"Teen Titans Go!" is a bit of a controversial cartoon among fans, as it is a much more comedic, kid-friendly version of the 2003 "Teen Titans" cartoon (which was darker and more anime-inspired). Some fans see "Teen Titans Go!" as representative of the uber-commercialization of art, a cash-grab of a show with none of the heart of the original. Of course, to think that would be to ignore one of the most subversive, hilarious, and most of all, bizarre superhero animated shows to date.
Then there's the movie, which gave us some of the best moments in a DC film (like Robin enthusiastically pushing Thomas and Martha Wayne into Crime Alley so Batman can exist), but also the TV show itself which stands alongside "Regular Show" and "Flapjack" as often breaking Cartoon Network's "no weird" rule. There are episodes where Robin teaches the Titans about equity, pyramid schemes, and even the IRS.

Joaquin Phoenix is coming back soon as Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux. While it won’t be the first superhero musical, it certainly is one of its kind in recent years. Starring Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel, a.k.a. Harley Quinn, the movie is expected to be filled with several memorable scenes, both entertaining and grotesque, apart from several songs.
Joker 2 promises a crazy ride with the two characters
Apart from the two titular characters and actors, the British-Irish comedian and actor, Steve Coogan is also included in Joker 2’s ensemble cast. And those who know the violent ending of Joker will figure out what Coogan’s teased scene from the upcoming movie might feature.

This Spider-Man article contains spoilers.
Every comic book fan knows about the night that Gwen Stacy died. The two-part story from 1973’s Amazing Spider-Man #121–122 stands as a watershed moment in comics, not only upping the stakes of Spider-Man’s inability to balance his personal and heroic lives, but also giving permission for superhero comics to push the envelope in a way that had not been done since the pre-Comics Code days.
For most of Spider-Man’s history, Gwen fell into the same category as Thomas and Martha Wayne or (pre-Superboy punch) Jason Todd. She existed only to die, to give tragic backstory to our hero. Decades before Major Force killed Alex DeWitt in Green Lantern #54, Gwen was the patron saint of fridged girlfriends. Her death hangs over the entire story of Spider-Man, even when played by the sparkling Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man movies. The writers know we expect...

Everyone knows why Bruce Wayne became the Dark Knight. The story of Thomas and Martha Wayne has been played so much that it’s eye-rolling whenever those events are recalled. Interestingly enough, there’s never been a true intimate focus on Bruce Wayne’s psyche following the traumatic events of his parent’s death. Fox’s Gotham is the closest live-action series to document Bruce Wayne’s story after that moment, but the focus is never fully on him. Before Wayne even thinks about becoming Batman, a very personal story of how the DC hero battled through trauma and pain could open up layers about the man

The Caped Crusader. The Dark Knight. The World’s Greatest Detective. The Bat. He is vengeance. He is the night. He is, of course, Bruce Wayne – aka Batman. And for 84 years and counting, ever since his introduction in Detective Comics #27 on 30 March 1939, Bill Finger and Bob Kane’s Guardian of Gotham City continues to dominate popular culture.
A superhero with no actual superpowers (except for fat stacks of Benjamins), Bats is – in essence – just a man trying to turn his pain into something positive; a vigilante in a cowl and cape who’s capable of evolving with the times to be whatever kind of hero the moment asks for. It’s no wonder such a dynamic array of filmmakers – from Leslie H. Martinson to Tim Burton among many, many others – have been inspired to send up the Bat-signal on the big screen in live-action and animation over the years.

Not everyone is a fan of James Gunn, with some seeming the former Marvel superstar unfit to head DC. Now, tweets from more than a decade ago – you know, when it was called Twitter – have resurfaced in which James Gunn openly bashes the Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan iterations of Batman, with calls for DC co-ceo to be fired.
Uncovered by XsnyderverseX, the tweets in question show James Gunn’s utter contempt for some of the most popular movies in the Batman franchise. On Burton’s 1989 blockbuster, he wrote, “The Tim Burton Batman is poorly written, the soundtrack is the worst work of everyone involved, and it is absolutely one of the most boring films ever.” Before we go further, we can all agree that Prince had no business being involved with the film, right? He went on to say that the reveal of the Joker being responsible for the...

