Rambo.... It's at this time of year that people start to glance in the rearview mirror and ruminate on what's happened over the course of the past twelve months. Focusing specifically on cinema, it's time to think on the Film Year 2014 and make some lists. Movie fans need to decide which blu-rays they want as Christmas presents so they can write it down in a list to post to Santa.

It turns out that a throwaway gag at the end of "The Expendables 3" wasn't as throwaway as expected. Apparently the macho action thriller sequel features a gay couple, and it isn't hunky newbies played by Kellan Lutz or Glen Powell.
Nope. Rather it's Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jet Li's characters. Didn't see that coming did you?
Spoilers Ahead
In one the film's final scenes, Jet Li's Yin Yang, Schwarzenegger's Trench and Stallone's Barney Ross characters are in a bar celebrating and commiserating together. Buzzfeed describes the scene as follows:
"So, you’re working for Trench now?" Ross asks Yang, who responds by just shooting Trench a knowing look and a smile. As Ross turns to walk away, Trench and Yang lean in even closer to each other, grinning so widely, they almost start to giggle.
"You guys want to get a room?" asks Ross.
"We don’t need a room!

The Expendables 3 is so adorable you'd want to pinch its little cheeks if the average age of the crew weren't higher than 50. Once again lead by Sylvester Stallone's Barney Ross it's a new mission, a new team, and a new attitude, or so the tagline for this latest film implies. That new attitude must have something to do with entertainment, since The Expendables 3, for its been-there-done-that narrative and paint-by-numbers action set-pieces, ends up as the most enjoyable. It's lighter than the previous two, and though the self-indulgence among the cast is at an all-time high, the genuine fun being had bleeds through. Synopsis, shynopsis. You know the drill. The Expendables are the team of good guys traveling the world in their twin-engine Albatross taking on bad guys and solving the worlds problems a few hundred bullets at a time. This time, however, the group is facing its toughest challenge yet,...

The Expendables 3 is the latest installment of the cheese-tastic, 1980s style, throwback action franchise. You may not think of this series of films as anything more than an exercise in geriatric yoga for the addled action stars of yore. But, the fact is The Expendables (2010) made $275M on an $80M budget and The Expendables 2 (2012) made $305M on a $100M budget. And that is serious worldwide box-office business.
The Expendables 3 involves some unfinished business. As it turns out, Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), had a partner who co-founded the group with him (a new background detail sheds some light on the team’s bloody history), Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who is out to wipe out the entire team – especially Barney. The film is directed by Patrick Hughes, a young filmmaker with only two prior films to his credit. (No you never heard of either of them.) The writing team is led by Sylvester Stallone,...

The third entry in the old-school action star franchise is now upon us and they've got some new young whippersnappers along for the ride as well as a very lenient PG-13 rating. After almost being killed by his pal Barney before, Stonebanks has made it his mission put to end The Expendables, and Barney is prepared. Thanks to the way junkets work, you sometimes end up with the oddest combination of people in a room, and that was certainly the case when I attended the press day for "The Expendables 3" and found myself sitting across from Kelsey Grammer and Randy Couture. In general, it's been a pretty strange summer for Kelsey Grammer. I spoke with him when I was in Hong Kong about his work in "Transformers: Age Of Extinction," and he also had a featured role in "Think Like A Man 2." In "The Expendables 3," Grammer plays Bonaparte, the guy who Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) turns to when he's putting a new team together. He's like an agent for badass mercenaries. We discussed how wide a net he's cast this year with the roles that he's been playing, and he seems to be in a great mood about all of it. I'll be honest…...

The first The Expendables delivered when it came to violence, but the story was extraordinarily lacking in the way troubled origin stories typically are, trying to build too much back-story, forgetting why the audience is there in the first place. The Expendables 2 was a complete and utter mess, the ensemble cast grew, but that ultimately became its downfall as story gave way to characters popping up out of nowhere in an attempt to give reason for their casting, which often proved to be no more than making sure they could deliver a punchline or classic character one-liners. This trend would suggest The Expendables 3 would be damn near unwatchable as the franchise now tosses aside the R-rating and goes for a more audience friendly PG-13, which is a disappointing revelation as one of the only remaining reasons to watch these films was the elaborate violence as story never seemed to be a priority.

