Conceptual illustrator Alfonso De La Torre ("Green Lantern") posted some rather interesting pieces of concept art he created for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness. The first two are of an alien horse and the third is an alien bug. The original plan was to have James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) encounter one of these two creatures instead of the beast that he stuns and then quickly finds out from Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (Karl Urban) was their getaway vehicle. Alfonso De La Torre explained, "Originally, they wanted to design an alien horse, but in the end they scrapped the idea and I think they used the snow creature from the first movie, but with a different surface treatment."