Video games can break your heart. It is a business built on creativity, scheduling, manpower, collaboration, and customer demand. Not everything works out. A company can have a brilliant concept and all the talent, but due to a few bad decisions or lack of funds, it could come out as a husk of what it was meant to be.
At least those failed games get to hit the shelf, though. Some dreams lead to dead ends. Amazing game designs never see the light of day for one reason or another. Maybe you have an interesting idea for a Mario spinoff that Nintendo shoots down. Maybe you put work into a game based on a popular movie that the higher-ups decide is not economically viable. Maybe your violent fighting game is nixed because the people you work for are bought out by another company who do not agree with your vision.

This article contains spoilers for The Flash.
It took about a decade, but finally, Warner Bros. got its Flash solo movie in theaters, with Ezra Miller reprising their role as the Fastest Man in the DC Universe. While the movie’s very disappointing box office return thus far likely means we’ll never get a proper sequel, The Flash does leave a few loose ends that would have presumably been addressed in the next installment. One cliffhanger in particular has even spawned a major online fan theory that just so happens to have been confirmed by director Andy Muschietti himself, leaving us daydreaming about what could have been.
Although The Flash is heavily inspired by 2011’s fan-favorite comic book Flashpoint by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert, Muschietti branched out with a different version of events. But one thing the director kept from the source material was the death of Nora...

There are very few comic-book movies that have gone through the development hell that The Flash has gone through over the past decade, but it seems as though fans will finally get to see their favorite scarlet speedster get his own standalone film. With the DC adaptation set to premiere in June, as well as two trailers being dropped with massive implications about what the movie will hold for DC’s future, it’s safe to say that fans are already counting down the minutes until they can race to the theaters to see it.
All of that being said, there is a huge question mark looming over the superhero movie that unfortunately won’t be answered for seemingly years to come. James Gunn, the new co-ceo of DC Studios and the man at the helm of the new Dcu, stated back in January that The Flash will be “resetting...

More often than not, the privileged ones of societal hierarchy use their nefarious instruments to keep their status quo intact and to do so, they incriminate the hapless downtrodden ones. The sixth episode of the CW’s Gotham Knights reflects on that aspect, as the titular team of amateur crime fighters learn that they weren’t the only victims of the Court of Owl’s conspiracies. In the previous episode, we saw Harvey Dent gradually sinking inside the quicksand of the Court’s schemes, and the team recovered the ledgers of the McKillen crime family, which can help them prove the Court’s involvement in Gotham’s corruption as well as clear their names in the process.

“You want to get nuts? Come on, let’s get nuts.” It’s one of Michael Keaton’s most famous lines in the original Batman movie of 1989. And as directed by Tim Burton, there’s a playful mischief about the reading of it too; at last, the actor is allowed to go big, and the zeal in his eye betrays a certain degree of madness beneath all that brooding.
In the new trailer for this summer’s The Flash, it’s now also been reworked as a major callback, with Keaton delivering the same dialogue with all the solemnity of scripture. And to some, it might be just that—as are the many other mementos of Keaton’s tenure as the Dark Knight in the trailer: a closet full of batsuits from both Batman and Batman Returns, as well as seemingly many adventures that are hitherto unknown. There is also...

The latest Warner Animated DC feature film adapts the 2000-2001 Elseworlds miniseries Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham. The fun of the Elseworlds comics, and soon the live-action versions under the new artistic regime, is taking the familiar and imagining them in other times and other places. Here, we do back to the early 20th century and overlay it with a dose of Loftcraftian horror.
Cowritten by Mike Mignola and Richard Pace, two men better known for their artistic skills, this story was designed for visual impact, something Troy Nixey did well in print, and the animators from Jase Ricci’s script and co-directed by Sam Liu and Christopher Berkeley, replicate nicely.
Basically, an arctic expedition headed by Bruce Wayne (David Giuntoli), sent to check on a previous team led by Professor Oswald Cobblepot (William Salyers) reveals horrors and a missing professor. The only surviving is Grendon (David Dastmalchian...