A routine assignment to capture a rogue arms dealer leaves Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of immortal but highly moral mercenaries beaten and diminished. Worried his personal vendetta will put his men in danger (?) Barney shelves his Expendables and hires a new team of dispensable youngsters who more properly fit the definition of “expendable.” Can he corral these upstarts long enough to capture the villainous Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), or will the more seasoned ex-expendables need to suit up once again? This is a rhetorical question. The Expendables 3 is a film at odds with itself. It’s an action film filled with dull, instantly forgettable action sequences. It’s a massive ensemble picture where the talent too frequently couldn’t be bothered to shoot scenes together. It’s meant as a loving ode to the tough, ass-kicking action films and stars of the past but has its bloodless hands tied with a PG-13 rating...

After storming Hollywood’s gates, Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables franchise has become more event than movie, as his third film cobbles together a script with blockbuster appeal being the only intent. The more characters Sly can dream up, the more opportunities he has to include A-list action names, making The Expendables 3 a bit of a genre fan’s wet dream – if it were the 1980s.

One thing I've learned about doing these on-camera junket interviews is that anything more than three people in the room can lead to chaos. In the case of this interview with the young cast from "The Expendables 3," I had four people to interview together, and it was just on the verge of devolving into total chaos. To complicate matters, there was no way I was going to jump in and try to assert any sort of control over that group of people. I was talking to Glen Powell, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Kellan Lutz, who all play new characters who are recruited by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) to replace the older Expendables, since Barney's worried that they'll get killed on an upcoming mission. If you don't know Ronda Rousey's work, let me explain. I am terrified of her. I saw her most recent Mma fight where she...

By this point, I would have been entirely unsurprised if "The Expendables 3" was somewhat lazy, unfocused, and entirely too pleased with itself. That is, after all, the way the series works. The second film may have improved on the first film, but that didn't make it a "good" movie suddenly. It was just an agreeably not-good movie. And by now, I figured that was what I would expect any time they squeezed out another one of these. And, to be clear, I think this new chapter in the series also has some weird issues, but it does indeed feel like each time they make one of these, they get closer to getting it right. I'm impressed that this is the direction they're heading, instead of just getting lazier and more diluted. None of the films have the same tone, and none of them really feel like part of a series.

The Expendables 3 is not your father’s action movie. Well, actually it probably is your father’s action movie. When you are on the third film of a franchise like The Expendables there is little doubt on what it will entail. Many have enjoyed the throwback nature of this series, and how it has made many 80’s children’s dreams come true by placing the biggest action icons into one movie. Even though many are past their prime there is still a basic novelty factor that is hard not to enjoy on a certain level.
Personally that novelty can only take me so far as I have found these films rather uninspired.

Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes and Jason Statham entertained the crowds at the world premiere for The Expendables 3 in London's Leicester Square last night (August 4).
The action stars from the adventure movie - which also included Antonio Banderas and Kellan Lutz - pulled their trademark hard-man poses on the red carpet before stopping to sign autographs for excited fans flocking outside the Odeon.
Statham, Banderas, Snipes, Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li and Terry Crews reprise their roles for the third instalment of the action series.
Kellan Lutz and Mma star Ronda Rousey are among a new young group of mercenaries enlisted as the next generation of Expendables by Barney Ross (Stallone) - but the newcomers are soon taken captive by Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), the vengeful co-founder of the group.
It's up to Ross and the classic Expendables line-up to save the recruits before Stonebanks takes his revenge.

There's only so much goodwill one can muster for the procession of dishonoured or geriatric movie icons wheeled back into service for this dismal third instalment of Sylvester Stallone's Expendables franchise. While the movie is full of death-defying escapes, all the star power in the world can't overcome two insurmountable obstacles - an abysmally structured script that sorely tests the patience and inexplicably ineffective direction that reduces big name entrances to a whimper and turns every set piece into an alienating and incoherent whirl of bangs and flashes.
The 'geri-action' genre has been widely derided, but the underrated Escape Plan and The Expendables 2 provided plenty of escapist thrills and metatextual laughs.

