Batwoman alum Dougray Scott “absolutely” refutes allegations made by his onetime TV daughter, Ruby Rose, about his on-set behavior.
Amid a sea of Wednesday-morning Instagram Stories, Rose admitted that she “fought people on set, yes, not because I wanted to but because I wanted safety” — yet “never raised my voice on a set” during her one-season run. Conversely, Kate Kane’s former portrayer alleged that Scott (who played Jacob Kane through Season 2) “hurt a female stunt double” and “yelled like a little bitch at women and was a nightmare. He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted [and verbally] abused women.

Declaring “Enough is enough,” former Batwoman star Ruby Rose has come forth with a new wave of allegations about the circumstances leading to her exit from the Warner Bros. TV series — while also insisting she didn’t “quit” but was forced out.
In a series of Instagram Stories posted early Wednesday morning, Rose led off by tagging Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries plus exec producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, saying, “I will come for you so what happened to me never happens to another person again. And so I can finally take back my life and the truth. Shame on you.

Former “Batwoman” star Ruby Rose aired out several allegations of wrongdoing on the set of the CW show, which they say led to their departure in May 2020.
In a series of posts on Instagram on Wednesday, Rose claims they were forced to continue work on the DC series shortly after suffering a neck injury on set. After posting pictures and video in the hospital, Rose wrote:
“To everyone who said I was too stiff on bawoman [sic], imagine going back to work 10 days after this … 10 Days!!!!!! Robin Givens is making a beeline for Gotham City!
Deadline reports that the Riverdale and Ambitions actress has joined the cast of Batwoman Season 3.
Givens has been added to the cast Jada Jet, the powerful CEO of Jet Industries.
Jet is described as a “passionate and hard-working woman” who has “worked her way through life’s ups and downs to climb her way to the top, all while being extremely protective of her impetuous son."
"A woman with a deep past that forced her to give up her first-born child, Jada is a woman with a good heart, but will do whatever it takes to protect her family.”
With that character breakdown, it's easy to assume that Jada Jet could be the mother of Ryan Wilder, the titular superhero played by Javicia Leslie.

This Batwoman article contains spoilers through Season 2, Episode 15, “Armed and Dangerous.”
In the previous episode, Batwoman put Luke in the literal crosshairs of white Crows in an inevitable conflict between a Black man and a trigger happy cop. The circumstances that led there were messy and didn’t make much sense, but the Crows shooting an unarmed Black person was a narrative certainty—the logical apex of the season-long arc surrounding the Crows. When Luke uncharacteristically tries to stop Eli, a white man, from stealing a car—a fairly harmless crime—Crows pull up and assume Luke is the thief. We know what happens next, Luke is shot twice and near-fatally wounded. Luke is barely hanging on, and is offered the choice in his subconsciousness purgatory whether to return to the land of the living or be with his dad in the afterlife.
When Ryan and Mary learn what happened,...

Last week, False Faces ambushed the Crows and abducted Angelique, leaving several Crows dead and Jacob Kane fuming. In this week’s “Arrive Alive,” the masked gang is pulling heists at pharmaceutical companies across the city, all in an effort to create more Snakebite. Batwoman and Sophie are both looking to stop them, and to save Angelique in the process, but when Batwoman intercepts a False Face driver during a heist who turns out to be an undercover Sophie, she ruins the mission and they lose their one lead on Angelique. Failure to catch up with Black Mask gets Sophie replaced as lead on the investigation, setting up a Sophie-centric episode that ends with a game-changing discovery for her character and the show.

It's almost overwhelming how many potential plot twists are introduced on Batwoman Season 2 Episode 10.
The fact that Enigma is working with Black Mask now when she is also a key member of Safiyah's Many Arms of Death is, in itself, a sinister snarl in this most tangled of webs.
Furthermore, her understanding of Snakebite feels like they might be reconning the original introduction of the drug where they described it as being based heavily on Scarecrow's fear toxin.
One thing this offering did well was explain why Jacob's storyline has been spiraling into unfathomable depths since the season began.
Jacob Kane has been a hard-line black-and-white pain-in-the-butt since the start.
That's not to say that he hasn't suffered horrendous loss but instead of learning to cope in healthy matters, his strategy has been to close himself off more with each tragedy.
To do the math, he had one wife die...