"Batman: The Animated Series" is one of the crowning achievements of American animation. To this day, it's remembered for its atmospheric art design (homaging Fleischer Studios' Superman cartoons) and mature storytelling — even if it never forgot its young target audience along the way. The series' star, the late, legendary Kevin Conroy, is the definitive voice of the Dark Knight for a generation, while Harley Quinn, who was created for the series, has become the most successful DC Comics character who didn't originate in the comics.
The series' success meant its creative team shaped Batman in animation for the next decade. In 1993, the series led to the theatrical film, "Mask of the Phantasm," which took everything great about the series and pushed it further. While "Batman: The Animated Series" ended in 1995, it became only the first installment in the DC Animated Universe, which culminated wiith "Justice League Unlimited," which ran from...

The CW’s Gotham Knights wasted no time throwing us into a shocking mystery, one that will see the scions of Batman’s most notorious foes — and no less than Bruce Wayne’s adopted son — attempt to clear their names.
The non-Arrowverse series’ premiere opens with a brooding Turner Hayes (played by Oscar Morgan) mid-monologue; as Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, he’s seemingly got all he could ever want. Except, as he phrases it, “a reason why.”

The Flash might be the fastest man alive, but it feels like his movie has been traveling in slow motion ever since it was first announced back in ... October 2014?!
Yes, Barry Allen's first solo adventure has taken almost a decade to make his way to theaters -- even longer, if you count previous attempts to make a movie about the Flash. Turbulent times in the DC Extended Universe and a global pandemic kept "The Flash" locked away in development hell for years, and when star Ezra Miller began making headlines for all the wrong reasons, many wondered if the movie would be released at all.
Now, we're just a few months away from "The Flash" landing in theaters, about five years after it was originally slated for release. That's kind of fitting, since there was a running gag in the comics about how Barry Allen was chronically late to everything.

Pennyworth concluded its shocking third season on HBO Max last week, and we're still trying to process the ending.
Just when it seemed like all of the focal characters had found some semblance of happiness, a bomb seemingly decimated London, setting the stage for a very different fourth season.
TV Fanatic got the chance to chat with Emma Paetz, who plays Martha Wayne on the Batman prequel series.
Check out the interview below.
It's been a rough season for Martha and Thomas, but they ended things on a positive note. Did you expect that to happen?
I never quite know where the scripts are going. I'm really bad at predicting, but yeah, I agree with you that they do end, I think, kind of stronger and more solid in their relationship than we've sort of ever seen them be actually out of like a huge period of tension.

Did you know that Batman's famous and devout Butler, Alfred Pennyworth, has his own spy show on HBO Max (after airing on Epix) from the creators of "Gotham"? And it's on season 3? Maybe the recent extended retitling of "Pennyworth" to "Pennyworth: The Origins of Batman's Butler" could alert you to that.
In 1960s London with alternative sameish-but-different history, former British Sas soldier, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon) sought to found his own security company. After countless delays, it’s beginning to feel like Warner Bros.’ long-gestating The Flash movie is never actually going to see the light of day. But the studio wants to keep the hype train rolling anyway. WB has just unveiled new footage from The Flash at this year’s CinemaCon, and the big focus is (unsurprisingly) the return of Michael Keaton as Batman. The promo even shows Keaton back in the Batsuit for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns.
The audience attending the Las Vegas event were also treated to glimpses of Wayne Manor, “iconic” Batsuits from the hero’s past, and the new Batcycle, which is described as being like the Batpod from The Dark Knight films but with two wheels at the front, according to IGN. The footage also shows Keaton’s Bruce living like a recluse inside his mansion, with long hair and a beard now adorning his aged face.

The Batman introduced an interesting element to Thomas and Martha Wayne that deserves some more exploration. As a spoiler warning, this article will feature some notes about the Matt Reeves vehicle, so avoid reading this if you still haven’t seen The Batman yet. Plot twist! The Dark Knight is officially back. On Friday, March 4, "The Batman" starring Robert Pattinson officially hit theaters. The new film sees the billionaire Bruce Wayne masking up as the Batman as he works with lieutenant James Gorden (Jeffrey Wright) and Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) to track down the Riddler (Paul Dano) using a series of cryptic messages left behind by the villain. Along the way, the Caped Crusader comes face to face with two other adversaries: the Penguin (Colin Farrell) and Carmine Falcone (John Turturro). While the film is packed with riddles for the masked vigilante to solve, one of the biggest questions fans are always left with as the end credits role on a superhero film is the same. So, is there a clip at the end of "The Batman"? Let's break it down.
Is There an End-Credit Scene at the End of "The Batman"?