“Hurry up, this is boring”, is a line uttered by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the third instalment in the ever-expanding, if somewhat tiring, Expendables franchise. For a film that is full to the brim of meta, self-referential and seemingly witty one-liners, regrettably, it’s this very gem by Arnie which seems to be the most relevant.
Patrick Hughes takes over directing duties, while we see Sylvester Stallone return as Barney Ross, alongside his close associate Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) and his collective of ‘Expendables’ – who manage to free a former member, Doc (Wesley Snipes) from confinement. They need Doc’s combat skills to help them overcome their latest adversary, the evil war criminal Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who had been presumed dead. The Expendables 3 has merits, argues Duncan, but the PG-13/12A cuts have done it no favours...
It’s a strange world indeed when a film you were expecting to be an action movie highlight of the year works best as a comedy, which is especially ironic since The Expendables 3 is by far the biggest and most action packed in the series to date, both in terms of its cast and set pieces.
I’d argue that there remain few people out there who remain as invested in The Expendables franchise as this particular writer, with the heady mix of nostalgia and ultra-violence providing some sublimely over the top entertainment. What's more, it taps directly into the 80s action movie fantasy line up, that many of us dreamt of seeing back in the day. However, when Stallone shrewdly pioneered the unique concept behind The Expendables, one of the core...

Never has a film franchise been summed up quite as brilliantly as "The Expendables" franchise is summed up in the first line of the new trailer. Trust us. Right there at the outset of the trailer, Sylvester Stallone is asked, "So, our plan is to kick down the door and start spraying bullets?" Stallone responds in the affirmative and then, to prove the point, virtually the rest of the trailer offers flying bullets, thrown punches, and a few explosions just for good measure. Plus, there are a few one-liners. That is what "The Expendables" is – your favorite action stars blowing things up in big action sequences. Each film seems to repeatedly raise the ante across the board, from stars to explosions to everything else. The third film continues in that mold and features returning "Expendables" favorites along with a new crop of characters. Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li,...

If your life is low on things exploding and leathery old blokes trading quips while shooting people, the final Expendables 3 trailer is here to change all that. Take a look below to see the latest from Sly and the family Stonebanks (that pun will make more sense in a moment). In this third instalment, an old ally turned very dangerous, obsessive enemy targets Stallone’s Barney Ross. See, Colonel Stonebanks (Mel Gibson, and we told you we’d explain the joke) is his former comrade, and a co-founder of the Expendables who has turned against his old team. Barney decides to fight old blood with new, and recruits a younger crew including Kellan Lutz and Mma star Ronda Rousey. But proving that you should never send a young person to do an old person’s job, the newbies are promptly captured. What to do? If you’re Sly, you round up the regulars,...

Do not adjust your screens! The Day-glo colour of these character posters for The Expendables 3 might lead you to believe that something has gone horribly wrong with your screen, but they really are meant to look this way. Let's call it a tribute to Andy Warhol, or possibly to soup. The film of course sees Sylvester Stallone's Barney Ross and his team once again being enormously tough and testosterone-fuelled when faced with a new threat. This time, the bad guy is the presumed-dead co-founder of the Expendables, Mel Gibson's Conrad Stonebanks, who is back from the dead and out for revenge. To fight back, Ross recruits a whole new generation of ridiculously named tough mercenaries. The cast this time therefore includes returnees Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Jet Li and Arnold Schwarzenegger, but they're now joined by Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, Harrison Ford, Ronda Rousey,...

The lineup that Sylvester Stallone has pulled together for the third installment of his Expendables film series is positively insane. News
There has been no shortages of rumours over the past few years that Syvlester Stallone was considering a fifth and final Rambo film (including an alien plot being mooted at one point). And finally, it looks like it's going to happen.
Splendid Film have picked up the rights to a new Rambo film, and Sylvester Stallone will be reprising the title role, as well as penning the script. According to the statement from Splendid Film, Stallone "describes the new Rambo as his version of No Country For Old Men".
Avi Lerner is producing.
Meanwhile, Film Divider has added some more information on where Syvlester Stallone will be taking The Expendables. The site reports that he's involved in two spin-offs. There's the one we know of - The Expendabelles - and there's also a 'next generation' Expendables in the planning stages.

"The Expendables 3" is back with three times the action and 30 times the testosterone!

There is something terribly inspiring about the whistling in "Bridge on the River Kwai." Perhaps that is why we have seen it used more than once throughout the years, including in the new trailer for "The Expendables 3" which was just released this morning. That whistling is also one of the few relatively quiet moments in the trailer. As you would expect, what we got today sets up the basics of the plot – Mel Gibson and Sly's characters were the ones who created the Expendables before they had a "falling out." It also, again as expected, offers things blowing up real good. And yelling. And gunfire. And punching. And kicking. And a pretty solid motorcycle trick. Should you be looking for more details on the plot, Gibson plays Conrad Stonebanks, an arms dealer Barney Ross (Stallone) thought he had killed. Now, Stonebanks wants revenge. This third entry in the series...
