Cork Proctor is a Nevada comedy legend who performed for five decades
in major hotel lounges and main rooms in Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Las
Vegas, Nevada, opening for stars such as the Supremes, Donna Fargo,
Captain & Tenille, Lee Greenwood and Mel Tillis.
He began his career as a Reno musician, playing drums. From 1965 to
1970 he headlined a musical group, The Winners, which performed in the
Silver Dollar Bar at Reno's Harolds Club. At the same time he hosted a
late-night movie show on KOLO channel 8 in Reno.
in May 1973 he opened as a stand-up comedian in the Frontier Hotel, Las
Vegas, Nevada. His subsequent comedy career has taken him all over the
US and Caribbean. From 1982 to 1991 he performed regularly on Royal
Caribbean cruise ships.
As an actor he appeared in movies and television series in the 1970s.
In 1999 he left show business to join the U.S. Peace Corps and served
in Suriname, South America. He is retired and lives in the Andean town
of Cuenca, Ecuador, South America.