Thomas and Martha Wayne may just be some of the most-killed characters on screen ever. And yes, they’re still killed in “The Batman” — fans just won’t have to watch it happen this time.
Though co-writer/director Matt Reeves’ story of the Caped Crusader will show Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson) in early years as Batman — and definitely still haunted by the death of his parents — it appears we won’t be getting the traumatic flashback of Bruce’s life this time. In their latest cover story, EW confirms prior rumblings that “the movie doesn’t show the death of his parents.”
So no, we don’t have to watch Martha Wayne’s pearl necklace clatter to the pavement in slow motion, yet again. And that’s not the only shift away from a typical Batman film. Bruce himself won’t necessarily be the Bruce that fans are used to getting either.

Since donning the garb of the caped crusader in director Matt Reeves' "The Batman," Robert Pattinson has provided considerable insight into his thought process behind bringing the role to life, including Batman's no-kill rule. For instance, Pattinson's views on Batman administering "bad self-therapy" offered us more insight into the primary narrative of the new movie, in which the story will (thankfully) not be rehashing the Thomas and Martha Wayne death scene, and offer a direct view into Bruce's post-trauma psyche.

Spotify has completed casting on its upcoming Batman Unburied scripted podcast series.
Jane the Virgin and Diary of a Future President star Gina Rodriguez will join the cast to voice Barbara Gordon.
The actor, who has featured on Netflix’s animated series Big Mouth, will play the daughter of former police commissioner Jim Gordon and star detective for Gotham Pd. Throughout the series, Barbara will grapple with her own ethics, as she tries to keep within the lines of police work yet is finding herself drawn to Batman’s self-styled method of justice.
She said she was excited to be going on this “sonic adventure” with the “iconic” role.
She joins a cast that already includes Winston Duke as Bruce Wayne and Jason Isaacs as Wayne’s loyal butler and right-hand man, Alfred.

Superhero movies have been around long enough that audiences are understandably starting to grow bored of a frequently recurring trope within them: the origin story.
There are only so many times one can watch Uncle Ben die, or Thomas and Martha Wayne die, or Punisher’s whole family die (wow a lot of these have to do with death) before it gets old. Thankfully, the Marvel Cinematic Universe understands audiences’ superhero origin fatigue. Of Marvel’s 25 feature films, well over half are sequel or team-up efforts. Still, when introducing a new character to the world, sometimes an origin story is unavoidable.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings is just the latest in a long line of MCU origin stories dating all the way back to Iron Man in 2008. How does Shang-Chi compare to its peers? There’s only one way to find out.
That’s right, we’re ranking ‘em.

In a surprising addition to the superhero discourse this week, fans have been taking to Twitter and other social media platforms in an effort to offer their two cents when it comes (or not) to whether Batman and other heroes perform cunnilingus.
How did this happen? Well, it all started with a fairly straightforward interview about how successful TV series like WandaVision, The Umbrella Academy, and Harley Quinn subvert the superhero genre – one that happened to produce an irresistible nugget of DC info that the internet is still very much feasting on at the time of writing.
Obviously it’s an interviewer’s dream when the person you’re quizzing dishes up some behind the scenes secrets about the making of their art, but Harley Quinn co-creator Justin Halpern probably wasn’t expecting the widespread social media reaction to this new interview,...

Zack Snyder’s name remains prominently connected to his lengthy redux of Justice League as well as his preceding DC Comics movies. This week, it’s his first DC outing that’s back in the spotlight: 2009’s Watchmen, a superhero movie that, despite its disconnect from the main DC Universe, bears a reference to Batman, an easter egg that has long been the center of speculation.
In the process of promoting his new Netflix gore-fest, Army of the Dead, Snyder takes viewers to “Snyder School” in an analytical video that looks back at the opening sequences from some of his past films, most pertinently, Watchmen. There, he confirms that one scene in particular from the film’s famously lengthy expository opening montage establishes a direct connection to the main DC Comics universe, specifically the existence of Gotham City, the wealthy Wayne family, and, by virtue of that, their son, Bruce.

