Newton and Bailey joined co-stars Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Simone Ashley, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh and more of the the show’s cast and crew on the blue carpet in New York City on Monday to celebrate the world premiere of Bridgerton season three.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere, Newton — who portrays Colin Bridgerton, one of the main love interests this season — revealed that he began tuning into Bailey’s approach to Anthony Bridgerton last season.

Dearest readers: It’s Bridgerton Week at IndieWire. We’re celebrating the new season by diving deep on one of the best romance shows on TV.
Asked to sum up the new season of “Bridgerton” in one word, showrunner Jess Brownell landed on “cozy.”
“I think the feeling of this season is you’re drinking a hot cup of tea under a blanket and having a laugh,” she told IndieWire during a recent interview. “There’s that familiarity between the characters that just feels easy and cozy.”
Season 3 of Netflix’s smash hit focuses on the love story between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Unlike previous installments in which a new person enters the ton and shakes things up, fans are already familiar with the duo and have been particularly excited to watch Lady Whistledown’s main character moment finally unfold.

Bridgerton Season 3 is bringing Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton) love story to life from Julia Quinn’s Romancing Mister Bridgerton. However, a key character from Polin’s book is not featured in the Netflix show at all: Felicity Featherington. Another Featherington sister?! Yes, there’s another one in the book series! Felicity is closest to Penelope within the Featherington family and the youngest sibling. She’s also a dear friend to Hyacinth Bridgerton. In the Netflix series, Penelope only has two siblings, Prudence (Bessie Carter) and Philippa (Harriet Cains). Showrunner Jess Brownell explains Felicity’s absence in the show to TV Insider. “I think [that] was a smart decision. I think that was a decision made by Chris Van Dusen and Shonda [Rhimes] early on in the pilot,” Brownell says. “It just gets hard to characterize three siblings, especially when the Featheringtons are in a secondary position. The main...

It’s almost time to return to the Ton for an all-new romance as Bridgerton‘s third season turns its attention to secret gossip columnist Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), a.k.a. Lady Whistledown, and her longtime crush Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Trading in the enemies-to-lovers trope explored in Season 2’s fiery entanglement between Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his bride Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), Season 3 explores the friends-to-lovers angle, one that showrunner Jess Brownell tells TV Insider “lent itself more naturally to rom-com sensibility.” Liam Daniel/Netflix “We’re definitely leaning into the humor and the playfulness and the coziness between the couple,” Brownell teases. As fans of the Netflix hit have seen over the years, Penelope has pined from afar, embracing her wallflower status, but as the Season 3 tagline points out, “even a wallflower can bloom.” Eager to break free of the family who doesn’t recognize her brilliance,...

Dear reader, does star-crossed romance ever go out of style? Apparently not, based on the rabid response to Netflix's ever-popular "Bridgerton" series that's now set to debut its third torrid season. By now, even those who don't watch the streaming phenomenon can't help but feel intimately familiar with the politics of the Ton, their fondness for extravagant parties, and the heartrending tendency for even the most different of friends -- and oftentimes even enemies -- to fall hopelessly in lust love with each other.
That's the main theme of the season 3 trailer, newly released by Netflix this morning. It's actually been quite some time since season 2 came and went in March of 2022, which centered on the roguish Viscount Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his fiery attraction to Kate Sheffield (Simone Ashley), and the familiar voiceover narration is keenly aware of that fact. The saucy Netflix period drama is back for another steamy season. Here’s the trailer for Bridgerton season 3.
Bridgerton has been a huge hit for Netflix, thanks to its achingly romantic, sensual plot that revolves around the various siblings of the Bridgerton family trying to find love.
Now, it’s returning for its long-awaited third season, which will largely focus on Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope trying to find herself a husband.
Take a look at the newly released trailer.
Well, we were promised an “ultra-sexy, lavish” season and it looks like that’s exactly what we’re getting.
Bridgerton largely launched the careers of Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page, who have both departed the beloved series and sought other projects. Page was seen last year in the Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves while Dynevor recently appeared in Netflix’s biting Fair Play.
Here’s a pretty long synopsis for...

As the voice of Lady Whistledown (Julie Andrews) declares at the top of the “Bridgerton” Season 3 trailer — it has been far too long.
After more than two years away, the steamy Netflix series based on Julia Quinn’s novels returns, this time to tell the story of Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan). Unlike previous seasons, both leads in this installment are already familiar to the hungry “Bridgerton” fanbase, as is the romantic trope of friends to lovers.
The trailer for Part 1 (four episodes) shows Penelope and Colin rekindling their friendship after Colin returns from Europe so strikingly handsome that even his siblings notice; he offers to coach Penelope in how to charm suitors so that she may find a suitable husband, but the teaching process has Colin wondering about his own feelings. That’s all complicated by the arrival of Lord Debling (Sam Phillips), who is actively seeking a wife.