Batwoman Season 2, Episode 4
Batwoman is using its new protagonist to tell stories that matter about the people superheroes (and superhero shows) forget. It is also, simultaneously, trying to keep the audience invested in characters whose stories have run their course. Kate Kane might not be dead, but she should be. After Alice’s and Sophie’s visit with Safiyah where she revealed that Kate is alive, the search for her is in full force. Mary is hesitant to have hope because she’s already accepted the finality of Kate’s death. Luke, on the other hand, has never conceded, and takes Safiyah’s word at face value.
Alice and Sophie are tasked with finding a man named Ocean for Safiyah, in exchange for Kate’s safe return. And while it makes sense for both of them to want Kate back, each for their own reasons,...

In this week’s episode of Batwoman, a contract killer is let loose on Gotham, and Ryan has to stop them before they set their sights on Mary. I want to first give kudos to the writers for being intentionally inclusive with their verbiage but not self-congratulating when they are. Zsasz, the killer in question, is a fun creep of the week, just committing murders all willy nilly and not bringing any politics or personal feelings to the job. The Wonderland Gang won’t be the only criminals Batwoman’s Ryan Wilder goes up against in Season 2 of The CW series. Ryan, who seeks justice after several of Alice’s cronies murdered her mom in cold blood, will also work to hold members of the Crows accountable for their actions.
In an exclusive sneak peek at Episode 2, Ryan finds herself being interrogated by Sophie about her potential involvement in a convenience store robbery. After surveillance footage clears her of the crime, she calls out the Crows for constantly pulling her in for questioning while Alice, a known murderer, continues to run amok.

Batwoman 2.0 is just a few weeks away.
The CW has unveiled plot details for Batwoman Season 2 Episode 1, and it sheds light on the missing Kate Kane, as well as the new hero, played by Javicia Leslie.
Leslie is on board as Ryan Wilder, a brand new character, and will make her first appearance on the January 17 premiere, which is titled "What Happened to Kate Kane."
"As friends and family hold on to hope that Kate may still be found, a homeless 25-year-old named Ryan Wilder stumbles upon Kate’s Batsuit," the official logline for Leslie's debut reads.
"Focused on no longer being a victim, Ryan takes the suit to use as armor and goes rogue in the streets of Gotham, taking out various members of a new gang called the False Face Society."
It certainly sounds like we're delving straight into the deep end with Ryan as she suits up...

We’re looking forward to the return of The CW’s Batwoman, which will launch its second season on Sunday, January 17th. Of course, the big change this year is the replacement of Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane with Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder, who will be taking up the mantle of the titular hero. And with the premiere date coming up soon, we’ve just received a synopsis for the opening episode and a new poster, which you can catch below.
As is to be expected, “What Happened to Kate Kane?” will kick off the sophomore outing for the show by dealing with Rose’s exit and how Wilder takes over as the lead. There’ll also be efforts made to build on the storylines introduced at the end of the first season, including the introduction of Tommy Doyle/Hush, and whatever is now going to happen with Kane’s twin sister Alice.

With the success of Gotham, not to mention the more recent Elseworlds, this latest addition to the DC family was up against it – and that’s without the added burden of one of the biggest and best-loved franchises in comic book history. So, how does Batwoman fare?
Unclear in terms of its direction, dynamics and overall place in the microcosm that is Gotham City, the verdict is as bleak as a chilly night at the summit of its tallest skyscraper.
Most of the cast put in decent enough performances. As Batwoman/Kate Kane, Ruby Rose grows into the role as the episodes tick by, but the star turn has to be Rachel Skarsten as chief villain Alice. Batwoman executive producers Caroline Dries and Sarah Schechter and cast members Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson and Nicole Kang were on hand at DC FanDome to talk about the upcoming season of the DC TV series, but more importantly, they were all there to welcome Javicia Leslie, who will be donning the cowl as the titular iconic superhero.
In the first conversation between Leslie and the cast, the actress talked about what it meant to her playing Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman.
“When I read the character description its was definitely me,” she said of the role. Leslie loved the idea that Wilder is a mix of goofy, badass and a woman who doesn’t like being told what to do. She joked, “I love the fact that Ryan is who I am — just a hot mess!”

