Serene Bynum

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Serene's love for the entertainment industry started at an early age watching police procedurals with her mother. Graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice checked the box for half of her upbringing and a move to Los Angeles would set a course to embrace the other. As such, she has been actively telling stories for 20+ years through various mediums: scripted television, reality television, short films, theatre, branded content, direct response, commercials and even blogging.
As a producer, Serene grasps a top-level understanding of the art, the process, the numbers and the details between prep, production and most importantly, the delicate relationship between artists, production and clients. For branded content that exceeds client expectation and telling narrative that sticks, she has learned that the best moments are captured at the intersection of solid creative planning and logistic precision. All done while leading teams empowered to do their best work.
As a director (with her own SAG card), she creates safe and exploratory environments for talent - allowing every nuance of the story to shine. Nothing gives Serene greater joy than taking someone's vision and bringing it to life.
As a writer, she believes that it is in sharing our stories we remind each other that we are all details in the fabric of humanity. A common phrase heard used by her is "We're all in this together."
Serene has spent the better part of 10 years in producing commercials and directing b-roll for spots ranging from cars to fitness, supplements, tech and beauty products all with a real-person sensibility approach, delivering quality assets at or (often) below budget.
Serene has produced short films that premiered at Cannes Film Festival and Venice Film Festival; won a Bronze Clio Award for a Warner Media's TBS/TNT brand campaign; and was nominated for a Webby for the Apple 14 iPhone launch.