Do you love “Bridgerton”? Want to smell like it’s 1813? Netflix and Bath & Body Works have just the product line for you!
“Get comfy, light a candle, and prepare to press play on one of the most sensorial and highly-anticipated partnerships of the year,” a press release from the new and…unique…collaboration begins.
The coming “Bridgerton”-branded assortment of products by (and at) Bath & Body Works is “inspired by scenes, characters, key icons, and moments from the show, capturing its aspirational and vibrant aesthetic,” the companies said on Tuesday.
One thing it is definitely not inspired by is showers. Though the shower was technically invented toward the tail-end of the prior century, the “Bridgerton” characters are very much in the bath days. Still, Regé-Jean Page looks like he smells good.
The “hero fragrance” of the “Bridgerton” x Bath & Body Works collection is the “Diamond of the Season,” naturally.

In honor of International Women’s Day, IndieWire is pleased to share its annual female filmmakers to watch list featuring a rising assortment of women writers and directors with some of the biggest projects of the year.
On the big screen, Theda Hammel’s Sundance breakout “Stress Positions” went on to become a leading title on this year’s New Directors/New Films lineup and is set to close out the festival. Alessandra Lacorazza’s “In the Summers” won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance, and also earned Lacorazza the Directing prize. Cazzie David and Elisa Kalani co-wrote and co-directed SXSW selected film “I Love You Forever,” which is produced by Diablo Cody.
While David also co-stars in the film, another actress makes her directorial debut with a similarly sinister premiere: Anna Kendrick directs and stars in “Woman of the Hour” based on the haunting true story of the “Dating Game” killer.

Nicola Coughlin and Luke Newton teased their upcoming on-screen romance at a Valentine’s Day “Bridgerton” fan event in London.
Coughlin plays Lady Penelope in the show while Newton is her longtime crush Colin Bridgerton. After two seasons of meaningful looks and crossed wires, the duo may finally get together in Season 3, which drops on Netflix in two parts later this year (May 16 and June 13).
“It was scary that we were friends to begin with because if you thought about doing that stuff with your friend it’s quite like ‘Ooh,’” Coughlin said of some of their racier scenes. “But then we could talk about it and have a laugh about it and ended up quite fun.”
Newton pointed out that it’s not just Lady P and Colin who are getting hot and bothered in the ‘Ton, as the upscale society in the show is called. “It’s just steamy across the board,...

The Emmys won’t burn for “Bridgerton” this year.
The third season of Netflix’s immensely popular period drama “Bridgerton” will be divided into two parts. Part 1, consisting of four episodes, will premiere on May 16, followed by the release of Part 2’s final four episodes on June 13. While the eligibility calendar for Emmy consideration runs from June 1 to May 31 each year,.a show must have a minimum of six episodes to compete in the top drama and comedy series races.
In the past, shows like “Bridgerton” could submit for awards consideration after the deadline thanks to the “hangover rule,” which would allow any series concluding its season after the May 31 deadline to still submit for Emmy nominations, as long as it was wrapped before the start of the nomination-round voting. We’ve seen shows like “The Handmaid’s Tale” take advantage of the rule, which was abolished by the Television Academy...

Lady Whistledown had a Christmas present for Bridgerton fans.
The Netflix series left something under the Bridgerton tree when it delivered five first-look photos at season three on Monday.

The third season of the hit Shondaland series will have a new showrunner, with Jess Brownell taking over from creator Chris Van Dusen, and will focus on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) for what is sure to be the will-they-won’t-they romance talk of the ton. We know that the upcoming third season of Netflix’s Bridgerton will focus on the love story between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) which has prompted questions about why Benedict (focus of the third book in the series) was skipped.
Per the synopsis, Season 3 — which is based on Romancing Mister Bridgerton, the fourth book in Julia Quinn’s series — finds Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as she’s finally given up her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing him disparage her to his friends last season. Ready for another rendezvous with the ton?
“Bridgerton” is returning to Netflix in 2024, with the third season of the period drama waltzing onto streaming in two parts. The first four episodes will premiere on May 16, and the next four will be available to stream on June 13.
Along with the announcement, Netflix released a video stitching together previously seen footage with TikToks and social media posts from fans eager to revisit the upper crust of Regency-era London.
The Shondaland series will jump right into Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) romance in Season 3, diverting from the Julia Quinn books it’s based on. Meanwhile, Penelope will have to deal with her rift with Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), who, according to Netflix’s description, has found a new friend in an unlikely place. With a growing presence in the ton, Penelope is challenged with keeping her Lady Whistledown alter ego under wraps.