Police brutality has gone from a niche concern – one most white people considered impolite to bring up at dinner parties – to a compulsory national conversation. It’s long overdue, which has left many playing catch-up, especially white folks and popular media. As David Dennis Jr. pointed out in his excellent Twitter thread superhero shows have an especially tall order, given that they rely on portraying lawlessness and a fictionalized criminality that the hero can then clamp down on. But that image is out of touch with reality and can send damaging messages.
We’ve long discussed this problematic aspect of the genre in our reviews and features, whether it’s Barry Allen’s personal private prison kept in the basement of Star Labs or Oliver Queen’s incredibly short-lived interest in reforming the prison industrial complex…before he went right back to adding more people to it. Recap: Before we get into the season finale, let’s recap what happened last week:
Kate and Luke had a fight over trusting Julia Pennyworth when Luke found out that Julia was let go from her job as a spy for a British government agency for going Awol. Kate still wants to trust her, but Luke feels Julia has ulterior motives. They all eventually make up at the end of the episode but trust in Julia is waning, especially when she tells Kate that a new mysterious villain is looking to kill not only Batwoman but also Julia. Alice, Mouse, and Hush (in full comic-book costume!) have formed a tentative but hostile alliance, which is kidnapping linguists to decipher the code in Lucius Fox’s journal. No one can crack the...

This article contains major Batwoman spoilers.
Just like in the comics, the CW’s Batwoman started in the long shadow of Batman’s absence. Gotham didn’t know why their hero had forsaken them, and Kate missed her favorite cousin dearly. But through a complicated series of events, Batwoman and her team rose to fill the void and give Gotham hope again.
For some fans, the question has always been “But where is Bruce Wayne?” Some have been hoping for a glimpse of one of DC’s most famous and beloved heroes in live action on the small screen since Oliver Queen first started shooting tennis balls in a basement. During its season 1 finale, Batwoman made good and gave us a couple of glimpses of Bruce Wayne, albeit in a nontraditional way.
Is Bruce Wayne really on Batwoman?
Just to be clear, no. Well, not yet? We can’t say...

Hopefully Batwoman‘s Jacob Kane has on his Kevlar vest, because daughter Kate is about to hit him with not one but two incredible truth bombs.
In the above sneak peek from this Sunday’s episode of the freshman Arrowverse series, titled “Off With Her Head” and airing at 8/7c on The CW, Kate (played by Ruby Rose) has just delivered to her father (Dougray Scott) at least a partial version of the truth about the Beth that got snuffed by a sniper a few weeks back.

After a week off, Batwoman is back this week with a villain that is eerily similar to Batman’s arch nemesis, the Joker, but while the idea was good, the result was lackluster.
The story of our new villain, Duela Dent (Alessandra Torresani), starts in 2012 as she stands in the mirror applying makeup. Her mother, who has her own issues, berates her and body shames her own daughter, resulting in Duela punching the mirror and using a shard of glass to make a Joker-like smile on her own face. The social commentary regarding appearance and how we all perceive ourselves is a nice change of pace for a villain and very poignant in our society today.
Duela doesn’t just disfigure herself though, she decides to take on all the models that call Gotham home.

Over the past seven years, The CW has introduced several DC Comics-inspired TV series and the network hasn't cancelled any of them. Will Batwoman, The CW's second female superhero series, be a success? Will Batwoman be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
An action mystery series, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Nicole Kang, Rachel Skarsten, Dougray Scott, and Elizabeth Anweis. The show is based on the DC Comics character and revolves around Kate Kane (Rose), a strong woman who never planned to be Gotham's new vigilante. After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home to Gotham City when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father, Jacob Kane (Scott), and his security firm. They kidnap his best Crow officer, Kate's ex-girlfriend Sophie Moore (Tandy). In order to help her family and her...