This article contains spoilers for Zack Snyder’s Justice League and other DC movies.
The timeline of the DC Extended Universe began in a fairly clear manner, with most of the events of Man of Steel set in 2013. As more films were released, containing flashbacks, or lacking a clear chronological setting, things became increasingly complicated. And by the time we got to Birds of Prey film, its precise placement in the Dceu is downright murky. But there are contextual in-universe clues in the form of media, gravestones, mugshot photos, or throwaway lines of dialogue that provide some clarity.
With the long-awaited release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League hitting HBO Max, it’s a good time to break down what we know so far about when some significant moments in Dceu history took place.

(Some spoilers ahead for “Wonder Woman 1984”)
Everything is a franchise these days, especially when it comes to nerdy megablockbusters. The Marvel Cinematic Universe changed so much about the landscape of Hollywood, and so DC Comics naturally tried to replicate its massive success with its own slate of interconnected comic book movies.
Things haven’t quite worked out the same way for the Dceu, with the whole thing kinda blowing up after “Justice League.” But the shared universe of films based on DC Comics still exists, and “Aquaman,” “Shazam,” “Birds of Prey” and now “Wonder Woman 1984” are a part of it. Things are less connected now, with no obvious crossover in sight, but the films still tend to nod to each other.
But is that the case with “Wonder Woman 1984”? It’s set well outside of the time periods of any of the other Dceu films. That was...

The comic book genre has never found death to be a particularly difficult obstacle to overcome, and in the case of characters who always stay dead like Batman’s parents, we’ll just be forced to watch Thomas and Martha Wayne get gunned down in a Gotham City alleyway every few years or so instead.
Robert Downey Jr. is the biggest name, highest-paid star, launchpad for the entire franchise and focal point of the marketing for every movie he appeared in, so even though he gracefully bowed out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the end of Avengers: Endgame, the 55 year-old is always going to find himself linked with a return, especially when Tony Stark’s shadow continues to loom large over the interconnected comic book series.

Batman and Spider-Man have arguably the most famous origin stories in the history of comic books, and at this stage, we really don’t need to see either of them ever again. While that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros. from gunning down Thomas and Martha Wayne in an alleyway in both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Joker, Marvel Studios made the wise decision to omit Uncle Ben entirely from their rebooted franchise.
Of course, there’ve been many direct references to Peter Parker’s uncle during his time as part of the McU, but audiences have already seen him meet his untimely demise twice before. Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark was a more than adequate replacement to step into the role of the rookie superhero’s mentor and father figure as well, but Ben Parker has nonetheless been linked with a flashback appearance several times already.

A Joker sequel hasn’t officially been announced, but it’s got to be a foregone conclusion that it’s on the way, given the monumental success of the original on any front you care to mention. On Sept. 28, 1985 the world got a glimpse of what could have been a very different Batman animated series. The fourth episode of that year’s incarnation of Hanna-Barbera’s long running Super Friends animated series (Super Powers: Galactic Guardians) is “The Fear.” Unlike previous episodes, it wasn’t focused on the Justice League and their ongoing battle against cosmic forces of evil, but instead was firmly grounded in Gotham City and a battle between Batman and the Scarecrow.

Todd Phillips’ Joker was an entirely different comic book movie than the action-packed epics that audiences have become accustomed to over the last two decades, and while it largely told an original story, it still connected to the established Batman mythology. At this point, fans would be okay if they never had to see Thomas and Martha Wayne gunned down in an alley again, but it did at least inform Arthur Fleck’s character arc instead of simply providing an overly familiar scenario with no context.
Of course, the entire point of making Joker was to create a standalone entity that wasn’t forced into being part of a shared universe, but that hasn’t stopped rumors from making the rounds that Joaquin Phoenix was being courted to join the Dceu. After all, with The Flash set to open up the franchise’s multiverse, the highest-grossing R-rated movie in history...

Matt Reeves sees Gotham City as an experiment. Which is to say in his version of the Dark Knight mythos, Bruce Wayne is just starting out in his war on crime and the Batman isn’t even sure what he can accomplish yet. Plus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is about to be one very busy fella.
Earlier this year, we heard that Morgan was being considered for a role in season 3 of Amazon’s superhero series The Boys and last week, showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that the actor was in talks for an undisclosed part. It’s important to note that Kripke made clear that they’ll have to juggle things with his Twd commitments, but the fact that he’s...
