While browsing the used DVD rack at my local video store, I came across something called I Kissed a Vampire. A little over two years old, the film's cover art featured some gothed-out teenagers with fangs posed like a Harlequin romance cover, and the box blurb read something along the lines of "It's a love child between Glee and Twilight!"
How's a girl to resist?
I had never heard of this project before, but apparently it was a popular web series in its heyday and it garnered quite a following of pre-teen musical fans. The timing of it couldn't have been more impeccable, and if the film had been pitched in the early 2000s, it likely wouldn't have gotten greenlit at all. But the producers and creators struck while the iron was hot...

It's been months and months since we last provided an update on the rock musical I Kissed a Vampire, but word came today that the film has a brand new trailer and is being released at the end of this month. Read on for the details.
Synopsis:
In the vein of High School Musical, a desperate teen tries to save himself and the girl he loves after discovering he's transforming into a vampire. Haunted by bizarre dreams about Goth rocker Trey Sylvania (Drew Seeley) and experiencing a growing lust for blood, Dylan (Lucas Grabeel), a not-so-average teenager, finds himself transforming into a vampire! It all started when he was bitten by a voracious fanged exchange student, and it's a process he is desperate to stop - but how? His demented dentist can't do anything about Dylan's aching teeth and emerging fangs, and the anti-bloodsucking pills he gets from his para-psychologist just give him a rash.

Ikav Movie PosterWhenever this reviewer sees horror and musicals combined there is only one word, or maybe three - wtf?! I Kissed a Vampire dares to be a little different by blending these two genres and in doing so something magical happens. Teenagers emerge from coffins, girls awkwardly sing in their bedrooms and no neck is safe, as quiet Dylan turns in to an opera singing bloodsucker. Watch the comedy unfold in this first trailer for I Kissed a Vampire, inside.

A while back we told you about the iTunes-only rock musical I Kissed a Vampire. Well, it's iTunes-only no more as a feature film version directed by Chris Sean Nolan is on its way! I know you're friggin' excited, right? Contain yourself, damn it!
High School Musical alumni Lucas Grabeel and Drew Seeley and newcomer Adrian Slade star in this look at the torment of falling in love when you’re in the middle of becoming a vampire. Dylan (Grabeel) is terrified when a nasty bat bite transforms him into one of the living dead. Apparently, there's an iTunes web series called I Kissed a Vampire - something to further fuel the current bloodsucker zeitgeist and this thing has turned into a full-blown feature film directed by Chris Nolan. No, not Inception or The Dark Knight 's Christopher Nolan. Described as a rock musical starring Lucas Grabeel ( High School Musical ) Drew Seeley and newcomer Adrian Slade. The film features 17 original songs and premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival. Here's the one-sheet. If you're curious enough to see the teaser trailer visit the official site .

We may never see the day Edward Cullen breaks into song, but, no doubt, it's every Gleek and Twi-Hard's fantasy. Bringing you the best of both worlds, I Kissed a Vampire might just fill the void. The rock musical, which premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival this past weekend, follows three teens navigating the fang-tastic world of the undead. Dylan (Lucas Grabeel of High School Musical fame) is going through some major life changes - he's transforming into a vampire. His efforts to protect his girlfriend Sara (Adrian Slade) from a similar fate and the deliciously deviant vampire Trey Sylvania (Drew Seeley) prove fruitless.

Kissed a Vampire, the Streamy-nominated high school vamp-rock musical starring Lucas Grabeel, Adrian Slade and Drew Seeley (of Disney’s High School Musical fame), is gearing up for a feature length movie version. Apparently, this won’t just be a mashup of the web series, but will instead be “a brand new feature film with 17 original songs…based on the web series.” It will premiere June 12 at the Seattle International Film Festival. (Trailer for the web series above) [Just Jared Jr.] The Writers Guild of America East (WGAe) issued a statement today in response to a news report that FCC Chairman Genachowski is leaning toward not reclassifying broadband as a telecommunications service. “The Writers Guild of America, East is deeply troubled by the report in the May 2 Washington Post suggesting that FCC Chair Julius Genachowski is ‘leaning toward’ a decision not to reclassify broadband as a ‘telecommunications service’ under Title II of the Communications Act.

What do you get when you take High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel and One Tree Hill's Drew Seely, give them some fangs, and tell them to sing and dance? You get an online musical, I Kissed a Vampire, that would have Joss Whedon rolling in his grave (and that's not even possble!)...and you might smash your computer in the process. For instance, you might have the type of frustration I did just trying to watch the episodes. Only available on iTunes, you first have to be willing to pony up the $1.99 an episode, then you need to make sure that your iTunes is running at it's most current version, and finally, you have to have the latest version of Safari running to order from the online store. Oh and of course, the latest version of Safari only runs on Mac versions 4.0.3 for Tiger or higher, so make...

Looking to capitalize on the ultra large audiences for High School Musical and The Twilight Saga, someone thought it would be a good idea to combine the two and put together something called I Kissed a Vampire, which is a movie-musical that's set to go straight to iTunes on October 13th. The movie-musical, which looks to suck in more ways than one, stars High School Musical alum Lucas Grabeel, Drew Seeley (One Tree Hill, Another Cinderella Story) and newcomer Adrian Slade in a story that's ripped straight from other more successful other-worldly franchises in that it follows the trials and tribulations of falling in love when you're in the middle of becoming a vampire. Here's my question: Do you buy this shtick? If it was a little more over the top and played up the dark humor...