This Sunday in Batwoman‘s fall finale, Alice finally hosted her “mad tea party” — from which one of her guests left in a body bag.
This time targeting the woman whose act of deception years ago stopped Jacob Kane from searching for his missing, presumed-dead daughter, Alice laid siege to a gala honoring Catherine Hamilton-Kane — hijacking the TelePrompTer to force out a public confession (about her tech company manufacturing bad guns that land in the hands of bad people), and then revealing that the guest of honor had been poisoned on her limo ride over.

“Thank you… Kate.” With those three words, The CW’s Batwoman (airing Sundays at 8/7c) added Sophie Moore to the very short list of people who know the true identity of Gotham’s new vigilante. But will Sophie rush to share the intel with Crows boss (and Kate’s father) Jacob Kane? Will she sit on it a bit? Or is there a third possible option?
TVLine spoke with Meagan Tandy about Sophie’s choice, how new flashbacks will shed new light on the break-up that broke Kate’s heart, and much more.

Oh, ick. Batwoman Season 1 Episode 5 lands a lot of emotional punches, but its first is the gag-inducing intro of Alice peeling patches of skin off of corpse thighs. Urgh.
But it definitely got our attention. And Luke's. And Batwoman's.
And it's nicely timed for Halloween, I guess.
This was Alice's episode from start to finish. No VotW to muddy the waters. Not even a heist (besides the skin thing) to boost the action.
Even the scenes that didn't directly feature Alice or her backstory still involved Alice and her backstory.

You may know me from my weekly review of Black Lightning (also on the CW network) but being an avid Batman fan, both comics and film, I was interested when a Batwoman television series was announced. I have no expectations for this series so let’s take it one week at a time because no one wants to read a review, much less watch the series, if this follows the downward spiral of the Arrow series.

The funny thing about TV pilots is that they kind of seem like old news before they even air. Think about it: we see promos with footage taken from them throughout the summertime and most discussion is spent talking about the debut episode in particular. With that, any chance to address the installment to follow comes as a breath of fresh air.
If you share that sentiment, then you may be excited to begin previewing Batwoman‘s second episode, which happens to be titled “The Rabbit Hole.” Those of you who are familiar with the comics will immediately begin drawing connections to Kate Kane’s sister/nemesis, Alice, but let’s come back to her in a moment, shall we?

The CW has shared a new poster for the upcoming DC series Batwoman and it features Ruby Rose's Kate Kane in full costume ready to pounce on some villains. The tagline on the poster reads, “Her Time is Now”. As you know this is going to be a very woman powered themed series. As long as the story turns out good and the creative team does a solid job of bringing the character to life, I don’t care. Judging by some of the feedback I’ve seen, though, some people don’t like how the feminist aspect of the show is so in your face and that comes from both male and female fans. We’ll see how it turns out, though. I’ll give it a shot.
Here’s the description of the upcoming series:

The CW is launching two new dramas this fall, and the young-skewing network has just unveiled posters for both.
We'll start with Nancy Drew because who doesn't love a good mystery?
Well, that's what the official key art is trying to imply.
"Everyone loves a good mystery," is what the poster says, and it makes a great point.
"Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) is a brilliant teenaged detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine – until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans," reads the official description for the series.

The Arrowverse is about to get even bigger. The fifth series set in The CW’s shared DC multiverse (not including the disconnected Black Lightning) is coming this fall in the form of Batwoman. Ruby Rose stars as the cousin of Bruce Wayne who shares his affinity for dressing up like a flying rodent and protecting the streets of Gotham City. And apparently, her time is now, according to this new poster for the show.
The stylish one-sheet captures Kate Kane in costume, cape billowing around her, perching on an iron bridge branded with the Bat-symbol. Behind her, meanwhile, is the Gotham skyline at night.
